No Maverick
barackobama.com

With its latest ad, “No Maverick,” Barack Obama’s team takes aim at John McCain’s self-styled rabble-rousin’ outsider image, offering a few examples of why the “maverick” line doesn’t work for the Arizona senator or his new sidekick from Alaska.

Adam- stick this in your crack pipe and smoke it:

The federal minimum wage hasnt doubled in ten years. Real wages have declined from 2000 to 2007 however.

“I hope we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our moneyed
corporations, which dare already to challenge our government to a
trial of strength and bid
defiance to the laws of our country.”

Wow indeed ADAM. A true compassionate patriot you are.
I suppose you are NOT paying for the occupation of Iraq. I heard that rabid lunatics and ignorant morons get a dispensation for spreading the lies of the corporate cartel that staged a coup in 2000.

The rest of us are tired of being the SOMEONES, EVERYWHERE, who are paying for the excesses from power without oversight.

Enough!
You may suppress the votes, you may steal elections but the time for reckoning will eventually come, and you like everyone else will have to pay the piper.

From today’s Huffington post article by Arianna Huffington. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/arianna-huffington/sarah-palin-a-trojan-moos_b_124867.html

Every second of this campaign not spent talking about the Republican Party’s record, and John McCain’s role in that record, is a victory for John McCain.

Her critics like to say that Palin hasn’t accomplished anything. I disagree: in the space of ten days she’s succeeded in distracting the entire country from the horrific Bush record—and McCain’s complicity in it. My friends, that’s accomplishment we can believe in.

Just look at the problem John McCain faced. George Bush has a disastrous record, and the country knows it. John McCain—the current one, not the one who vanished eight years ago—has no major disagreements with George Bush (and I’m sorry, wanting to fire Donald Rumsfeld a bit sooner doesn’t qualify) and wants to continue his incredibly unpopular policies for another four years. The solution? Enter Sarah Palin, a Trojan Moose carrying four more years of disaster.

And the plan has worked beautifully. Just look at what’s being discussed just 57 days before the election. Is it the highest unemployment rate in five years? The bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac? The suicide bombing yesterday in Iraq that killed six people and wounded 54—in the same market where last month a bomb killed 28 people and wounded 72? That the political reconciliation that was supposedly the point of “the surge” is nowhere near happening? That Iraq’s Shiite government is now rounding up the American-backed Sunni leaders of the Awakening? That the reason 8,000 soldiers may be leaving Iraq soon is so more can be deployed to Afghanistan where the Taliban is steadily retaking the country?

No. We’re talking about whether Sarah Palin was or was not a good mayor, whether she was or was not a good mother, whether her skirts are too short and her zingers too sarcastic.

Contrary to what we’re hearing 24/7 in the media, the next few weeks are not a test of Sarah Palin. The next few weeks are a test of Barack Obama.

He needs to dramatically redirect this election back to a discussion over the issues that really matter—the issues that will impact the future of this country. A presidential campaign is a battle and this is the time for Obama to show some commander-in-chief skills. I’m not talking about calling Palin out for lying about his record and demeaning community organizing. I’m talking about grabbing the political debate by the throat. The country is already angry about what’s happened over the last seven-plus years—he shouldn’t be afraid to give voice to that anger. Obama has spent years adopting a non-threatening persona; but he can’t let his fear that appearing like an “angry Black man” (a stereotype not-too-subtly fueled by Fox News) will turn off swing voters keep him from channeling the disgust and outrage felt by so many voters—swing and otherwise.

McCain’s team, in an effort to distract, is going to keep doing what they’re doing—diverting voters and the media with a tantalizing combination of personal trivia and small lies. It doesn’t matter if they’re caught in them—in fact, all the better. Because they know there is no way in hell they can win if this election is about the big truth of the Bush years.

McCain’s real running mate is George Bush and the failed policies of the Republican Party. Even if they are dressed up in a skirt, lipstick, and Tina Fey glasses.

Did Sarah Palin wrongfully push to have her ex-brother-in law fired? Was she really against the “Bridge to Nowhere?” Did she really sell Alaska’s plane on eBay, or just list it on eBay? Did she actual…

wow.  i think most of you need to wake up from you utopian dream.  yeah, most people want many of the things you have listed.  however, SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE will have to pay for all these things you want to give away for free.  also, many of the problems you want solved (i.e. jobs sent overseas and this “recession” you speak of) are caused by the liberals.  corporations wouldnt have to send jobs overseas if we didnt charge the second highest corporate income taxes or if the minimum wage didnt DOUBLE in the last 10 years.  basically, dont tell businesses how to do business.  if you mess with the market, it will change.  if you dont like the changes it makes (jobs overseas) then dont make them make changes (DOUBLING the minimum wage. yeah the wage you pay someone to SWEEP THE FLOORS or FLIP BURGERS!  they dont deserve $10/hour!!).  if you liberals would actually read some of the writings from the founding fathers you would understand how this country prospered over the first 200 years.

