Karl Rove had been subpoenaed to testify Thursday before the House Judiciary Committee about the partisan politics that allegedly played a role in the U.S. attorney firing scandals that shook up the Justice Department during Rove’s time as a key White House adviser. However, he didn’t show, leaving Rep. Chris Cannon, R-Utah, with the fun job of explaining his absence to an irked Rep. Linda Sanchez. Whoops!

Obama has a compromise.Rove gets to ask himself questions and the comittee is allowed to take notes in invisible ink. Afterwards Rove is given the Congressional Medal of honor.Obama has done it again.The King Of the Compromise has saved the day.One question. Metaphorically speaking are Democrats balls removed the day they get elected to Congress.

Congress has the resources to know where Rove is, when he is returning and have US Marshalls waiting to take him into custody when he steps off the plane.
But the thought of Karl coolin his heels abroad until Jan. 20, 2008, is rather pleasant.

That’s easily resolved.

Extradict the little turdblossom, and hold him in maximum security until his trial for contempt of Congress. Surely, there is a place for one rotund weasel in Guantanamo. If not, extraordinarily render the little prick until his trial date for contempt of Congress. I heard from the the ReThugniCons that torture gets a lot out of these wretches. Test that theory pretrial on Rover. By his trial date, we should have confessions for the Lincoln assasination documented into the record with more than enough ammo for nabbing the whole of Administration43.

That is the link to this bill before I delete it accidently. I will paste the definitions and findings to tweak anyone’s interest about this piece of garbage.
AND, this is exactly why the 2nd amendment was put in the Bill of Rights.

`SEC. 899A. DEFINITIONS.

`For purposes of this subtitle:

`(1) COMMISSION- The term `Commission’ means the National Commission on the Prevention of Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism established under section 899C.

`(2) VIOLENT RADICALIZATION- The term `violent radicalization’ means the process of adopting or promoting an extremist belief system for the purpose of facilitating ideologically based violence to advance political, religious, or social change.

`(3) HOMEGROWN TERRORISM- The term `homegrown terrorism’ means the use, planned use, or threatened use, of force or violence by a group or individual born, raised, or based and operating primarily within the United States or any possession of the United States to intimidate or coerce the United States government, the civilian population of the United States, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.

`(4) IDEOLOGICALLY BASED VIOLENCE- The term `ideologicallybased violence’ means the use, planned use, or threatened use of force or violence by a group or individual to promote the group or individual’s political, religious, or social beliefs.


`SEC. 899B. FINDINGS.

`The Congress finds the following:

`(1) The development and implementation of methods and processes that can be utilized to prevent violent radicalization, homegrown terrorism, and ideologically based violence in the United States is critical to combating domestic terrorism.

`(2) The promotion of violent radicalization, homegrown terrorism, and ideologically based violence exists in the United States and poses a threat to homeland security.

`(3) The Internet has aided in facilitating violent radicalization, ideologically based violence, and the homegrown terrorism process in the United States by providing access to broad and constant streams of terrorist-related propaganda to United States citizens.

`(4) While the United States must continue its vigilant efforts to combat international terrorism, it must also strengthen efforts to combat the threat posed by homegrown terrorists based and operating within the United States.

`(5) Understanding the motivational factors that lead to violent radicalization, homegrown terrorism, and ideologically based violence is a vital step toward eradicating these threats in the United States.

`(6) Preventing the potential rise of self radicalized, unaffiliated terrorists domestically cannot be easily accomplished solely through traditional Federal intelligence or law enforcement efforts, and can benefit from the incorporation of State and local efforts.

`(7) Individuals prone to violent radicalization, homegrown terrorism, and ideologically based violence span all races, ethnicities, and religious beliefs, and individuals should not be targeted based solely on race, ethnicity, or religion.

`(8) Any measure taken to prevent violent radicalization, homegrown terrorism, and ideologically based violence and homegrown terrorism in the United States should not violate the constitutional rights, civil rights, or civil liberties of United States citizens or lawful permanent residents.

`(9) Certain governments, including the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia have significant experience with homegrown terrorism and the United States can benefit from lessons learned by those nations.

You’re right, this piece of legislation is nothing but bad news for the citizens and an excuse to go after anyone who a government offical deems a homegrown terrorist, but it appears the language is cast to protect the current stripping of the constitution that has already occurred. It also smacks of our elected ‘elites’ starting to get scared of repercussions for their criminality and especially to negate Thomas Jefferson’s statement in the Declaration of Independence where is says:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.—That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed,—That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.—Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government. The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.

