Dillweed O’Liely, the falafal man, is actually quite dangerous because there are some “loons” out there on the right who actually listen to this guy and think he actually knows anything, about, anything.

I think we should have torture for a very, very limited number of traitors—like Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, Justice Scalia (who said it was OK for a cop to slap a suspect around (!) ), Rush Limbaugh (cut off his drugs) and Ann Coultergeist (who, with her jaw wired shut is already being tortured).

Other than that, I’m against it.

By “far left” O’Reilly means “the New York Times, MSNBC commentators…”  This is one of the things that drives me NUTS.  There *is* a liberal press, there *is* a leftist press, but the New York Times AIN’T PART OF IT, and neither is MSNBC.  It’s Democrcay Now!, it’s The Nation, it’s In These Times, it’s Alternative Radio and AlterNet and Common Dreams amd scores of other publications, programs, and websites—I wish to heck that these rightwing jerks would get their damn NOMENCLATURE correct!

Personally, I think there are a lot of people who are simply besotted and smitten with the idea of inflicting torture on another human being, particularly so if they can feel totally righteous and justified at the same time.  It is very alluring, to be sure, but it is also a very slippery slope - and I think you know the kind of things that are waiting for us at the bottom of that slope.

The first step on that slope, by the way, is trying to call evil something other than what it is, and in this case the evil is called TORTURE.  If you think that’s what’s required, if you want to try to blackmail Obama by saying that “tens of thousands of Americans will die of you don’t approve it,” then you shouldn’t feel ashamed of the word, now, should you? 

But if you really know right from wrong, as your theme ditty tries to suggest, then you will know that torture is wrong, and that buying perhaps a few lives at the expense of our entire country’s soul is a bad bargain indeed - in truth, it is a deal with the Devil that you are promulgating.  I wonder what kind of commissions he’s paying these days.

Waterboarding, Extraordinary Rendition and suspension of Habius Corpus should be held over for those who find the practices acceptable.
In fact lets not just put folks like Billo in Gitmo, lets give him a ‘Friendly ‘roommate who loves his Smile!

Assuming Obama would follow O’Reilly’s advice:
Would only proven terrorists be subjected to torture or would we extend that privilege to SUSPECTED terrorists as well?  Who decides whether a subject is a SUSPECTED terrorist?  Would there be any checks and balances on CIA tortures, or would they be able to act without any accountability?
