Wanda Sykes stirred controversy at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner on Saturday, taking a jab at Obama’s nipples, Dick Cheney’s creepiness, and calling for Rush Limbaugh’s kidneys to fail. The White House is now distancing itself from the comedian’s comments. At Monday’s briefing, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said, “I don’t know how the guests get booked.” Watch as Wanda brings down the house!

OUR side, Magginkat. You know, the side that won the election.  Sykes’ bit was not befitting of the winning side.

You took off on quite a little tangent there, but I suppose in this day and age of microwaved-instant everything I suppose it’s normal to cry for the moon that wasn’t delivered “yesterday”.

Quote: By Maezeppa “Sykes’ comments were tasteless and are not befitting of the winning side.”

Pray tell what winning side.  I was expecting change…real change from the Obama administration. I see little or nothing.  At times it seems that he’s fast forwarding Cheney/Bush policies.

Check out the case of former governor of Alabama, Don Siegelman who was prosecuted and sent to prison for appointing a political donor to a non-paying job.
http://www.donsiegelman.org/

If the Siegelman case is legit then Bush, Cheney, the governors of all 50 states, Obama and all members of Congress should probably be prosecuted and sent to prison.

Most of the corrupt U.S. Attorneys, including the most corrupt in the country who prosecuted Don Siegelman are still on the job doing Cheney/Bush/Rove dirty work.  Why the Sam Hill have they not been replaced?

Eric Holder couldn’t move fast enough to drop all charges against former senator Stevens in Alaska, one of the most corrupt men to ever squat in the halls of Congress, yet they refuse to look at Siegelman’s case.  Obama could issue an outright pardon but Siegelman wants him name cleared so he continues to fight through the court system.

Just a couple days ago the vile attorneys who brought the false charges against Siegelman were submitting requests to increase his prison term to 20 yrs instead of 7 and they wanted to do that based on charges that have been dismissed?

Who are these fools and why is the Obama administration overlooking them?  An innocent man has been destroyed, is fighting for his very survival and Obama & crew just turn their heads.

What friggin’ change Maezeppa?  What winning side?

Ms. Sykes told the truth.  If you don’t like it..tough.  We darn sure need someone telling the truth even if it’s in a joking manner.  We darn sure don’t get it from the media.

Bravo for Ms. Sykes.  I wish that most of Congress was like her.

Juanjo has it 100% correct.  If the gasbag limbaugh says something it must be the God given truth, according to the rabid ones.  Let a liberal/Democrat say the same thing and it’s unpatriotic.

She mixed comedy (Obama’s nipples) with truth, (Dick Cheney is a creep) and it drives the Bush/Limpbaugh crew nuts.  As for wishing Limpbaugh kidney failure, that would be justice for what we have had to endure at the hands of pig boy.  Personally I would settle for him being run over by a train.

Your comment: “If you look a little closer, you will come to understand that is a grossly simplistic and incorrect assumption.”

I will definitely check that out, however…. on the flip side, I’d like to say that “grossly simplistic and incorrect assumptions”, appear to be, the “talk of the town”.  Kapeesh?

Additionally, I find your assertion that myself and others, will…. at some indeterminate point, be in the position of “coming to understand” your premise, highly unlikely.

Equating Rush with Osama Bin Laden - rich that - kidney failure…one will recall that Bin Laden’s kidney’s failed - in fact, an article in the French daily Le Figaro confirms that Osama bin Laden underwent surgery in an American Hospital in Dubai, July, 2001 - http://www.globalresearch.ca/articles/RIC111B.html - where he also met with the local CIA agent…fits with this: Last Sunday on Meet The Press…

MR. GREGORY: Where is Osama bin Laden?

MR. ZARDARI: You all have been there for eight years, you tell me.  You lost him in Tora Bora, I didn’t.  I was in prison.  In fact, my wife warned America about Osama bin Laden in ‘89.  She rung up senior Bush and asked, asked of him, “Are you destabilizing my government?” Because he paid the then opposition $10 million to do—overthrow the first woman elected in Islamic country.  So we knew that he was your operator.  And…

Well, you should be.
Although, since the hour is late and I am getting sleepy and, therefore, am not up to de-encypting your message, entirely. I do think I got the gist of your drift, which is the part about most people on this site whom you feel have negative views on the universe of Jews of all kinds.