That is from our National Archives and I don’t think that there is any ambiguity as to what it means. This is why H.R. 1955 is being processed and here is the full text,sort of as it is rather long it was passed in the house on Oct. 23, 2007 and was sent to the senate. It also doesn’t leave any ambiguity as to its intentions:

In the near, very near future, in place of a democratic republic, we will have a totalitarian, authoritarian regime, headed by none other than King George II.  Yes, the shrub, has been planning this all along and will not give up power to any other person, be it one of his own party or a member of the opposition.
The Neo-Cons, have constructed a plan, which by the end of October of 2008, will cause the overthrow of the Constitution and Bill of Rights, and replace them with HR 1955 and other bills already on the floor of the House and Senate which will give ultimate power and authority to the President and the Armed Forces of the U.S. despite the Posse Comitatus law. We are the last generation to see the results of the Founding Fathers work and deaths for the Liberty and Freedom that they held so dearly.
America, as you knew it will no longer exist, it will become Amerikkka!  A, nation of repressive and regressive rules and regulations that choke off dissent with the governmental policies that we the electorate disagree with. No longer will there be a voice in the wilderness crying out for freedom, but this country will become a beacon of oppression, that will shine throughout the world, setting the example for all other nations to follow.
We, the American people have so little time left to enjoy the precious freedoms that have been bought with the blood of so many. These brave men and women, the ones who gave their lives, so that others may enjoy the fruits of the sacrifice.
This is not some pipe dream, conspiracy, thought up by someone who has nothing to back up these assertions.  Please look up in the Congressional Record, HR 1955, and you will see the death of the Republic in one fell swoop. There will be no more Bill of Rights to fall back upon, the idea of a person seeking redress for a wrong done to him/her by the government, will no longer exist under the shrub’s regime. He truly means to become President for life, patterned much like the authoritarian regimes of the South American continent.
But in comparison, these regimes will look like boy scout camps. Amerikkka, will be oppressive and repressive beyond the pale and we the American people will no longer have a voice in the running of our country.
Do not take this lightly, this has been planned since the second coronation, and the plans have now come to fruition, just as the leading members of the Neo-Conservative movement wanted them to.
Repression is just around the corner and there is nothing the American people can do about it. Just remember that all of the things you hold dear are gone and vanished, but if a remnant exists, that will stand up for the truth, then, maybe we will win back our government, and set right what the Neo-conservatives have destroyed through subterfuge and deception.
Give peace a chance. Long live the Republic.

The LAWS are only as good as the people enforcing them[that would be us] AND WE ARE NOT HOLDING THESE IDIOTS ACCOUNTABLE.We have no one to BLAME but OUR OWN SELVES-Maybe IF WE PUT A COUPLE OF THESE ASSHOLES WHERE THEY BELONG[in prison for LIFE or in the case of “bullsh*t”-before a FIRING SQUAD]...THE REST of these idiots who are HIRED[voted] to be our spokespeople WILL REALIZE HOW SICK AND TIRED THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE OF WAKING UP SICK AND TIRED!!!FEAR OF REPRISAL FOR NOT DOING A GOOD JOB COULD BE A REAL DETERRENT!!!!!

Seems that Karl Rove et al need not worry about anything. The executive branch is a stone wall of resistance. Anyone else subverting a congressional subpoena would be handcuffed and brought forthwith before the inquiry. The Rove caper proves beyond a shadow of a doubt which branch rules and congressional subpoenas are confetti paper waste.

Well, Mr. cocksure Cannon looks like he should spend some jail time for his favorite boy. That would make a few people wake up and think about making excuses for a criminal.
And I agree with some of the other commenters, this should be pursued until he is picked up or voluntarily comes in to testify. Don’t charge him until after whenever the safe date passes so w cannot pardon him for something is is not charged for, if that would work.
Of course it will be difficult as kkkrove is surely sitting in his offshore home near his offshore money wanting for his fuck buddies to offshore themselves so they can pick up where the left off.

I knew he would pull this. Gitmo is a good idea, forget the trial, leave him there indefinitely, no charges, to attorney privileges, just like the other prisoners in Gitmo. Torture on an hourly basis 24/7 and that’s to good for him. Maybe send him to Egypt where we sent some of the prisoners for torture to loosen their tongues, as Egyptians are known for their torture. That;s why the Bush government uses them.

