Bill O’Reilly Wants a Public OptionPosted on Sep 17, 2009
Bill O’Reilly says of the very public option that makes his Foxy friends’ heads explode: “I want that. ... [I]f the government can cobble together a cheaper insurance policy that gives the same benefits, I see that as a plus for the folks.” Quick, look out your window to see the flying pigs. Let’s be cynical for a moment. Bill O’Reilly loves to claim that he is an independent. He occasionally marches to the beat of a different drummer just to prove it. Now that the public option is dead—at least in Bill’s estimation—he may have run the numbers and decided to make a point of his independence. Or maybe he really loves the idea. Who knows what bounces around in that giant head of his? —PS Daily Kos TV: Advertisement Previous item: Tea-Baggers March on Washington, Have No Idea Why Next item: Carter Sticks to His Guns, Repeats Racism Charge Elsewhere: . This can’t be explained away by sending it awash with a contextual argument. He sais what he said, and it clearly states he is in support of a public option by definition… probably the smartest thing I have ever heard come from Bill O’reilly’s mouth.
...which means of course he has a right-wing backlash now on his hands and he will crack under that pressure in a nanosecond and try to explain away this new position to try and quell the furor.
Watch as this happens. He has no backbone so it’s a sure thing.

In the clip, O’Reilly and the woman are talking about two different things. The woman says the Baucus plan is “public” because there is a lot of regulation—this would be a complaint of the rightist Heritage foundation for which she is speaking, and can be dismissed as propaganda. O’Reilly seems to be talking about the public option as a separate entity, albeit rather vaguely. Perhaps neither of them know what they’re talking about.

O’Reilly wasn’t referring to the public option Obama was proposing but to the “public option” the woman was referring to, in other words, they claim the corporate Baucus proposal has a “public option.”

Is O’Reilly smart enough to say the correct right-wing thing without right-wing cue cards?
