Palin Takes Aim at New Negative ReportsPosted on Nov 7, 2008
Having returned home to Alaska, Gov. Sarah Palin said she wasn’t going to comment on the negative reports that emerged about her on Wednesday from within the McCain campaign, but she opined that whoever made those claims was likely a “small ... evidently bitter type of person ... .” YouTube: Previous item: Election '08 as Seen From the Middle East Next item: President-Elect Obama Meets the Press Elsewhere: . Uh, hello, Duane, I think there’s a difference. People say “America” or “the United States” because it is easier than saying “the United States of America.” I think most people realize that “America” actually refers to the two continents - North and South. If they don’t, they shouldn’t be on a presidential ticket.

I do not understand why so many commentators, and so much of the pres s is making a case that Sarah Palin did not know that Africa was a continent, not a country.
In the U.S. the press and most of the society regularly call the U.S.-America. America is a continent (two) not a country. The name of our country is the United States of America.
There are 23 countries in the Americas.

OzarkMichael—It’s a fair comment to question anonymous sources for most news stories, but this is a case where you have Republican-assigned handlers and organizers speaking candidly about their own party’s vice presidential candidate. The only reason they don’t want their names mentioned is because they don’t want any retribution and would like to have a future in the party. They’re really in a ‘damned if you do-damned if you don’t’ situation. They can keep quiet and allow a total incompetent to gain credibility in their party, or they can speak up at some risk to themselves to expose the charade. Personally, I’m glad they’re talking. Palin would destroy whatever is left of the GOP.
By all means, let’s not give any President a free-pass and question them about their policies and proposals. I’m sure Obama expects that, as he should. But, since he was elected by an 8,000,000 vote margin and an electoral landslide, it might be a good idea to attack him AFTER he had made some mistakes, rather than before he’s even inaugurated.
As for his Nancy Reagan comment, Washington DC insiders are all fully aware of her behavior as First Lady and the fact that she brought a well-known astrologer into the White House to do a reading for her husband. These were allegely Born Again Christians, and were not supposed to believe in astrology. Anyway, it would have been better if Obama hadn’t made the “seance” reference, but everybody in the room knew exactly what he was talking about. And Nancy Reagan never made any secret of it.

Palin, is not smoke and mirrors, she aggravated the ignorant masses under a banner of hate, we should be watching her closely, until Alaska succeeds from he Union or she pulls herself out of the limelight, with some sort of integrity like McCain, but I will not hold my breath.

Per a typical Truthdigger: These are attempts, good attempts, to drive a stake though the heart of her political future. Her moment has passed.
Notice that there are no sources for all these ‘good attempts’. It is all ‘someone says that someone else says’. Oh but when it comes to Palin rumors have to be reported by the wolf pack and the implications of the rumor need to be talked about, and then astute guesses must be made and discussed, jokes and skits made… for days! Not just on ‘shows’ either, but on ‘News’ programs. After awhile it becomes a “fact” in the public mind. What do we call that process? What do we call that process when it is not an accident but done with purpose and intention? For the empowerment of one party… or one person?
“Attempts, good attempts” indeed.
The media has portrayed Obama as messiah to Palin’s clown. “Oh, see how great the difference is between them!” She has to be the national joke so that no one studies the real goals of the person who they just elected.
I have just listened to a tape where Barack Obama says, “the constitution has too many ‘negative liberties’ and not enough about the things that government must do for the people.” What does that mean exactly? The media didnt bother to report about this and they wont bother to ask him about it. Why not?
So what does ‘good attempts’ mean? It means we have “News” that doesnt need to be true, it just needs to serve the Purpose. And if truth hurts the One who will fulfill the Purpose, then it isnt news.
I am sorry, but I will not be signing on for ‘Unity’ and ‘Change’ at this price. I do not think that this is how to bring about a bright new morning in America, though i dearly want that new day.
To further ‘good attempts’, one should expect some new restrictions on free speech to be implemented by Democrats. It could come from Obama trying to placate the OIC, or it could come along the lines of limiting a conservative stronghold such as talk radio.
I say its time to begin poking fun at the new boss while we can. I dont care what color he is. Or how grand he supposedly is. He is President and we Americans make fun of our Presidents. Or are we supposed to stop doing that now? hahah. Anyway, these are all original ideas:
Obama celebrated his first press conference with a slur at the expense of an old lady(Nancy Reagan) in hospital with a broken hip. I believe he doesnt like the Reagans, and clearly he enjoyed his joke, but I see he apologized anyway. Its “just words” after all.
The man who ran Fannie May and began the process of concealing its massive losses, which eventually led to the financial market collapse, is not going to jail. Instead he is going to… the White House! as Obama’s Chief of Staff! Obama called it “CHANGE”, but Rob Emanuel calls it “BILLIONS” with more to come!
Report thisA woman said she is so glad that Obama won because now she “wont have to worry about house payments and trying to make ends meet.” She must figure that if Moses got manna to fall down from the sky, Obama can make the money rain down from heaven. Being inclined to guess where it will really come from, I plan to make less money next year.

