Having ignored the whole Miss California brouhaha in recent weeks, Jon Stewart finally succumbed on Tuesday night’s show, and it’s completely worth it—if only for his Donald Trump imitation. Comedy Central:

This so-called “pageant of the Christ” woman gives a bad name to the noble teachings of the historic Jesus Christ, and, by extension, to the teachings of all religions.
It’s an irony that the conservative nuts, like FOX NEWS, have embraced this cheap woman just because she said that marriage should be only between a man and woman.
Just wait for the next news item in this nut’s future career, in which I predict that she will be involved in lesbian’s relationship, but never get married to a normal man.

I agree with your assessment that Jesus’ words are given short shrift and is manipulated by these radical “christians”.
I believe Faux Snooze jumps on anything that validates its far right opinions as well.
I puzzle at your last paragraph that seems to indicate something wrong with a lesbian relationship and wonder what is meant by “normal” man? Besides, hasnt she already been linked romantically to Michael Phelps?

I REMEMBER GROWING UP AND WATCHING THE MISS USA,AND THE MISS AMERICA SHOWS,AND HOW I WOULD THINK OF THESE WOMEN AS ROLE MODELS FOR ALL THE LITTLE GIRLS WHO WOULD WATCH THESE SHOWS,INTELLIGENT, ARTICULATE AND WELL ROUNDED WOMAN WHO WANTED WORLD PEACE,CURE FOR CANCER,AND ANYTHING ELSE THEY COULD TO DO HELP.MY POINT BEING SINCE WHEN IS IT CALLED MISS STRIPPER U.S.A.?THEY ARE SENDING THE WRONG MESSAGE TO LITTLE GIRLS-THAT WHAT YOU LOOK LIKE IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH SO GET IMPLANTS.MS.PREJEAN CLAIMS TO BE A CHRISTIAN BUT MY QUESTION IS WHAT WOULD GOD THINK ABOUT YOU ALTERING THE BODY HE GAVE YOU?D.T. Robertin: I don’t think people need more educating about gay marriage. Some people accept it, some don’t. Period. It’s not that they are ignorant of what the issues are; they just don’t want it.

As a gay man I couldn’t have stated better my feelings on this entire fiasco.. His last line was classic.
Prior to this I had never heard of Perez Hilton. I think he overreacted terribly, and this threw this ‘issue’ into the media.
I’m glad it’s winding down, and I’m glad she remains Miss California.
Back in the 80s, I thought it was absolutely shameful they way the mistreated Vanessa Williams.. Poetic justice that she has become the most successful former beauty pagent winner in history.
Who cares what she thinks about gay marriage. We have to educate the masses of voters in California, and I don’t think attacking someone for stating the opinion she did is a smart way to change hearts and minds..

Let’s not forget that beauty pageants are a cultural relic of the eugenics movements of the late 19th and early 20th century—the goal being the identification of an anatomical ideal in “breeding” a better society. That being the case, Miss Prejean’s heterosexism is all too fitting. Same goes for Palin.
