It’s hard to say what made Columbia University professor David Buckner pass out during Monday’s episode of “Glenn Beck,” but perhaps standing so close to the Fox Newser and being obliged to describe a complex economic scenario with the aid of a cheesy graphic entitled “Path to Destruction” had something to do with Buckner’s sudden need to take a break from full consciousness.

Glenn Beck must have been hand-picked by Ruppert for stardom! Only on FUX News, can you see talent like him!

That is what you call sincere panic. Usually I only pass out like that after seeing my arm in a compound fracture. Evidently this is a sensitive and intelligent man who can visualize the fate of the American people.

At least Glenn didn’t start crying again. So, yes, he did fine.

Pretty bleak state of affairs and somewhat accurate.  Beck did fine.  I’m finding it interesting that Glenn Beck is being ridiculed as the new right wing nut du jour.  His message is not hateful like O’Reilly’s or Hannity’s or blatantly ignorant.  He deserves to have a voice.  Sort of a Libertarian answer to Bill Maher as Ron Paul is to Dennis Kucinich.
Let us not make the mistake of laughing this guy out of the room and risk becoming an army of Huffington ditto-heads ourselves.

That is astounding. The timing is uncanny.

Just when they get to the climax of bleakness in this assessment of the state of the economy, Buckner says quietly, “I’m passing out”, then he says it again a couple times a little more firmly, and then he simply does, maintaining the same eerie, matter-of-fact calm. He informs Glenn Beck that he is passing out in exactly the same professional, well-behaved tone of voice in which he has just told us that our economy is passing out. He doesn’t even look like he’s hoping for any help or sympathy. He’s as objective as a computer telling us that it’s going to shut down in 60 seconds.

It remains me of the Laurie Anderson piece in which, in an even, unperturbed voice, she says to the passengers in the plummeting plane, saying it just like she’s welcoming us and telling us we’ll be arriving at noon local time:

“This is your pilot. We’re going down….”

The only people slower than Glenn Beck were his assistants around him. They all did nothing to help at all…
