Consider this the only gender-bias-in-the-media primer you’ll ever need, and a handy reminder to the Bill O’Reilly and Dick Morris types (not to mention Monsieur Rove) that gender bias cuts both ways—and sometimes, as Jon Stewart points out, the same people do the cutting without seeming to remember just a few short weeks later.

Other media outlets, such as Politico, are pointing out the potential for a double-standard when it comes to media scrutiny of candidates, regardless of their gender.

Bill-O, K. Rove, Morris and Hannity et al symbolize the spin-zone media of political disinformation so effectively that its successes compare to the fascist and communist regimes of recent decades. Is there really a difference if the spin-meisters are conservatives, leftists, neoCONS, or a lobbyist consortium?

The Daily Show is back.  It was hurting for some time (i.e.: Tina Fey).  But, they’ve been on the ball all of this week.  Keep it up, Jon!

As an American, I loved this country based on its diversity, strength, and freedom. Was brought up Republican – changed to Independent 8 years ago – dumbfounded by all the “B.S.” being dished out BY the government and its administration!!!! In a time when the world dislikes us, in a time of layoff’s, housing crashes, in a time of a losing economy, in a time of killing our own people from a war that should have never been (not to mention the people of Iraq)… “The serge is working?”  Working on killing innocent people in a war based on lies!
I am so tired that one race claims precedence over another based on color – Focus on THE ISSUES not the gender or the race. Forget the party - Which person is even talking equality of a human being? Which person is talking about fixing what the U.S. needlessly destroyed here at home and overseas? Which person is talking about a plan for the economy instead of attacking the other person? Which person is FOR ALL THE PEOPLE as one nation, one world? Which person is not afraid to say – “I can’t do this on my own, but together as Americans we can be proud of our accomplishments if we work hard for change together as ONE? Which person is looking out for OUR ONE World to avoid global devastation?
Instead of focusing on color, age, who did or not do something right/wrong in the past – open up your eyes and look to the PERSON who believes in change. Are we so IGNORANT to think one race is better than the other? Almighty have mercy on those do! Stop the lies!!!! Stop the slander!!!! Let’s focus on the HUMAN BEING that is willing to work with us for change. Let go of your fear of race – let go of your fear of gender – Focus on rebuilding a PROUD America – one who can live with equality, who can love their fellow man without prejudice, who will have the opportunity to work and to their bills, to afford to live, and to have medical care like all other Countries in OUR World do. Focus on the person who will work with us in keeping the world safe, here and abroad when ignorant people try to hurt others based on truth!
We all have a past, we all have made right and wrong decisions – that’s why we are HUMAN BEINGS. We ALL strive to excel in our work and life even though our past experiences may not have been totally focused to the challenge that one faces.  Thanks to the people who have the desire and drive to take on difficult challenges and who want to help make a difference for all PEOPLE regardless of past experience.
Ask yourself if you would have supported by voting and signing bills based on the crap that has been presented by the current administration? Who can blame one for not? At least someone had the balls to stand up and not vote when “B.S.” was being dished out from this administration - Current support and ratings of this administration is the lowest ever in history.
So for our sake, for our children’s sake, for the sake of all others – have the balls to break down barriers and vote for change – We all must say enough to being led by division, by fear, by war mongers’,  and hypocrites. Say enough to our sons and daughters needlessly dying or being drafted by people who encourage wars to line their own pockets – say enough to the party division of America.  Let’s vote for change whoever can best lay out their plans for change based on fact – not ignorance, not prejudice, and not a lie!

What is this dumb survey that asks viewers to vote on one of four choices about how great McCains speech was last night. There is no place to vote none of the above. Why is the media trying to put such a positive spin on McCain’s awful performance last night. If the media is “liberal” it sure doesn’t look that way. Twice last night when analysts basically said McCain’s speech was bad, the network commentator tried to spin it as positive except when the CNN analyst said the speech was the worst since 1980 and the network could not spin a comment that negative. Chris Matthew’s and David Gregory were particularly bad. Gregory seems to be on a mission to challenge every assertion that is negative about McCain or positive about Obama. He has been doing this for some time. Matthew’s seems bent on being the representative of the Reagan Democrats, as if they make up 100% of the American population. Why the fascination with this voting bloc? O’Reilly was up to his old tricks trying to put words in Obama’s mouth about the surge working. Half of the interview was O’Reilly giving us his worldview, which is irrelevant since he is not running for office. He basically wasted the little amount of time he had with Obama. No wonder a lot of personages refuse to appear on his show. At one point, O’Reilly asked Obama why he just didn’t admit that the surge worked, and I’m sure Obama wanted to tell him “Bill, I will agree the surge has worked if you will agree that you’re an a—hole. ”

All the Right Wing Tools who come and try and rain down their angry fury on Obama should really take into account who is pulling their heart strings, these hypocritical party sycophants.

