McCain commercial

If there was any lingering doubt as to the tone that will characterize these last weeks on the campaign trail, take a look at this disapproving, if vague, McCain ad, in which a disdainful-sounding narrator claims Barack Obama did something dishonorable at some point in the campaign, and also, liberals are bad ... or something like that.

They must think we are stupid.  Why?  Because this country voted a buffoon into the presidency, twice.

Sorry to say.

This ad (and pretty much the entire McCain campaign) reveals the desperation of people who are clearly terrified of something.  Interestingly, it suggests that the terror has some kind of organic or biological origin.  Remember Hitler’s obsession with ‘racial purity’ and his fantasy of some kind of ‘pollution’ emanating from his (purely imaginary) ‘enemies’?  At the same time that they are supposedly somehow sub-human they are also a terrible threat. I am not trying to psychologize here or make some kind of sociological analysis.  But it does seem clear to me that the people who made the ad and the people who approved it have lost their capacity to behave with decency.  Indeed, it is apparent to me that they view Obama’s obvious and fundamental decency as a ‘weakness’ to ‘exploit.’  The thing to do is, I guess, to pray for them (if you’re a believer) and to try not to frighten them (if you’re not).

Alan Krueger asked just how stupid do these people think we are…Alan, they really do believe that we’re as stupid as they are!  They KNOW they’re lying. They KNOW they’re misleading, and they KNOW they’re treading on dangerous ground.  But they’re on a mission.  They are appealing to non-thinking Americans who consume each day a frothy diet of Faux Noise and Rush’s Grape Kook-Aid.

You know the type…those of the lynch mob mentality, the bigots, and the racists.  I have some of them in my own family and I am ashamed for them and of them.

This add, like the one accusing Obama of wanting to teach kindergartners sex education before they learn to read is so clearly ridiculous that I don’t think it will fool people.  Even McCain backer, while they will like the add, will say to themselves, “nice . . . but I don’t really believe it.”

CAREFUL Mac’s Puppet masters We have some REAL connection between you Candidates and some rather UnAmerican Affiliations or Sympathies.
“‘80’s Afghan Freedom Fighters” which Mac’s Anti Communist Group provided Even Boots to…aka Bin Laden adn AQ
Phil Gramm over his Right shoulder Who Orchestrated a far more reaching and devastating Economic Effect then when the WTCs actually Collapsed?
Sarah and her Separarist Sympathies Very akin to the Michigan Militias. ‘First Dudes’ Leader sounds alot like Timothy McVey.
And Then there is her Anti abortion fervor…Same as those who Bombed Planned Parenthood Clinics, murdered Their Docs and Ultimatley Pipe bombed the Atlana Oylmpics!
So bring Out Ayers and the lack of affiliation with an 8 yr old. We have both Mac’s and Sarahs’ ADULT affilations to Review for Public consumption!

Well, the two year old presidential campaign, like the country, has reached new lows! Republican attack dog, Palin, with no good name to lose, leads the charge…

Having given us with the worst excuse for a pResident in American history, they are now stooping to shameful sub-Rovian methods in order to incite racial hatred and make Obama appear a liar who hangs out with terrorists… All of this, to continue the NeoCON debacle for another four years…...........

Looking at the worn out, feeble McCain, this would mean a vote for Palin as pResident! We may as well keep Bush!

Seems to me that Palin may need ANOTHER exorcism!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S62Z37bIZHk

Just how dumb do these people think we are?

This narrator…. she reminds me very much of the narrator of the EV1 Electric Car ads, which were obviously subliminally crafted and tailored to scare consumers away.

Surprisingly, I’ve had no success tracking this ad down on YouTube etc, but if you rent the movie “Who Killed The Electric Car?” you’ll see what I mean.

It really makes me wonder about what exactly is going on in campaign advertising committees.

I imagine that every little detail is considered for maximum psychological impact. The oddly angled “graphic landscape”, out of focus and black&white;, with the upper left corner over-exposed—all this seems to be meant to disorient the viewer.

Most important is the audio. The dour and ominous voice over, feigning concern, is complimented by equally morose music. Until, of course, Mr. McCain’s face pops up, then it is all twinkly, hopeful chords. It’s very strange to me, but also obviously the most base type of manipulative advertising. It shows disdain for the voting populace - perhaps, I hate to say, deservedly so, because 1) biology often makes us ill-prepared to fend off such crafted onslaughts of information directly aimed at our emotional response, thus 2) it works.

This is the same reason children FREAK OUT about toys and cereal on TV.
In regards to the advertising industry, I think Bill Hicks had some great advice….

The McCain ad snips a few words of Obama’s speech.  So glad to see McCain wasting his campaign dollars on such trivia.

NYT report: Petraeus said in an interview this week that he expected the fight against the insurgents in Afghanistan and Pakistan to get worse before it got better. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/01/world/asia/01petraeus.html?scp=1&sq=Petraeus insurgents Afghanistan and Pakistan&st=cse

McCain and Palin is totally unfit to be in office, sticking the people of Alaska with a bill when she stays in her own home is criminal, plus she tells so many lies to the American people openly as if we are all dumb. Telling everyone that she stopped the bridge to no where is a lie too, she was not even sworn into office when that happened. then their is her husband who wanted Alaska along with herself to leave the U.S. Plus the lie about the plane that she said that she sold on EBay, when all she did was out it up for Auction but was sold through a broker, what a total liar she is and so is McCain. McCain is a traitor to our great country, making all those videos to save his own life, what a coward is and was, I guess country did not come first then, he siad it himself, he did not love America until he was in that POW camp.
