Obama school speech
youtube.com

President Obama managed to deliver his contested speech at Wakefield High School in Arlington, Va., on Tuesday, offering such highly controversial and clearly socialist messages as, “You can’t drop out of school and just drop into a good job,” and, “Listen to your parents.” This is the stuff of brainwashing, people!  —KA

Innocouous and slightly hectoring speech, not unlike what kids hear constantly from their “elders.”  Nothing threatening.  Nothing exciting.  Who could do better under the circumstances, with a fearful public and a rat’s nest of ignorant critics?

Fat Freddy,

Of course, that’s what you thought, and pigs fly, too, don’t they?

It was an excellent speech.  It qualified the work of teachers, and challenged the students.  It challenged the teachers, and qualified the work of the students.

According to an editorial in the “Star Telegram”:

“In Arlington, Texas, administrators decided not to interrupt the school day to let students see the speech live. But on Sept. 21, the district will bus some fifth-graders to Cowboys Stadium to hear a similar message from former President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura.

It appears that not all interruptions are created equal.”

This is a good example of the “problem” in some schools.  If you’ve ever been the captive participant in this type of vicious undermining of any voice or idea but the supposed “acceptable” one, you would understand the true depth and corruption of others by these types.

What kind of message does this send fifth-graders?  Think about it.  Doesn’t it qualify vicious, intolerant behaviour?  This school district is TEACHING other people’s children that this is acceptable.  These children are being used as pawns, quite probably as their parents before them were also.

This is important to us as a nation, because as a nation, this is not teaching critical reasoning nor healthy debate.  This TEACHES intolerance as a virtue.

Btw, imagine this district glorifying a president who helped to bring this nation to its knees.  Been there, seen it.  Bastards.

Perhaps that would have been an improvement over a public fool system that teaches blind obedience to the state and prepares the little drones for a life in
the hive

Indeed. I’ve been saying for many years that children need to be taught how to think, not what to think. All the President did was wave the flag and blow smoke up their asses. But what more would you expect from any American politician?

And BTW, I did go tank diving once, and that was during my Hardcore Punk, Anarchist days.

Another incredibly tragic paradox based on the endemic ignorance of the minority.

I listened as the President encouraged students to survive the 21st Century (my words) by acquiring something they won’t be able to live without…some measure of EDUCATION!!

But, he also told them to listen to their parents, and it’s clear from the extreme partisan bullshit that the PARENTS are the problem in the majority of cases on this particular presentation from President Obama, who has spent the majority of his life in education and public service. He was a professor for 12 years before running for the Oval Office, but it doesn’t take a devoted educator/teacher to figure out that it’s better to be informed than stupid.

So, when the President makes a statement that NOBODY could logically argue with, like:“You don’t drop OUT of school and ‘drop into’ a good job” the only thing we can KNOW is that the people who insisted on DIS-enrolling their children from schools where the President’s speech was being aired, (even when the school provided an alternative space like the school library for them to be during the time) are CHOOSING to keep their children as ignorant as they obviously are.

Like I said, ignorance is endemic, because it’s been recycled for so many decades/Centuries, and I’d be the first to acknowledge that an academic education does not guarantee that ignorance will be cured. (too many formally educated bigots and other ignoramuses around to deny that.) Still, it’s a NECESSITY for those of us in the 21st Century who don’t conscientiously CHOOSE to be ignorant.

“Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscious stupidity.”

Damn, I thought he was going to tell them to “Tune in, Turn on, and Drop
out”.

That’s Timothy Leary, for those of you who don’t know.
