Obama Pitches Afghanistan Plan at NATO HuddlePosted on Apr 4, 2009
President Obama’s NATO allies may have responded favorably to his call to ramp up the war effort in Afghanistan, but anti-war demonstrators near the French-German border made their opinions known with protests following the photo ops in Strasbourg on Saturday. There is absolutely no need for NATO anymore. Treaties like these get countries INTO war, not keep them out.
As for Obama, he has unfavorable ratings among republicans and independents NOT because of his Democratic views, they were ALL willing to go along with that to a point. What is killing him now is his DISHONESTY, FISCAL IRRESPONSIBLITY, EQUIVOCATING, SHAM-PULLING, AND WAR-MONGERING. EVEN THE RIGHT HATES THIS STUFF, EVERYONE HATES THIS STUFF except the politician, they admire it when he dances around the truth and get away with it…
Everyone would have stuck with him, (even the right and the independents), if he would have stood up for American jobs and the American worker, stood against Wall Street and those who stole from us, stood up for Palestine (who can believe a thing he says about liking Muslims when he supports the blood thirsty Israelis?), stood up for the homeless and the American homeowner. These are things that all Americans need, but alas, he is just a fast-talking neocon/lib.
So now, even though the right has NOTHING to offer, he will still manage to lose seats in the house and senate because of his inability to do what is right.
He should be more like Jimmy Carter, who had the most bi-partisan support and who never compromised on the important stuff. And he got our jobs back.
Barry, GET OUR JOBS BACK AND OUR HOUSES BACK AND DO IT NOW! AND SHUT YOUR MOUTH UNTIL ITS DONE!.
Or go talk to Wall Street to help you in your next election. Your buds.

Diamand- you are quite right. Most people who voted for Obama wanted peace. And so he promised them peace. Like the Dem president in 1916, Wilson, ran on the slogan “he kept us out of war.” And then when he was elected, entered the US in WW1
Roosevelt campaigned in 1940 that he would not enter the US in foreign wars. He then finagled Japan to attack the US, and then intervened in the EUROPEAN was.
Johnson ran a campaign agsinst Goldwater’s militarism. And after being elected, sent troops to Vietnam for the first time.
The problem is that the power interests of the American power structure diverges from the interests of the population. The peace rhetoric is for the population and the war for the power interests. As the political scientists say, the discourse of governance diverges from the rhetoric of candidacy. and the policies favor power rather than those of the population.

on bill moyers show a woman named Sara living with the Afghans spoke of “discovering” that the Pakistan’s were paid $1b by USA to “create” and train a Taliban; cuz of course there WERE no links whatsover to Iraq or Suddam Hussain; http://www.democracynow.org & other places where media is not yet controlled gave the info out.
Report thisThe “gunslinger” set up by the USA as “gov” there slaps them on one cheek, then the Taliban also set up by the USA slaps them on the other cheek; the tribes there wonder why in a nation so poor those in office have “tens & tens of thousands of dollars”; & why they had to give such large tracts of land to USA cronies; to carry out of course the plan of Hitler’s global domination using Corps who have been criminalized; this is what the “free trade” is all about; “politicians” having mega millions if not billions; the people & environment as FAIR TRADE would help having NOTHING & only able to BUY water & food from THEM which of course will all come complete with the chemicals etc in them just like in the USA;
Trying to yet again manipulate the public it is said that the Afghan Pres issued a law blah blah blah; ordered to or outright lies by Pentagon who of course is going to keep milking the country dry & siphoing it right back into the hands of politicians; who have the “right” as “elected” officials to do whatever they want, whenever they want & never be brought to justice just like in the USA; EVERYONE gets to be slaves & poisoned! not just in the USA. http://www.naturalnews.com has lots of great information you will never hear on public or national news; since the Pres of Afghanistan is objecting to the killing of his people by drones he MUST be removed! and another corrupt one put into his place!

The writing is on the wall:
It is over for Obama.
Oh, but in the meantime, he will continue to shore up the New World Order without breaking stride while so many are still waiting on that hope and change just around the next corner.

