Cann4ing,
Report thisI was not referring to TD as pro-military but this particular website, intheirboots.com. Most if not all of the veterans and their famillies featured here are still highly supportive of the military and the war effort.

troublesum: What you complain about is hardly limited to Truthdig and hardly new. In the “Power Elite” (1956) C. Wright Mills wrote: “It is not only within the higher political and economic, scientific and educational circles that the military ascendancy is apparent. The warlords, along with fellow travelers and spokesmen, are attempting to plant their metaphysics firmly among the population at large.” Mills went on to note, “American militarism in fully developed form, would mean the triumph in all areas of life of the military metaphysic, and hence, the subordination to it of all other ways of life.”
The degree to which this has occurred was reflected by the exclusion of Dennis Kucinich from a Jan. 2008 MSNBC debate. Tim Russert asked the three invited candidates (Obama/Clinton/Edwards): “Will you vigorously enforce a statute which says colleges must allow military recruiters on campus and provide ROTC programs?” All three, without hesitation, answered “yes.”
The next day, Kucinich appeared on Democracy Now! Amy Goodman posed the exact same question to which Kucinich replied: “Absolutely not! Our society is being militarized. And part of the problem is NBC, which is a partner defense contractor through the ownership of General Electric of both NBC and Raytheon. So NBC is really promoting war here.” Kucinich went on to say, “We need to reorient our society. These kinds of questions really are intent on continuing the militarization of our society….”

This a pro-military website. After viewing some of the videos I would say that the attitude here seems to be, “It’s wonderful to live in a country that allows so many of its young people the oportunity to become paraplegics.” One of the sponsors is the VFW which has an ad on the site which says that all of the wars we have been involved in have been fought for the right reasons and that each generation must be prepared to fight its wars.

Why have we allowed Bush to do this for 7 1/2 years?
Report thisPeople will never ask again, “Why did the German people go along with Hitler?”

Too bad shorts like this do not appear on national TV. How many of our young men and women have returned from Bush’s war of choice maimed and disabled, both mentally and physically.
I represent an individual who was severely disabled, both mentally and physically in a 1988 work-related accident. He requires around the clock attendant care, numerous physicians and most importantly, an aging mother acting as his conservator who has to make all decisions, both medical and day-to-day, on his behalf as he is incapable of doing so himself.
The last remark in this short piece presents the classic mother’s nightmare. “What’s going to happen to Allen when something happens to me.”
You did this, George Bush!