If you look a little closer, you will come to understand that is a grossly simplistic and incorrect assumption. I will refer you to Joseph Campbell whose theme line is, “Follow your bliss.” By that he may have meant, ignorance is bliss. In any case, I am sure you will continue to follow your bliss. I think you are extremely funny Ms. Sykes and I enjoyed your “dissertation”.  LOL.

I think ol’ generously gelatinous’ liver will fail, doesn’t that happen to all addicts?  I mean, drugs are always somewhat toxic, but when you consider them a meal….?  C’mon.

But for added effect, not that I’m a critic,....(that’s my disclaimer), I think you should have asked what color Pres. Obama’s Jesus is…?  That would have flew over the head of most, but “Wheee.e.e.e.e Doggie” as ol’ Jed would have said, .... wouldn’t that have been “eventful”.

Of course some on this site would say, it’s all because of “the Jews”, I expect that’s because “the Jews” simply haven’t “found” Jesus, and we all wonder still, was he missing?  ( I know, I know, old schtick…. but some are still searching…., correct?)

Aside from that, I guess I “have to side with” what is “correct” and acknowledge that it certainly seems outrageous that the First Lady has arms.  It’s almost scandalous…. she has arms!  My GOD, what is the world coming too, when people in the position, of being married to people in a position, who would have the power to change not just America, (but the world).... if the only used it….. HAVE ARMS!

Call the Queen Mother!!!!  This is an outrage!

Is it RobertinW or Rgoldberg?

either way, you only saw the superficial part that you chose to see and hear.

This lastest Rahm Emanuel production is typical, another out-dated hollywood roast by you know who.

Just another reminder to those who don’t really admire the ballywood bilksters and long campaign to destroy the traditional american values and replace it with “take no prisoners” merchandisers. the central characters in “The Godfather” is most akind to this crowd. Little different viewpoint than P.T. Barnum, “Another sucker is born every minute.”

If they ever make another sequeal to “Godfather,” Rahm must star because he just fits.

Face it, folks!

This ongoing issue is just one more Hollywood style “roasting” that Rahm Emanuel’s tribe has been marketing their clan of stars for so many years. A very tired, worn -out marketing schick. With Frank and Dean dead, they could have brought in old Don Rickles to keep kosher. But that is just the way it is. Such a bunch of wise guys, eh? Some funny stuff that effectively does a job to reach several millon people with an attack message while trying to put Obama in the limelight. It was a strange thing top see Obama truly let it all out and showing all the pent up rage released in roaring laugher and table pounding. Did he laugh a little too hard? What did we really see here?

I suggest there is a growing rage and so much more.

I mean, what is worse?  One man’s kidney’s failing, as she says she hopes for, or the entire country failing as Limbaugh says he hopes for?

Doubt she meant it literally.  Was it a poor line for jokes?  Yeah, but in this setting they traditionally try to make hay out of things that shouldn’t be made fun of (the remark about teachers having sex with students was far more cringe worthy to me than the Limbaugh remark).  And they often fail with most of us at home while making their immediate audience laugh.

In the heat of the moment I guess…

There’s CONTENT. And then there’s COMEDY. Two different things.

CONTENT: Comedians exagerate, they cross the line, sometimes they insult. This is what comedians do. This is why we laugh. Wanda Sykes is not a political analyst. So let’s not read too much into the content. (Scoutt…get real) I’d give her a 9 on content. Most of her material was current and well-written.

COMEDY: I really love Wanda Sykes. But from my view, too often her timing was off or her delivery was off and the jokes fell flat. I’d give her an 8 on comedy.

At one level I agree with Dave24 that every topic, be it 9/11 to Darfur can be a fodder for comedy. “The Producers” and “Hogan’s Heroes” made us laugh at Hitler. Consider the subject matter in “Blazing Saddles.” Hilarious.

But when I hear or see that clip of President Bush standing at that podium looking for the weapons of mass destruction…“they’re not over here…must be over there…” made me sick when I first saw it and sickens me still. What’s with that? Is it the content or the comedy that is so sickening? Or is it the comedian who sucks? Or is it the 4300 dead U.S. troops or thousands on thousands of dead Iraqi civilians?

To me, she stepped over the line when she said that she hope Rush’s kidneys fail, which is tantamount to forthrightly wish the would die.

