It may seem misguidedly America-centric to link the immediate future of many parts of the Middle East to President-elect Barack Obama, but because the U.S. has inserted itself so strongly into the region, a good deal undoubtedly rides on the choices of the next American administration. Link TV’s “Mosaic Intelligence Report,” in this week’s regional roundup, explores the Mideast’s potential challenges of 2009.

2009 will continue to reflect the same features of 2008, with some alterations:1-Additional deterioration in US integrity since there is no sign depicting important changes in its mediation process.2-Israel’s reputation will continue to erode before the Arab resistance movments, especially when noting that Israel is entering its 7th day of its aggression with no solution on sight.3-Relations between secular and religious forces will open new horizons for mutual cooperation against the existing pro-american Arab regime.4-Israel will come out of Gaza red handed, and will fail to exploit its war campaign against Hamas to provoke Hezbollah or Syria into aiding Hamas.5-Israel will continue to show additional signs of disorientaton in dealing with these challanges.6-Unlike previous situations,Israel will have to accept an international supervisory force to keep Israelis and Palestinans apart. This formula was first prposed by Clinton’s initiative of December 2000 but was rejected by Israel. Now with rockets flying deeper into Israeli cities,it would be wise for Israel to seriuosly revive this option.7-Economic crisis will top Obama’s agenda giving Europe the opportunity to expand its role in the middle-east affairs.

The Middle East in 2009 and beyond will continue to be a target shooting field of children, women, civilians and infrastructure. Its the area where the fascist Israelis and American will continue to test their weapons of mass destruction!

Finnish mediator Martti Ahtisaari accepted this year’s Nobel Peace Prize with a plea to President-elect Barack Obama:

Start pressing for Middle East peace as soon as you can.

Receiving the coveted award in Oslo, the former Finnish president rejected the notion that “the Middle East knot can never be untied” and criticized world leaders — as well as the Israelis and Palestinians — for letting the violence continue.

“The international community and those in power are sitting there letting them destroy each other. They are allowing both parties to make their lives in the future even more complicated and difficult than it is today.

“Peace is a question of will. All conflicts can be settled and there are no excuses for allowing them to become eternal,” he said.

Can Obama restore our image in the Middle East? Yes, but only after the US withdraws the troops from Iraq and stops its sucking up to Israel!

Some of my Kurdish friends have personally said to me that it will take many years to restore the American image.  Yes, they are glad that Hussein is gone…but American policy has been a roller coaster ride in Iraq.  How can they trust American policy when for the past 40-50 yrs it has been quite misguided which favored Britiah & American corporate greed and favored holding hands with powerful dictators with no human rights for the common citizen.  Something to think about.
