Lt. Dan Choi Leads Gay Rights Rally Outside Obama FundraiserPosted on May 28, 2009
The anti-Proposition 8 protests were one form of gay rights activism taking place recently around Los Angeles, but a related issue was the subject of a rally led by former Lt. Dan Choi, a West Point graduate and Arab linguist who was discharged from the Army National Guard earlier this month for coming out publicly: Choi wanted to remind the visiting president about his pledge to end “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” YouTube: Advertisement Elsewhere: . Purple girl, telling us not to make this about sexual orientation is akin to telling African-Americans in 1964 not to make this about race. Sorry, darling, but it won’t wash with anyone half-alive between the ears.
I am Gay and suffer no fools: USMC Sam, you are a fraud & I bet the only hole you ever fell into was a pothole. Were you in such a situation you wouldn’t give a damn about the gay—you’d want him alive to cover your worthless a ss. And Nam Vet 66, go read Thoreau—you need to learn something about the relationship between an individual and society. Your mind has been poisoned by all those neo-Nazi History Channel shows.
Moving on…if Mr. Choi isn’t a true soldier who is? I’m wondering if there isn’t a role for him in public service? I’d hate to have him corrupted, though, by what now passes for politics, but he has a moral centre and the movement needs leaders.
Interesting to hear a soldier heralding love; it’s usually musicians, writers and artists who understand its power. Very refreshing, and good luck, Dan.

“The GLBT Groups should stop making this fight about Sexual oreintation and make it about any act which breaks the long accepted Rules of Military Conduct.”
The GLBT community would have loved to have had those acts you identified as the fight….
But this rule of don’t ask don’t tell was sort of decided without our imput..
We have to fight it for what it is (a ban on openly proud homosexuals), because if we started arguing about all the atrocities you mentioned, nobody would disagree with us, and there wouldn’t really be a fight.
But the ban on us would remain..

It’s not a matter of sexzual Orientation which disgraces the Uniform, the Unit,The Service or the Country- it’s the behaviors which do that.
Report thisLets See murdering innocent Civilians, kidnapping and raping civilians or fellow Troop members, Torturing and abusing captives,Abusing Authority and power….Oh theh list goes on regarding the numerous ways ANY Soldier can Disgrace the Uniform.
The GLBT Groups should stop making this fight about Sexual oreintation and make it about any act which breaks the long accepted Rules of Military Conduct.
Our Country Pledges to Humanity a place of refuge for ‘The Tired, the Poor the Huddle Masses yearning to breath Free’- any act or attitude which negates or undermines that oath is a disgrace and should be rejected or ejected from Serving as Representatives of US in OUR uniform or under OUR Flag.
There Were no Qualifiers, No (*) next to “We the People”, So our offer stands of All who wish to ‘Breath Free’. Those who are unable to accept that Promise should not be allowed to serve, nor call themselves Patriots or ‘Defenders of Freedom’.
There Were Founders who truely had a vision of Freedoms for All, and those who merely wanted to be the Oppressors instead of the Oppressed. Over the last 2 centuries we have slowed moved to the Real vision our Most honorable Founders and Away from those of the dispictable Self Serving. I will adhere to the Large printed Words “We the People”, the promise of “inalienable Rights”, the welcoming words inscribed on our Lady Liberty while Loudly and profusely Rejecting and rebuking that one disgusting coerced fraction of ‘3/5ths’ in the face of a civilian or a Uniform. Those Who cling to that one instance of archiac discrimination have far more to Rebuke and Reject than I as to what our Founder Truely Stood for. Love it or Leave it!Perhaps they would find more kinship and acceptance in a Country under Sharia Law.

Good for Mr. Choi.
What a message, he’s right….love is worth it. It is claimed that the overriding message of the bible is LOVE. Suspect that some would use the bible to attempt to disavow that message.
Remember… if you are Christian, that Jesus’ presence made all THE OLD LAW, null and void and not to be considered, since according to SCRIPTURE Jesus… was the “the law”. Jesus, NEVER taught the vile mantra we now see blathered about by those with little regard for Jesus’ teachings.

What a jerk you are…
I suppose if you were in a hole and had enemy fire about you you wouldn’t at that time give a crap whether the person by your side was gay or not… just that he could shoot straight.
