‘Left, Right & Center’: Jobless Labor Day, Afghan Plans, ObamacarePosted on Sep 4, 2009
President Obama’s got a lot of work to do to convince “Left, Right & Center” regulars Arianna Huffington, Tony Blankley and Robert Scheer that he’s going to make good on his promise of “change” when it comes to bettering Americans’ health care options, the economy, the job market, and that whole war thing he’s got going on in Afghanistan. Luckily for him, Obama can get free advice about all of the above on this week’s show, moderated by Matt Miller. —KA KCRW: Advertisement Elsewhere: . CommentsAre you a Truthdig member yet? I don’t know which man went on about how progressive the Massachusetts model is, but he doesn’t live here and he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. The idea that Mitt Romney could have come up with a progressive policy is absurd. He made a deal with Wallmart, whereby they agreed to pay a small fine, rather than provide insurance to their employees. The drug companies were at the table and killed wellness programs that provided help to people to prevent diseases such as diabetes and help to people to live with these diseases, in favor of more money provided for drugs. And I’m sure there are many more problems. If Obama pushes such a plan for the country, we’ll be in much worse shape. Millions of people will be forced to pay for something that will be worthless to most of them. If Obama pretends that a trigger option is progress, he will have blown it. Arianna was right when she wrote earlier this week that much of the health care rage is really bailout rage. If Obama blows it with health care, things are going to erupt. And you can SAY the trigger option will represent progressive change, but most people, rightly so, are not going to see it that way.