You’re being lied to, and you ask for more. Completely out of touch with reality.

When O’bama left Bill O’Reilly’s studio yesterday, and walked into the daylight he looked like a different person.

In the studio O’Reilley distorted O’Bama’s good looks with bad lighting.  He distorted O’Bama’s words in his questioning of past statement’s made by O’Bama. O’Reilly came across, as the playground bully we all know and dislike.

O’bama was elevated in my eyes for the job he did holding his own, against this war monger, and for walking into the line of fire. It would appear that MCain now has two “pit bulls” working the crowd.

Stewart’s Wednesday night show was one of his best.  It make be fake news, but if it’s real journalism you want, The Daily Show is often the only place to find it on tv.

Why can’t political ads be as good as the Daily Show?

The Dems could run this whole clip.

Remember Jon Stewart is also a part of the corporate media. It is all well and good and funny that he exposes these hypocrisies but it is obvious that this is just mere playtime to help the preordained agenda.
I consider Maher, Moore and Stewart gatekeepers who help control the debate for the hands that feed them.
They will give you a little crumb but never the whole sandwich.

The tape does not lie and Stewart has the tape on all of them! Really a great bit of throwing it back in their faces for the Daily Show to come up with this hilarious bit of fact checking. . .everyone needs to see it.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Corporate media, conservative biased, neocon driven, brainwashingly effective and for years and years in the tampering, say somewhere from in the 1930s, and that is a long time fishing for the perfect dopes, dupes and brainlessly thoughtless fish that are on the stringer that will be all too ready to still get mccain/palin elected. Joseph Goebbels must be smiling down on this as he stands behind god on his throne giving HIM advice for his next move. Its 50/50.
I would like not to think that the 70% to 80% that are not happy with the direction this country is going would break down and help elect the surrogate of w & dick because they are ‘confused’ or ‘converted’.

BobZ…

Interesting points. But we should keep in mind that our media is corporate-owned and thus “Corporate Media.” As such, it is fundamentally Republican-leaning. Moreover, this Corporate Media would like nothing more than to present this race as a close and suspenseful contest in order to maximize audience (and by simple extension, command higher advertising fees).

With the above in mind, the presentation of Palin as a viable, “maverick” candidate is laughable…but not surprising. (But can you just imagine the Republican response if Obama had selected a similiarly clueless running mate?) I’m surprised everyone in Minnesota isn’t dizzy from all the spinning going on at that convention!

The media NEEDS to keep Palin viable or there’s no horse race. A projected Obama landslide would eventually bore the electorate and turn away viewers. Fewer viewers, less audience. Less audience, lower advertising dollars. I realize this all sounds like a conspiracy but actually it isn’t; it’s just a natural extension of commercial broadcasting.

It’s what we get when we have an ignorant electorate more interested in being entertained than informed.

Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Bill Maher, and Michael Moore sure have a knack of exposing hypocrisy in our politicians and the media. Thank God for them. They are a breath of fresh air. The media for the most part are way to cozy with politicians and it shows up in the fawning coverage they give them. Just look at the way they fell all over themselves last night in grading Palins performance. They gave her an “A”, while the bloggers gave her a “C”. Not one commentator bothered to point out how she just used the paint-by-the-numbers speech drawn from the 1968 Richard Nixon archives and updated with new names. And the media has been slow in holding the Republican’s accountable for the miserable performance of the Bush Administration over the last eight years. It will be interesting to see how the McCain shelters Palin from the scrutiny of the press once they are out on the campaign trail. Jon Stewart needs to get on the media more often. We need more Cambell Brown moments on television where she holds Tucker Bounds feet to the fire about Palin. She was so good, she infuriated McCain and he refused to appear on Larry King. The Republican Party should be attacked by the media every time they try to portray them as biased. The fourth estate has a critically important role in our society. If they had been more critical in the Iraq war run up, we may not be sitting here debating about how we are going to extricate ourselves from Iraq. Thanks Jon - keep up the good fight for all of us.