Folktruther I don’t think that explantion will fly. Most of the people who voted for Obama voted for change and for bringing the troops home. The only reason the Democrats would feel obliged to stay there is to stop Pakistan being overrun by Islamic fundamentalists but it’s the same old story. Countries, like individuals, have to go through birth pangs to give birth to a democratic society. The CIA and Reagan intervened in Afghanistan to stop it moving forward to a secular state with trade unions, rights for women and separation of church and state and look what happened! No one can say the current situation is an improvement on that. Instead of wasting $20 billion of taxpayers’ money on weapons and war why didn’t they build some schools in America and bring in affordable health care? Instead they trained, armed and funded fanatical Islamic fundamentalists to overthrow a government that wanted a secular state! These people are imbeciles. The problem, as usual, is 9/11. Everyone has to go on pretending that Afghanistan had something to do with 9/11 because if it didn’t well, what then? Whodunnit? As if most people didn’t know by now. Every time I hear someone say ‘al Qaeda’ my bullshit detector hits the bell at the top of the pole and the mainstream media are like something out of Big Brother - Orwell not ‘reality’ TV. Having said that I wouldn’t want Obama’s job for all the money they gave to AIG.

Diamond-Obama is continuing Bushite policies in the Af-pak war to avoid losing it. If he lost it before the next election, he would shake US leadership of Nato even more. He would then be attacked by the Gops as ‘losing’ Afghanistan and Pakistan, as well as Nato.
The US is continuing that war, which all independant military people consider lost, because of the electoral considerations of Obama. blood for votes. The same reason that Johnson committed troops to Vietnam.

The Russians lost in Afghanistan with 500,000 troops on the ground. There is no military solution in Afghanistan, only a political one. The reason the neo cons went in there was because of Unocal’s oil and gas pipeline. The Taliban couldn’t guarantee the safety of the pipeline and were being difficult about allowing it to be built so they had to go.
This pipeline would carry oil and gas from the Caspian Sea through Afghanistan and Pakistan to Karachi on the Indian Ocean. At one time this was one of Enron’s pet schemes, before they went up in fiscal flames. But even after 9/11 Enron continued to ‘deal’, hoping the Taliban would see reason and Enron could save itself from bankruptcy. According to a former federal prosecutor there were many examples of ‘blocking’ of information related to the Taliban and this oil pipeline and the fact that US energy companies were secretly negotiating with the Taliban. The last ‘block’ came in January 2002 when Enron asked Dick Cheney personally to intervene and prevent any investigation into its negotiations with the Taliban, which, after 9/11, could have been made to look downright unpatriotic by those who believed the Taliban and Osama bin Laden had attacked America on 9/11. Enron and Dick Cheney were as one on this, they knew that money has no nationality and Dick Cheney certainly knew who really did 9/11 and was not in the least concerned with the activities of the ragged warriors of Afghanistan unless they got in the way of the pipeline, which they eventually did. Or as Gore Vidal put it:
‘As it proved, the conquest of Afghanistan had nothing to do with Osama. He was simply a pretext for replacing the Taliban with a relatively stable government that would allow Union Oil to lay the pipeline for the profit of, among others, the Cheney-Bush Junta’.
This is a failed and immoral war and even though I think Obama is moving to a more intelligent course of action, the real reason the movers and shakers want to stay is because the pipeline cannot be abandoned and Pakistan is a nuclear armed state and cannot be allowed to fail i.e. also threaten the pipeline. The majority of the people of Afghanistan don’t want to be ruled by the Taliban but they don’t want to be ruled by America and its puppet Karzai (formerly employed by Unocal) either. The CIA should have left Afghanistan alone but the chance to do over the then Soviet Union was irresistible and, of course, the oil companies wil do anything for oil. This is a nightmare of America’s own making but blaming Obama for the CIA’s stupidity is pointless. No one can control them or the energy companies. The corporations and the CIA ignore the politicians when it suits them (that’s most of the time) but when it all goes down in flames they blame the politicians. The truth is, they are an unelected world government and between them they have created the current whirlwind of financial disaster and military paralysis, having worked for years to render America’s democracy inoperative.