I doubt anything will come of this, just like all the other law breaking Bush Bunch, and lest we forget that while going after Gonzo,or was it something about Mukasey not upholding the law, the steroid ball player took priority. It’s time to hold these people accountable for the crimes they partook in and no more pardoning allowed for these criminals. Bush/Cheney included. The only hope I can see is if the world court takes the reins over the war crimes of this administration

I don’t have a clue to what you’re talking about. Are you talking about Jesse Jackson? I didn’t hear him ‘slam’ me, so I guess that’s why I’ve been quiet. I don’t really follow Jesse Jackson, or what he says or does. I USED to pay more attention back in the day. But, that was years ago, when he was active in the civil rights movement. Really…DECADES ago.

Now I did read the brief article and watch that two second tape of him saying that he wanted to do something to Obama’s nuts. Is that what you’re talking about? But, what would that have to do with me?

And, what does that have to do with Karl Rove being in contempt of Congress? Maybe I need some rest. This is starting to sound like beyond the twighlight zone.

Or, maybe just the standard race baiting. Some folks just wouldn’t be able to exist without racism, eh?

Next, Chertoff, Perle, and those others in the special plans office need to be called in to account on fabricating false evidence.

Wait till after Jan 20. when Bush will be unable to save himself.

When some refuse to play by the rules, the rules have to be enforced or they are meaningless.  Rove and the Bush cabal haven’t been playing by the rules for a number of years now, and as of yet no one is really enforcing, lots of lip service but no practical action.  I guess they really can make the rules up as they go along.  Until the gutless wonders in congress actually have the backbone to enforce the rules, we are living in a dictatorship.  Cut and dry plain and simple, the dictators have taken over and operated under the rules they made.  Congress (with a few exceptions, thanks Dennis!) have been complicit in this bloodless coup.  Unless congress takes back the reins it will continue to be a dictatorship no matter who gets elected.  Presidential administrations have to be as accountable to the rule of law as the rest of us.  If we as a people don’t punish them for their crimes, we have created an elected dictatorship.  How long will it be before those now placed above the law decide to change that elected part?  The way things have been going, I am starting to doubt even that would be challenged.

I belive Mr. Rove has now met all the criteria for such an interrogation procedure.

Maybe I’m wrong about this, but as I understand it, if I were to ignore a subpoena it would take all of about 30 seconds for a judge to have me arrested and jailed. Even if I forgot, Even if I was out of town,in the hospital,working,sleeping,didn’t care,didn’t have anything to say,ect.. There would be a consequence for my action. So why on earth can this guy get away with this kind of behavior when the rest of us can not? I think the entire bunch needs to be in jail, there isn’t one person in the current administration that hasn’t lied, cheated, or misinformed us. Subpoenas for everyone !!!!

Why not? It has been deemed ‘appropriate and humane’ by his former bosses:
TO EXTRACT INFORMATION FROM UNWILLING OR UNCOOPERATIVE ‘PERSONS OF INTEREST.’

And…I’m with you both. (outraged and inherit the wind).

Good thinking Inherit, on dragging this out just long enough beyond January 20th. Shouldn’t be a problem at all. .

Thing is…Rove will probably stay away until then, or forever. I honestly thought he’d have ditched long ago. He is one nervy turd. Hung in there until the law was directly on his ass..and this isn’t even the first time he’s ditched subpoenas. But, this was certainly a ‘closing in’ on him…enough to scare his ass out of dodge.

So, they should certainly begin with a Contempt of Congress charge, (at least until he can be captured) and then they can just hold him as an enemy combatant at Gitmo in the orange jumpsuit, until after Jan. 20th. Then he can have a nice legal trial and conviction, with no chance of a pardon.

Sounds good.

This is par for the course for the right-wing whiners.  They dish it out but they certainly don’t think THEY should be included in that “ball of wax”.  I’m with ITW its orange jumpsuit time for Rove and his “compatriots”.  Preplanned extended vacation….. yeah, I’ll bet, till WHEN..?  HIS NEXT LIFE!

Remember folks, just tell the judge, “Sure man, I’ll catch ya on the flip-side…in my next life”.  I’m confident this will go over BIG, ...sure it will…trust me.
