ABC’s Gibson to Palin: ‘Are We Fighting a Holy War?’Posted on Sep 11, 2008
In this clip from the sit-down session with ABC News’ Charlie Gibson and Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin, Gibson asks Palin to elaborate upon a statement she made earlier this year about the war in Iraq: “Our national leaders are sending them [U.S. military members] out on a task that is from God.” Here’s her response, in which she claims she was paraphrasing President Abraham Lincoln. AND IT’S GODS WILL TO KILL WOLVES FROM THE AIR WHERE THEY HAVE NO PLACE TO HIDE. EVEN THOUGH HUMANS WERE TO BY CARETAKERS OF THE ANIMALS. ACCORDING TO GOD.
WE ALL SEE HOW SARAH TAKES CARE OF SOMETHING. KILL IT.
And in these last days…oh great another political mouthpiece who feels too comfortable trying to destroy every living thing on the planet to fulfill end time prophecy. According to Revelations.
There is nothing wrong with aborting a fetus, forced upon a woman who was raped. If men could get pregnant this rule would change and fast. What is immoral about a woman being raped is that, in the Old Testament, God says a woman who is raped should be forced to marry her rapist. Now that is IMMORAL and SADISTIC.
With all the books Sarah wanted on the ban list in Wasill(y)a’s library, surely the Bible should have made top of the list, as it is filled with violence against innocents, encourages the killing of strangers into your towns, wars to justify Gods anger management problems, destruction of children who make fun of bald men, the cursing of no rain for years on end, thus assuring nothing would be alive after 3-4 years of total earthly drought, and the list is endless.
As most adults I have talked to, we think we have enough intelligence to decide whether to read a book or not. Letting someone censor everything she feels is not appropriate is the taking of another of the last rights you still have left after 8 years of Republican rule. It looks as though they are gearing up to a “one religion for all” across America and with this person it is her task from God to see to it that it happens. Don’t believe in her God? Want to know your fate then? Look at other fanatical religious extremists and what they do to non-believers. She is no better and maybe worse than they are.

Exactly! Palin injects religion into whatever suits her. She thinks having a mentally disabled child puts her into the category of martyrism. My sister is mentally retarded and my mother did not leave her at 3 days old to go better her career. And she didn’t parade another child on stage, unwed and pregnant, to be a hatchet job for the press.

Re: CarolO
Believe I’ve finally sorted out the pro-life righteousness codes that “a VP Palin” would expect American women to live by:
It is just and moral for a society to execute a criminal for his crimes, BUT it is unjust and immoral for a woman who has been raped to abort the seed of the criminal who raped her.
It is just and moral for women to send their children off to other countries to kill for reasons of freedom, liberty, politics, oil, and/or religious beliefs of dispensationism, BUT it is unjust and immoral for women to abort a fetus or fertilized egg for reasons of despair, incest, physical illness, or mental well-being.

More like she’s paraphrasing Osama Bin Laden. Her beliefs eerily remind me of certain religious extremism the US talks about wanting to defeat. The contradictions never end with this lady.

She plays to her crowd. She’s deceptive and duplicitious. What more could we want in a VP? Unfortunatly, McCain wants this power so bad, he’s stooped to all and any means to get it. Rovian politics, a bone to the far-right evanglicals, whatever it takes. Pinkie and the Brain comes to mind…very scary.

If briefing Palin for several days produced no better interview than this, God help us if she says something off-the-cuff. Her very first interview and already talking about war with Russia. And since when does God like war and the killing of innocents?
Not only does she have a distorted view of world politics, she has a distorted view on religion. It works for her when it comes time for abortion but doesn’t work for her when it’s time to send young people into combat zones to be killed. She is nuts!

Note Wildflower’s helpful trancript of Palin’s sermon at her church…the final statement….“In the last days people will seek refuge in Alaska—we have to be ready to administer to them…” Palin is planning for what I mentioned in my former post “the in times” or “last days” before the Apocalypse. This is truly terrifying: WHY ISN’T SHE BEING QUESTIONNED ABOUT THAT STATEMENT?” It reveals she has an agenda of ushering in all the calamities that extremist Christians believe will finally get them God’s goodies.
Report thisProgressive Christians—like myself—believe we have been given free will and we have the power to avert wars and global warming. God is love and creativity and this creativity can change things and allows for different religious expressions and ways of living. Palin’s view is hateful, dark and fatal: Christianity become satanism.

Do not try to make sense of her statements, because it is impossible. Quoting Abraham Lincoln was truly “over the top”...the Repug spinmeisters had to figure out something, anything to respond to that church video. How about THIS statement, attributed to the Bible, LINCOLN, Ben Franklin or Confucius? (You decide)...“It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

Its hard for me to understand how any woman, including Palin, can become so enthusiastic about sending her first born off to Iraq where he will undoubtedly be killing other womens children.
Yes, she is one mixed up lady. . .Somehow its immoral for a rape victim to abort the sperm of the criminal that raped her; yet, Palin is proud to be sending her first born off to Iraq where he will be killing other womens children for our country? for our democracy? for our freedom?

Doesnt look like the Governor was being very honest with Charley. I listened to her presentation to the Wasilla Assembly of God youth group, and although Palin and Pastor Kalnin talk a lot about God, Gods will, and Gods plans, at no time did I hear either one of them mention Abe Lincoln. But what they do say is:
. . . I think Gods will has to be done in unifying people and companies to get that gas line built . . . [Palin]
. . . Ill be doing my job in developing natural resources . . . but really all that stuff doesnt do any good if the people of Alaskas part isnt right with God. And thats going to be your job. . . As Im doing my job . . . your job is going to be out there reaching the people . . . and we can work together to make sure Gods will be done here. [Palin]
. . . Pray for our military men and women, who are striving to do what is right, also for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders are sending them out on a task that is from God. [Palin]
. . . that is what we have to make sure we are praying for, that there is a plan and that plan is Gods plan. . . [Palin]
. . . There was something about the natural resources, about the state, there was some things that God wants to tap into, to be a refuge for the lower 48, and I believe Alaska is one of the refuge states. . . in the last days, and hundreds and thousands of people are going to come to this state to seek refuge, and the church has to be ready to administer to them. [Pastor Kalnin with nods from Palin]

If Palin was quoting Lincoln at her extremist church why didn’t she credit him then? BECAUSE this is spin generated to cover her “in times” apocalyptic beliefs that she is an agent of God in a Holy War. Her church believes that Russia is part of that which proceeds the “second coming of Christ” as they call it—and she WILL lie about her role in helping this twisted view of Christianity occur—she is a Christian Jihadist that feels like most terrorists do—that the means-lies-murders and all—will justify the end. LOOK OUT—she is capable of anything. Further, her belief that global warming is not real-despite northern Alaska now becoming ocean—stem from the same extremist Christianity. Everything she does will be generated by her view as an agent of God.