Did I really just see Sarah Palin say in an interview that some of the leaked information about her behavior during the campaign was “cruel and mean-spirited”? Is this moron kidding? The same person who suggested that a sitting U.S. Senator “pals around with terrorists”, is a “socialist” and maybe a “communist”, and doesn’t “look at America like most of us do”? The same person who put on a pretty smile as she lied and distorted the facts every time she opened her mouth during the campaign? As I listened to her talk to the CNN reporter, I realized that she sounds like a high school kid, rarely finishing a sentence and resorting to cutesy phrases whenever she loses track of her own train of thought. The ignorance was embarrassing to watch. She also mentioned that she knows the difference between “Africa the continent and the country”, which means that she still doesn’t realize there is no country named Africa. If the 220,000 voters in the state of Alaska want this total ditz to be their governor, they can keep her. I guess she can’t do much damage in a state with less people than most cities, and a pipeline of revenue coming in from the oil companies. Unless she tries to shoot down Putin the next time he comes flyin’ over this great country of ours.

Hi Zach,
I don’t think there’s a way to do this, as there is on other sites. They experimented for a time, at allowing comments and replies directly to those comments to be grouped together. But, that didn’t last. So, we’re pretty much stuck with having to read them backwards…not unlike emails that have a ‘history’. It takes a little getting used to, but you will.
I’m so sorry (though not surprised) to hear your story. Things are pretty jacked up with the laws would rather put you back on welfare/medicaid than allow for the domestic partner health benefits. That’s an indication of the direction of the ideology of NOT (in this case) the ‘government’ as in the Thug regime we’ve had in place the last 8 years, but rather our OWN fellow citizens.
THAT’S what scares the living shit out of me. I’m still in shock that we’ve done the same thing in California. These are US citizens eliminating rights for themselves, via some legislation, and then they’ll turn around and holler that nobody should receive public assistance because it’s Marxist.

Palin was assertive and aggressive. Some people mistake that for being capable. Most Americans saw through Palin. She was not and would never make a good president. We need leaders not people good at delivering snide remarks. The GOP would be crazy to offer her as the candidate in 2012, 2016 or ever. And yes we do need to know exactly what she’s about. I’m thankful everything’s come out. Someday soon I hope we have a woman as president but it has to be someone worthy.

She probably is a self-promoter, but she doesn’t realize that she needs substance to promote. Why didn’t she release even a summary of her medical records? Why did it take so long for her pregnant daughter to get married (if she is; I haven’t seen anything about it)? It makes me sick to my stomach that John McCain put our country at risk of possibly having a commander and cheif that is not even aware that Africa is a continent. The single most important decision of McCains political career was the selection of the person that would be his 72 year old heartbeat away from becoming leader of the free world. What did John McCain base this decision on??.....Political gain, not our country. It was blatantly obvious to Americans that the selection of Sarah Palin was designed to sway Hillary voters his way,and had nothing to do with the intrest of our country, just his political campaign. This makes me truly beleive that if John McCain thought a Chimpanzee would get him elected, then he would have picked one for his running mate. His decision to pick such an inexperienced candidate was such an utter disreguard for the well being of our country that words cant do it justice. How do people like this even get into the position to possibly become our next president???

Ah, what sweet bliss that would be. However, because she does not get it, she’ll probably hang around until someone has mercy on her and finally sees to it that she gets a nice little lobotomy, although I dare say the surgeons might not have too much to work with. All those private plane rides, gifts, $150,000 (or more), etc, for you, first dude and your family surely should compensate for the self-perceived media biasness and attacks. Yeah sure, let Sarah be Sarah. In hind sight, maybe the campaign aides should have done that. Then she would have combusted immediately and we wouldnt have to put up with her for so long.

How do we learn from history if we turn our heads away because we don’t want to confront it? What the public saw Sarah Palin say and do on television and in her appearances shaped opinions more than media of any kind could. She represented McCain and the GOP quite poorly, and the question will always be “Did she have a large role in independents and some GOP voters not casting votes for McCain?” and “Did her comments such as ‘Palling around with terrorists’” cause people who know the difference between Al Queda and the Weathmen to vote for Obama? During all of this, where was the McCain we all respected two years ago, and did not see again until his concession speech?

