Who knew Jon Stewart could carry a tune? The “Daily Show” host tries to get Stephen Colbert to warm to Hanukkah, with its wooden tops and potato pancakes, in this duet from “A Colbert Christmas.”

I was lucky enough to see Colbert live.  Having seen the broadcast I know that he can be a bit pitchy, but live singing with Paul Simon he actually carried the tune quite well. As long as it stays simple he avoids the pitch problems.

Maybe he’s been taking lessons

Huh - the really interesting point might be the significant difference to the broadcast version - the lack of the heavily laughing audience that punctuated throughout and kept it a bit more buoyant feeling. This was a bit too “musical number” without it.

I do like to read your stories.

I do like to watch both The Colbert Report and The Daily Show.

I’m still scratching my head as to the relevance of this story.

Why use precious space and resources to display this inconsenquential piece?

Can either Stewart or Colbert carry a tune?  Maybe - but I thought they both sounded electronically tweaked.  In fact, I was debating whether Colbert’s voice was being “corrected,” especially in the higher register, or whether a dubber’s voice was modified to sound like his.
