The challenges of this new year, or at least its initial chapter, are already quite apparent—what with the dire situation in Gaza, the sputtering global economy and a major transition under way in the United States. Barack Obama, fresh off his Hawaiian holiday, has his work cut out for him, to say the very least.

“The ‘indigenous Palestinian people’ (we’ll leave that history lesson for another day but) were hardly faced with “Zionist expansionism” in Gaza over the last three years ... Israel expelled the Jewish residents and gave away the Gaza Strip in 2005.”

Really, the influx of European settlers and Zionist losers from Brooklyn and Philadelphia for whom their Jewish identity makes them “chosen” have greater legitimacy than families who can trace their roots back for generations?
They did not relinquish control of the Gaza strip—but continue to administer checkpoints, and control land sea, air while illegally expanding settlements.

“At that point the possibility existed of the Palestinian Arabs creating a fledgling state during those three years. With the huge influx of money they received from the UN, the EU and other donors, they could have built hospitals, schools, universities. They could even have taken over the successful greenhouses that were abandoned by Israel and begun to build an agricultural industry.

Instead, they promptly tore down those greenhouses and began to build up a quasi-military terrorist enclave. The Palestinian Arab leadership, whether PLO, the PA, or Hamas, has consistently shown that they don’t give a damn about the population for which they’re responsible.”

Easy enough said when Israel receives more US taxpayer money and weapons from the US taxpayer than any country on Earth—while crying that they are the ones pushed into the sea.

If the Israelis are so unhappy, just think how the indigenous Palestinian people feel under Zionist expansionism.

Mr. Scheer explains that far fewer Israelis have died than have Gazans.

Firstly, I want to apologize to him personally, and on behalf of all Israelis, that we’re not dying at a sufficiently fast rate for his taste. We’ll try to do better in the future.

Secondly, those numbers mask the reality of some eight years of rocket attacks on southern Israel. The number of deaths may not have been great enough for Mr. Scheer, but the attacks were intensive enough to make life unbearable for tens of thousands of Israeli citizens. Our government has at last chosen to end these attacks, and all but the most marginal fringes of Israeli society support them.

For more background on life in southern Israel in recent years, and on the reasons that Israel has finally decided to end the attacks from Hamas, may I recommend this article by Danny Gordis?

I expect that life looks sunny and simple for Mr. Scheer as he relaxes in tranquil Hawaii. For us Israelis, things are rather more complex than he seems to understand.

Tony Blankley—just like Newt—is a liar.  Polling shows that most of the indigenous Palestinian people favor a two-state solution.
