Obama: ‘I Was Actually Black Before the Election’Posted on Sep 21, 2009
The president showed up on the “Late Show With David Letterman” on Monday (if you broadcast it, he will come) and responded to Jimmy Carter’s speculation that racism is to blame for some of the nasty behavior of his detractors. ..I was black before he was president too. Am I a racist for disagreeing with this soft-spined, elitist bullshit pusher?
Will my children be spared the grim spectre of suffocating multi-generational debt for sake of their melanin content?
Doubtful, but I encourage you in genuine dissent to stick to your guns..sure he’s black, but he also sucks a** as a C.I.C. or leader in general and this unpleasant, ‘inconvenient’ truth is revealed just about time he opens his plaintive, well funded mouth.
Boring and unimaginative quips on the idiot circuit may allow us to smile and sigh uneasily in our living rooms but do little to uplift the discussion and less to elevate the man.

The ‘people like you remark’ was a generalization. And I do believe that many conservatives who oppose Obama are claiming they are being labeled as Racist solely for opposing Obama - as a way to silence their critics.
I mean nobody is going to claim, in a country of 300 plus million politically motivated people that you will never be able to make a statement that won’t cause someone to make a foolish, unfair and untrue accusation.
That is life… It happens to all of us. With the first black president it is inevitable that ‘racism’ will be used, fairly and unfairly.
When you say you can’t wait to have a president you can criticize without facing the label (fairly or unfarily), you sort of are saying you are hoping for a white president where black skin won’t be a factor that causes the ‘racism’ accusation to be made.
My comment was meant to state that unless you carry a sign or use language that makes the term legitimate to you, you have that right now.
Of course there will always be those who use labels like that unfairly and incorrectly. In those cases, I guess my question would be…. why would you care?
I have criticized Obama on many issues. Nobody has yet called me a racist in an attempt to silence me. But if they had, I would not have allowed them to succeed at it.

RobertinWestbury said: People like you who pretend you cannot oppose him without the label of racist, are using the term disengenuosly.
Wrong. Here on truthdig, I opined that the Obama administration was going to be corrupt, and a Truthdigger dismissed me with, “The only reason a person would say that is racism.” End of conversation on that topic!
I dont like racism. i was happy for this country when Obama won. But i dont like being called a racist. How hard is that to understand?
Until ‘racism’ is thrown at you to silence your opinion, perhaps you would be wiser to keep your ‘people like you’ remarks to a minimum.

I do agree with OzarkMichael with equating criticizing Obama on his policies as being racist. There are some articles on the HuffingtonPost full of intelligent discourse and criticism of Obama’s policies, that is, until the Obama-bots arrives—those one-line commenters that serve no other purpose than denigrate someone who would dare criticize the Obama. “Racist” is the favored attack and various other comments such as—you’re a Repug; you didn’t vote for him; Bush left a deep hole and Obama has only been in office (X) number of months; take it easy, Obama is educated and smarter than you are, you’re a hater.
I’m telling you, unless you’re on certain sites, like Truthdig or some of other progressive sites, or Black Agenda Report, which excoriates Obama on just about every policy, criticizing Obama without having a thick skin against the vicious invectives is done at your own peril.

“I cant wait till we have a President we can criticize without people calling us racist for it.”
You have that now… unless you hold a sign comparing Obama to a monkey (curious George) or an African witch doctor…. or use of the “N” word…
People like you who pretend you cannot oppose him without the label of racist, are using the term disengenuosly.

You can’t say a word against Israel without being called “anti-semitic.” Thus Israel has guaranteed that it need not pay any attention to criticism, and by pretending to be constantly demonized, shuts off possibilities for improvement. That’s one way to avoid taking a more (or less) objective look at what you are doing. Obama is smarter than to cut himself off like that.

It is okay to be totally opposed to Obama and Obamacare in America, right? I mean, without being called a racist.
Sometimes I wonder. Remember: “YOU’RE SURELY A RACIST, IF…” at http://firebreathingchristian.wordpress.com/2009/09/03/youre-surely-a-racist-if/

His being black before the election has nothing to do with the racist elements displaying themselves now. It only means there are enough non-racist people out there for a black man to be elected. It does not mean that because he was elected there isn’t a problem.
Carter, as usual, was right.
While engaging the issue would be a distraction for him while he battles for healthcare, etc….. it is still a lost opportunity to pooh pooh it with witty soundbites like this..
