When did Obama make such a reference dihey? And, even if he did, it has exactly WHAT to do with this?

Humm, I’d be willing to bet that Obama has NOT made sure a ‘reference’ and that you simply plucked it out of thin air, to blame him for something that you think he should be saying.

Obama’s reference to his two daughters being hit by a (Palestinian) rocket without mentioning the numerous deaths and injuries to children caused by Israel’s bombing in Lebanon and Gaza is obscene.

Outraged, I know it’s hard to get the humor. Took me a really long time. And, I can only take it in really small doses.

That said, I think Fadel hit it on the nose. One of my very favorite Jewish professors, (I have a lot of Jewish professors) said it like this:

“Put six Jews in a room and you’ll get nine and a half opinions.”

Thing is, it’s true. Still, you’ve gotta get in the rhythm of it to appreciate it. From an observation standpoint, it really is comical. Then again, like I said..in small doses.

Now, I’m far more familiar with the family re-union scenario that you described. (large families on both sides). They start out (sometimes) civilized enough. But, let there be no liquor, or the shit really gets ridiculous. The last one I attended, (nearly 2 decades ago) of a California branch, (maternal side) wound up with my then 78 year old uncle breaking the arm of his 75 year old brother, with me ready to drive them both to the cemetery to fight over who was gonna be where in the ground.

They never did come to any agreement, so we decided for them, after the fact. Everything is really peaceful now.

Seriously, I don’t get it.

Is this “kinda” like going home for the ol’ family reunion, if you take it with a grain of salt, it’s entertaining.  Of course, really… you care about those who are your own, and so the conundrum presents itself.  What cha gonna do....?  I say, enjoy the portion of life that you can.  The simple reality that things are totally fucked up doesn’t have to enter in to a simple reunion of your own....right?

So what if “uncle joe” is an idiot.  Oh..sure, I know he “drinks too much” but ya know if you catch him on the “right” day, he’s a good guy....and well I know cousin so-n-so says that shit, but “everyone knows” she’s like that...what’s the problem?  We’re all just here to “enjoy” each other’s company.  Just “make the best of it”.  No, everyone is saying that but it’s not “really” true.  Did you hear so n’ so had a gallstone, really bad, almost morbid.  And you know how much I LOVE so n’ so but her philandering is really out there.  I don’t want to talk bad but my GOD, this is what I “happen” to know.

She DOES have a beautiful garden but you know, I just can help but wonder if that’s why ol’ joe drinks like that… God willing, things will improve.  I’ll pray for you...(thanks man, but I could really use a grand to pay the bills).  You know how much we all like so n’ so but did you “KNOW”..... Yeah..I lost my job...like you..ya know...I mean like I tried to come in but other shit happened...and then Joe’s girlfriend took his twenty bucks...that b*tch, I mean really who does she think she is…

Anyway, I just wanted to say, I don’t get it....I mean...well can someone explain this..?  I’ve never seen anything like this in my life.....I mean are THESE PEOPLE odd, or what…

Hilarious indeed! Like their Arab “cousins,” bring few Jews together, and they are likely to have a fight over their personal politics. But amazing how fast they can unite when they are prompted about their security-insecurity as a distinct religious-ethnic group.
