Oliver at the inauguration

Was Barack Obama’s inauguration moment more important than, say, Martin Luther King Jr.’s finest hour? How about the moon landing? A brazen John Oliver takes to the streets of Washington, D.C., during Obama’s big day to take advantage of the good will of fellow revelers—and to steal a kiss or two—in this memorable “Daily Show” clip.

I saw this on tv. Too funny! But people were def. in a good mood!!!

I did something similar… in a way. Over the past week, I asked hundreds of people to pick a word to describe how they feel about Obama’s inauguration. I gave them 26 words to choose from including “Hopeful,” “Joyful,” “Hopeful,” “Skeptical,” and “Angry.” Then I took their portrait with the word.

The result is this video/photo essay, which is very poignant, as opposed to lol funny:

He’s a comedian!  Get a clue.  I suppose you’d post your nose-in-the-air opinions on a Sam Kinison routine, too.  Thank goodness it wasn’t Carrot Top doing interviews.

The moon landing was more historic. It was simply a matter of time until we had a non-white or female president. Not the case for the moon landing.

According to what can be gleaned from TV, cable and other ratings and polls, Obama’s inauguration was the most-watched event in TV history, including the moon landing, various Olympics and award ceremonies, and “last episodes” of shows like MASH, Seinfeld, etc.  The only event that might be close (or even) is 9/11.

Peace.