Sarah Palin’s arrogance is matched only by her ignorance. Her body language on Tuesday night spoke volumes. I wasn’t at all surprised to learn she had prepared a speech (but thankfully, was advised by Schmidt that she would not be delivering it). I’m certain there would have been none of the conciliatory and gracious tenor that was imbued in McCain’s concession speech (and which did bring me to tears). I’m offended that she now pretends to want to “unite” people and “work together”. This runs a 180 to the message she conveyed while on her seditious and pernicious campaign trail. When she speaks, she goes fast and furious…as though filling up the air with empty (and often incoherent) sentences will somehow compensate for her abject lack of substance.
The best thing the press could do now - you know, the same media that had the temerity to actually ask her the exact questions posed to, and responded by, Joe Biden - is to NOT continue to provide her a platform from which she can wax on and on about her favorite subject: Sarah Palin.
Time to go home and parent your kids, Sarah.
p.s. Btw, not once have I seen “baby Trig” in any photos since Tue night. Why is that? She certainly saw fit to make sure we saw him in her arms all throughout the campaign. Interesting…

WHO would want to see her re-surface in 2012——let the news on her flow. It’s good for the country to see, that even those who were supposed to promote her, recognized her gross incompetence. Unfortunately, she doesn’t get it and we don’t need to see her again in a national race for anything.

I believe it is wrong to allow Palin to walk away from the deliberate lies she spread, from the spirit of hatred she helped engender, and from the devisive rhetoric she spewed. John McCain did not make Sarah Palin label me or those I know as the “less-than-real” America. John McCain did not attack Obama repeatedly on a very personal level. John McCain did not falter when it came to answering simple questions in press interviews—good, solid interview-type questions that we Americans, as her future employer, had a right to have answered.
Report thisWorst of all, Sarah has represented Christians in a terrible way, professing to be a follower of Christ, then deriding community organizers, complaining of “spreading the wealth” (sharing with others who have less), and lying over and over. Almost every word she uttered, and almost every action she took during this campaign, revealed a deep ignorance of her own alledged Christianity.

AnotherFloridaDemocrat—I beg to differ with your description of Sarah Palin, even though it does underline her ‘style over substance’ performance in the campaign. Never in my life have I seen such a grossly incompetent, unaware candidate for vice president. Her selection as McCain’s running-mate actually put the nation at risk. If John McCain had been elected and then died before the end of his term, we would have had a president who eschews the scientific method, has no knowledge of world events or national issues, and is only good at reading a teleprompter and winking. The misogynist leaders in the Middle East would have chewed her up. We came far too close to an unprecedented debacle, no matter how witty or charismatic you may have thought she was. The electorate was misled about Palin’s inadequacies by John McCain because he knew that her background could not stand up to any scrutiny. So he hid her from the press. Even then, she managed to say things like “I have foreign policy experience because you can see Russia from Alaska” or that “the Vice President runs the Congress”. This country cannot afford to have anything but the best minds sitting in the Oval Office. Having the best smile is a no-qualifier. This is not about being cruel. It’s about letting politicians know that we’re not going to buy this kind of cynical politics ever again.

Gov. Palin burst on the national campaign scene with incisive wit, impeccable delivery, confidence in her cause, and charisma that drew people to their feet applauding wildly. No wonder Democrats knew they had to discredit her immediately, or their campaign would suffer.
But, are you still afraid? You succeeded, and we have a new President-elect, President-to-be Obama. Sarah Palin and her operatives are trying to revise history and repair the damage she’s done over the last two months to her future in national politics. Campbell Brown on CNN says that Palin doesn’t deserve all the attacks, but I disagree. She earned every single one with her behavior since being picked to run for vice president by William Kristol, Fred Barnes, Dick Morris, Robert Bjork, and Dick Bolton back in 2007.
Palin wined and dined these Republican operatives at the Govenor’s mansion in Alaska, where she convinced them that she had the same “outsider”, down-home appeal that George W. Bush offered to the Republican base in 2000. She never told these men, nor did they ask if she knew anything about national or global affairs. They never asked her if she knew what the job description was for vice president. And they never gave her a pop quiz on world geography or U.S. history. She was a purely political choice, and she knew it.
The hundreds of thousands of dollars spent on clothes, hair and makeup are the least of her problems. At the top of the list I would put her demonstrated inability to put two coherent, complete sentences together. This is a person who has been in public life for decades, beginning as a television sportscaster and beauty pageant contestant. If she can’t speak intelligently by now without the aid of a script or a teleprompter, no amount of re-education will rehabilitate her.
I must admit that Palin is right, though. I am a little bitter about her candidacy. She wasted our time and, more importantly, she divided the country with her strident, incendiary rhetoric. To this day, she does not understand the damage she did during that despicable campaign. There are still many people parroting her discredited attacks on many blogs.

What they don’t see through thier rose colored glasses is that America has become more Brown, Black,Light Brown,Hispanic,Asian,Open minded whites,Gays and Native Americans. Your culture of hate and wealth for the few is over. You can’t get it back ,any more than you could revive the old south from the 50’s or 60’s. That being said, I hope Sarah becomes the Poster child for the 2012 GOP as she is the single most vacuous candidate I have evr seen. It would guarantee an Obama victory.
