Obama, McCain Camps Clash Over Attack AdPosted on Jul 27, 2008
Barack Obama’s decision to forgo a visit with wounded U.S. troops in Germany during the European leg of his recent international sojourn gave John McCain’s camp the idea for a new advertisement criticizing the Illinois senator, although Obama’s team and Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel beg to differ with its premise. I’ve been visiting both Obama’s and McCain’s websites since the primaries, and McCain’s lacked any substantial thought on the subject until the general election. His site revealed little information on the subject , containing only his stand on advocating vouchers. Now, it’s been expanded, but I doubt that he even knows what’s there.
Obama has posted a more detailed plan from the very beginning. His plan includes ideas to address a multitude of problems at all levels, and addresses the needs of all students; not just the ones smart enough, rich enough, or behaved enough to qualify for private or charter schoolsMcCain would leave a whole group of students behind, since he hasn’t articulated what he would do with those students who don’t qualify for placements with entrance and attendance requirements.
Furthermore, check these clash videos I found yesterday about the US Presidential candidates have talked taxes. Well, it’s entitled Obama v. McCain on Taxes. Watch these statements - then vote in http://clashorama.com/index.php?id=194

WOW Mike Carter. You hit it all right where it cant be ignored, (even though the smear mongers are trying their best).
I had commented on this from another thread, EVEN BEFORE I saw the ad or heard the story of Obama allegedly backing out of a planned visit to the troops in Germany. It begs the question, WHY did the Pentagon *not* want the press/cameras along on the visit?
It also speaks to a matter of why Senator Obama hasnt been to Iraq in what the ad claims as years. Actually, he was there I believe, (and someone can correct me if Im wrong here, since Im not going to take the time to confirm it at the moment) in 2006. That would have been his first reasonable opportunity to get there, although I suppose many could argue that he should have made the trip the moment he became a Senator..like maybe to see the destruction for himself, on this horror that hed spoken out against so vehemently, before it was ever launched.
However, that WOULD have certainly been the very soonest, because its been no easy task for ANY of members of Congress to jut decide to go over there, just as Congress has never been allowed any unsupervised visits to Gitmo, to see whats actually going on there. So, to hear the innuendo from this ad, (and all of the other hate mongers) youd think that any one of us, private citizen or local government official, could just call the travel agent and hook up a trip to Iraq.
Same with the whole thing about not supporting the troops. Not only did he insist on the GI bill, (which took tons of arm twisting to get by Dick Bush) but he forced legislation on the care of veterans who were being under-diagnosed (for lack of a better word) in terms of PTSD and other combat related injuries, in order to save money. In other words, thousands of vets returning from Iraq and Afghanistan with multiple illnesses are being completely ignored, as are their conditions, so that the admin wont have to pay any compensation or pay for medical services. Obama was the originating source to correct that. And, hes not *on* the Senate Armed Services Committee. Hillary is though, and from what I gather here from your post, so is McCain.
I was totally amazed to hear them actually admit that Obama had voted *against* some of the consistent calls for more and more blank checks to fund the atrocity in Iraq. For over a year now, all of his detractors have consistently claimed that it DIDNT MATTER that he had so vigorously denounced the war on Iraq *before* it was launched, because 1) he was in the Congress at the time, and 2) because he had ALWAYS voted in *favor* of continued funding, (even though we know that isnt true). He did vote (one or twice) in favor of these multiple emergency funding bills, though I dont know off the top of my head which ones, or what the language of those bills were.
As for Afghanistan, pretty much ALL of us know that the Dick Bush Admin (and most of the rest of Congress) OUTSOURCED that entire operation within 6 weeks of the troops arrival there, and has since paid Pakistan a minimum of $22 billion tax payer dollars to handle it instead. A comparison of Afghanistan then, and Afghanistan now, would provide some pretty clear testimony to the fact that Pakistan hasnt done a very good job, and that we might be due some change on our $22 billion.
So many short memories out there, eh? Is it this rise in Attention Deficit Disorder or what?

Today’s news item: Doctors excised a small mole from McCain’s head. Good God. That may have been his brain.

If the McCain camp had paid any actual attention as to why this visit did not take place, they would have kept their mouths shut in the first place. It was all over the news as to why this visit was canceled. It was the Pentagons doing. Only notifying the Obama campaign the day before the visit was to take place, which the Pentagon put stop to the visit for so-called security reasons. John McShame got it wrong AGAIN!

Senator Obama quite properly decides not to use out wounded troops as a McCain-esque backdrop, and that shows he doesn’t care?
The Pentagon says he could have gone in his Senatorial capacity—two days after the Senate staffers went home and the Obama Campaign started picking up the tab for the rest of the trip. So the two campaign people, both veterans, weren’t allowed in because it made it “political”, but that was Obama’s decision to follow the rules?
McCain always travels with his Congressional drinking buddies (and takes over the club and/or VIP quarters) so the Congressional Travel Fund can pick up the tab (which is usually passed on to DoD), and he’s the G.I.‘s buddy?
Obama was a strong supporter of the new G.I. Bill that McCain voted against (and now takes credit for), so he hates the G.I.?
McCain hasn’t attended any Armed Services Committee meeting with so much as the word “Afghanistan” in the agenda for two years, and he cares?
Obama, according to the press schedule, was never taking photographers or press into Landstuhl in the first place, but he’s just publicity-seeking?
McCain’s VIP dog-and-pony-show visits are nothing above photo ops scattered between various other activities that range from fund raising in the ex-pat community to a staffer trying to get a Marine embassy guard court-martialed when the Marine told the staffer what to do with the suggestion that he (the Marine) should hook the guys up with some companionship. But he’s the best friend the G.I. has had since L. Mendel Rivers?
At what point does this all get to the point where it overrides Obama’s skin color, youth, intelligence or the rest of the reasons large numbers of white folks will believe any kind of twaddle? Or are the American voters just so happy with what they had under Bush II that they want more of the same for another 4 years?