The Man who wants to tell us what to do as president says that he is all for “Change” at least as to which particular Right Wing thinking, Evangelical preaching, war loving, Neo Con touting, 95% voting Republican sits in the Oval Office.  That is a change, of a sorts, I guess so he is not technically lying to everyone.

He says in his campaign propaganda he wants to make all kinds of happy Changes once he is in control. . .

•  so long as the Changes do not involve taxing the incredibly rich,
•  so long as the Changes do not involve eliminating our fatal dependence on oil,
•  so long as the Changes do not involve regulating or cleaning up the environment in a useful way,
•  so long as the Changes do not involve removing the proven nincompoops and partisan zealots in the current bureaucracy,
•  so long as the Changes do not involve keeping jobs in America, worker’s rights or equal pay for equal work,
•  so long as the Changes do not involve requiring insuring health care is available for everyone,
•  so long as the Changes do not involve maintaining social security or welfare for those who need it,
•  so long as the Changes do not involve expanding benefits for veterans or wounded,
•  so long as the Changes do not involve enhancing college and upward mobility (except through rich trophy wives),
•  so long as the Changes do not involve keeping armor piercing, long range, 50 caliber, assault rifles capable of bringing down airlines out of catalogs,
•  so long as the Changes do not involve granting same sexes the choice of marriage,
•  so long as the Changes do not involve freedom from religion,
•  so long as the Changes do not involve free speech for dissenters, open meetings, equal time or continued public control of the airwaves,
•  so long as the Changes do not involve restricting corporate consolidation of businesses and farms in the few,
•  so long as the Changes do not involve regulating greedy excesses and stupidities in the business and financial world,
•  so long as the Changes do not involve restricting access by Republican lobbyists or their deep pockets,
•  so long as the Changes do not involve verifiable paper ballots when Republican built electronic voting machines are used,
•  so long as the Changes do not involve redistricting or changing prior Republican gerrymandering,
•  so long as the Changes do not involve revealing crimes or blunders of the prior Administration,
•  so long as the Changes do not involve admitting the economy is in recession, any wrongdoing or saying sorry,
•  so long as the Changes do not involve giving up the right to spy without warrants, to torture, and to prison forever without trial or counsel,
•  so long as the Changes do not involve restrictions on threatening, invading and occupying foreign countries without cause,
•  so long as the Changes do not involve allowing Democrats any say in future selection of judges.

There is at least one change though that we can be assured he will attempt – to change the Supreme Court so that Roe v. Wade can be overturned to eliminate the right of Choice for women.  Well, actually it’s not entirely true that he wants to eliminate all Choices for women.  Women will still retain the choice of using coat hangers in back alleys or not.  That is both a Change and a Choice.

Congratulations on Sen. Obama’s commercial exposing the lies and hypocrisy of Sen. John Bush McCain and Gov. Sarah Cheney Palin’s “maverick” claim. Now do the same thing for the Republican’s allegation of “change,” i.e., same recession and taxes, same war, same ecology, same energy policy with high gas prices, and same Republican lies.

This is excellent and hard hitting and definitely needed to counter the preponderance of GOP smears, lies and obfuscation surrounding this election. It’s sad that our political discourse has been reduced to this.

Keep it up, Obama! Biden, I will relish what you do to Palin in the debates. Just hit her on any and every issue because she is not in line with mainstream America! Call her out on her lies!

Why does Palin hide in the shadows and expect to be unscrupulously passed over? The Homeland Security folks love to say, “Hey if you’re not guilty, you’ve got nothing to hide from!” when they tap your phones and read your mail. Why isn’t the standard held to McCain or Palin?

...Oh! That’s right! She’s a good ol’ gal. A visual metaphor for America, and so she can do no wrong because America can do no wrong! NOw I get it… it being a migraine!

Good article…http://www.huffingtonpost.com/arianna-huffington/sarah-palin-a-trojan-moos_b_124867.html…I wholeheartedly agree. Distract your attention with idiocy…book banning, speaking in tongues, polar bears (for God’s sake!!)...time to focus on what’s important/should be important to the voters in this election. Leave it to the Repugs to use smoke and mirrors in attacking our sensibilities with NONSENSE. Time for Obama/Biden to cut through the haze and hammer their agenda.  WAKE UP, AMERICA!! Our future depends on it!!
