A thinking fetus, looking forward to being birthed into a world with Huckabees and Bushes and Obamas, would cry out to be aborted.

Life is a stinking, treacherous game, and women who love the young abort their fetuses.

Mike Huckabee scares the HELL out of me!  And while he makes some sense, his arguments are largely emotional and unscientific.

YIKES

Wow, I had no idea how many Jon Stewart fanboys were on this here website. Way to miss my point. I am NOT even talking about this particular discussion. I didn’t watch it. I am sure Stewart is most eloquent on the topic of abortion. I was addressing the fact that Truthdig seems to post a new Daily Show clip everyday which is too much. And FOR THE MOST PART, when discussing the wars, Israel, Iran, North Korea, Somalian piracy, etc Jon Stewart regurgitates the same talking points that the rest of the corporate media does.

Abortion, gay rights, and other social issues are easy things for a mainstream liberal to discuss. If you can’t understand what I am saying, that says a lot about your understanding of current affairs.

That part when Huckabee mentioned eliminating life because of social or economic issues…I guess it’s okay to do it with an illegal war when the same babies turn 18.

Hypocrisy is the wine of the neoconned and it continues to get better with age.

I’m Canadian. Comedy Central hates me.

If you’re going to keep embedding clips from them, PLEASE tell us what date the clip aired so we can go and steal it from bittorrent. smile

I think Mr. Huckabee, you should spend the rest of your life DEVOTED to all the “souls” you intend to save…..

How is it Mr. Huckabee you feel EQUIPPED to know what pregnancy, childbirth or abortion is like…?  I find that suspect, and NO AMOUNT of the supposed genuine compassion you attempt to portray will ever change my mind.  Either care for the children born because of your mantra, like Mother Theresa did…. or attempt to fix at least what you might know something about.

“Nothing could be more grotesquely unjust than a code of morals, reinforced by laws, which relieves men from responsibility for irregular sexual acts, and for the same acts drives women to abortion, infanticide, prostitution, and self-destruction”.......Suzanne LaFollette

From the “used to have to hide it”, feminist humanitarian, with six children,...... imagine that.  How do you suppose Mr. Huckabee, one gets from there to here…...?  You talk of things you know nothing about, and it shows.

Has it ever occurred to you Mr. Huckabee that if you weren’t lying to them (women fundamentalists) in the FIRST place regarding religion, that they might be capable of making completely rational, thoughtful decisions without your “counseling”...?

So here we have the jesus freak hucklebee talking the sanctity of life, that he is against taking a life because it is an inconvenience.  Seems that it is different if that life is a child in Gaza, or Afghanistan.  But that would not be so much of an inconvenience for the jesus freak since, well they aren’t really children of the real god.

The only problem I have with the discussion is “abortion” is not an issue of debate, but what these jesus freaks want to take is our rights. It is about the 9th amendment to what is left of the constitution.  And if you don’t know what it is or what it means, drag your knuckles and go home russian paul

There are only a few glimmerings of Stewart actually getting it right. But if you pay attention he is repeating many of the same talking points you hear on all the other shows. He makes fun of the media, but not where it truly hurts. He’ll make one salient comment (I wrote him thanking him for spending 5 minutes one night discussing the Gaza attacks), but for the most part he’s a staunch defender of Zionist extremism, Obama’s continuation of Bush’s policies and he promulgates the “left vs right” bullshit that is the smokescreen blocking any true progress in this country and that’s why I can’t stand him. He could say much more, but he bites his tongue and doesn’t rock the boat. He is as complicit as any other TV host in spreading half-truths and obfuscating the goals of true progressives in this country.

I used to think the same way you do. Until I started reading more in-depth independent journalism, now there is no way I can support such trite “satire.”

PS. I will admit Colbert is a bit better; because of his “character” he is able to get away with a lot more, plus it helps he is infinitely more talented than Stewart.

PPS. Maher also is not bad. At least he invites true progressives like Naomi Klein and Jeremy Scahill on, without mocking them like Stewart has in the past.

I think you’ve got it backwards there Paul. Unfortunately Stewart and Colbert are the closest thing left to truthful broadcast journalism.

Mocking bullshit from corporate media? Perhaps. Repeating it? Not so much.

When was the last time you saw a level headed discussion of abortion on corporate media?

These guys may get laughs, but they are dead serious and I am extremely grateful they exist. If only real news could this without all the ridiculous faces, we might have citizens in the know.

For the love of god, it seems Daily Show and Colbert Report are all Truthdig is capable of posting here. There are much more interesting clips we can watch then Jon Stewart repeating all the bullshit from corporate media while pretending to make fun of it. Enough already!
