Obama Resolves to ‘Halt the Rise of Privacy’ [sic]Posted on Apr 13, 2009
Well, he actually meant piracy, but we get the picture: President Obama followed up on this weekend’s Somali pirate showdown with a salute to the crew of the Maersk Alabama and a pledge to crack down on the problem. Looks like the pirate contingent is planning to take a similar tack toward American sailors. i see the righties have already latched onto this slip of the word to create yet more hoo ha for them to be spreading on the interwebs. now come the opinion pieces and fake news stories on the right wing sites. they will repeated it over and over on the comment pages of newspapers and newsites. it will be on politico, over and over.
and newt gingrich will still be a jerk and obama will still come out ahead.
would have loved to hear newts take on bush and katrina.
i do not believe the ship was in territorial waters. the pirates have been going farther and farther out into the ocean for the attacks as ships have been trying to stay as far away as possible. pirates don’t have territorial claims to anything for the simple fact they are pirates. the pirates operate in any territory they please. i am fairly certain this particular ship was well outside any water somolia could claim under international law.
nice to see a conspiracy i smell a rat person jumping on this one too.

Yes, that’s the game plan to halt the rise of privacy. You heard the first truthful spoonerisms from Bush, and Obama will follow with some of his own.

Still wondering what an american merchant ship was doing in somalia’s territorial waters, rather than in international waters, especially when the whole planet was aware of threats of piracy? I smell a rat.