Plain and simple. The thing is, the camera was tightly focused on Obama when she let that “kidney” joke fly and Obama exploded with laugher, eyes closed, every tooth exposed and slapping the dining table. He just roared. I thought, my God, he really, really hates Rush.

Until then, I thought he probably disliked Rush’s blabbering, but I was mistaken. It goes far beyong annoyed or ordinary anger. There is much more to this thing than I can understand. So much at stake, I guess. Things that I do not know about. Things that Hillary has often alluded to about “Them.” These people, we must always remember, are playing for very, very high stakes. For all the gold, real estate, armies and navies and so much more. You might say, “For all the marbles.” To control all history (the past) and for all the honor and glory.

Hard for me, but these people at the top are prepared to take their war to the limit, including all out nuclear war, anything. If so, why would 9-11 set up suprize you in the least. The twin towers or pear harbor are necessary evils to achieve what leadership devines is the right thing. These people understand what Nixon really meant by the comment, “If the President does it, it is legal!”

Interviewer Frost was and still is, very naive. Just like some banks are too big to fail, the American President is entrusted with the further existence of the whole damn planet, isn’t he?

Well, think about it.

You’re right Cyrena. Michelle Obama’s an American - she has the right to bear (her) arms. She looked stunning as usual and seemed to be having a really good time. Wanda was very, very funny and very cheeky. British comedians say far worse things than this about politicians (and about everything!) and no one gives a damn. They don’t get sent to the Tower any more either. The right needs to get a funny bone transplant. Limbaugh is a joke, so he was bound to end up in a comedy routine.

I watched the whole thing. (Obama’s as well). It was the ONLY media via any form (especially MSM TV Coverage) that I’ve seen in over 2 weeks. So, in the midst of what has been stressful times for most of us, I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED both Wanda and the President.

I couldn’t stop laughing at President Obama, who really WAS funny!! Extra funny; considering him being a bit of a nerd. (which is a GOOD thing BTW). Anyway, they both made my day.

The Republican Party doesn’t qualify for a bail-out and Rush Limbaugh is not a troubled asset. (He’s definitely TROUBLED, but NOT an ‘asset’ to anything related to the planet earth).

And, The First Lady, Michelle Obama, has the right to bare her arms, no matter how many of the demented bigots wanna foam at the mouth.

It really is time to join the 21st Century.

Everything is funny, be it 9/11, kidney failure, cancer in general, you name it.  When pundits begin speaking about “going over the edge” or “crossing the line,” we should all step back and realize that there is no such thing as an edge or a line.

Defining such rules leads only to censorship.  Taste is relative as is humor.  If you don’t think something is funny, you’re free not to laugh.  It’s all about context, context, context.

Whatever happened to court jesters? Whatever happened to court willing to undergo mockery? If only for purpose of PR? Henry VIII knew better than this set of Bozos! Hell, Stalin probably knew better, though maybe not. Okay, probably not, but what does that say about these crews of ours? Constituted of well-heeled power (redundancy, I know) and their servants.

Power cannot reign if not willing to undergo occasional mockery. Not that Sykes was remotely up to the job. All around bad. Bad material, bad timing. Whether concerning “mulatto” Obama or “hijacker” Limbaugh. Bad jokes badly delivered, not bad taste.

Where was Colbert? To mock court along with media that services same? Why else these incestuous gatherings? If not occasions for mockery before masses?

All day media servants spoke from beneath bunched panties. Usual hypocritical crap. “How dare she?” Well, she dared nothing as it happened. So what? “Okay, then how dared she pretend to dare?”

Umm… For you? Maybe? Meanwhile we got news of so-called “healthcare reform.”

Look-out for next donut hole.

As for Obama, charming no doubt, if not nearly so biting as Bush always was. But then Bush, a lot like Bruce and Pryor, was and probably still is one pissed off guy. (As such, he’d have done way better—especially for us—to have joined comedy circuit. As opposed to running for political office. Can’t be both court AND jester. One or the other, puhleeease! But lunacy reigns.)

Great comedy comes from being really, really pissed off. Price is usually paid in the end. We know of Bruce as we do of Pryor and Carlin. And more lately of Williams. We knew of Carson too. Yes, all got rich, but…riches of no use. No happy outcomes. Funny is not happy.

The other Marx sliced and diced, mean as ever came along. All the more hilarious exactly for that. Nothing personal, though at least necessary. For OUR COMFORT, not for theirs, for crissake!
