Although the story was corrected later, the first version of AP writer Charles Babington’s critique of Barack Obama’s acceptance speech Thursday night contained at least one technical error and other potential discrepancies that some analysts, such as MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann, considered to be off-base, to put it mildly.

We’ll just let Olbermann speak for himself in this case:

I hope your moderator has the stones to put this up because it’s a fair and accurate point.

Journalists are sent embargoed copies of speeches, hours in advance.  That’s why you see anchors reading portions of the speech before they’re given.  That’s how writers can hit their deadlines.  Keith’s intimation that he wrote it without seeing it…...is a lie.  And he knows it.

Keith would be the absolute best Whitehouse Press Secretary.
I hope Obama offers it to him.
Whitehouse news could actually be interesting again like years ago, before W rule.

Subject:From Eisenhower’s Honesty to Obama’s Sincerity?

I am an Independent voter who will cast his vote for
Senator Barack Obama,on November4,2008 Presidential
election;regardless of what the Associated Press and its reporter,Charles Babington,or anybody else have already said and may say uncomplimentary comments and articles against Obama. It has not been easy to reach this decision, but, somehow,I have reached it.There is NO returning back.

A Presidential candidate like Obama, who has endured all kind of political smears and sneers from all segments of the political spectrum;and consequently
has succeeded in giving the American people and the people of the world the greatest and most successful
political convention I have seen in my adult life, has
earned my vote fairly and squarely.I am a political junkie since President Dwight Eisenhower won his two terms(and deservingly so)by landslides,in the 1950s Presidential elections.I consider President Eisenhower as one of the greatest presidents who ever occupied the White House.Reasons:

(1)Stopped the Korean War according to International laws and through the good offices of the United Nations.Respect to International laws is a must if the people of the world care to live in peace. There is NO other way.
(2)Kept the peace, world wide, while kept the Soviet Union in check,at all times.
(3)Had always always always “preserved, protected and defended the Constitution” of the U.S.His firm stand on protecting the rights of African American high school students to attend all white-school in Little
Rock,AR is well documented for the student of history
to study. It was a magnificent and truly presidential performance when he sent the National Guards to protect the African American students who wished to attend the all-white public school in Little Rock.I had witnessed all that on my Black&white;TV from the
beginning of the crisis till its successful end.
(4)His compassion and care for the poor was profound.
His writings, statements and comments attest to that.
Well documented.
(5)Without Eisenhower’s vision,Building Interstate
Highways System might not have taken place. And perhaps, the only way to cross the country from East to West might have remained the overcrowded, then, the
two-lanes highway called Highway 66.I have no idea if
Highway 66 still exists and operational.
(6)His honesty and moral authority were admired by allies, friends and adversaries alike, even by the vast
majority of the people of the Soviet Union, the U.S.
arch enemy, then. And his honesty has shone till present time when one discovers that he was the only
President who warned the American people of the danger of the Military Industrial Complex to their
future and livelihood.Sounds familiar?,with war in Iraq going on and the 180,000 private contractors there bankrupting the American treasury,in addition to human slaughters that have been going on for the last five years. When Obama said in his acceptance speech, with his voice rising, for all Americans to hear:ENOUGH,his sincerity had/has penetrated the core
my well-being and reminded me of the honesty of President Eisenhower as I watched him and listened to his wisdoms in 1950s.

I went through all of the above outline to show that only a policy and presidential behavior similar to
Eisenhower’s who had successfully governed with HONESTY,MORAL AUTHORITY and WISDOM,might save the whole world from the DISASTERS I sensed developing from the failed policy of the last eight years,if a
warmonger like John McCain elected.

The sincerity I have sensed in Obama,I could not sense in McCain.Sincerity matters. That is the main
reason that has persuaded me to vote for Obama. And I
will.

A special “Thank you” to Keith Olberman of MSNBC.
