The Changing Face of Joe LiebermanPosted on Jun 25, 2008
Ever since he received President Bush’s official smooch of approval, Sen. Joe Lieberman has moved much more aggressively to the right, putting some of the more hawkish types from his new crowd to shame with his saber-rattling rhetoric about Iran. Here, the Brave New Films team charts Lieberman’s nearly complete transformation in recent years. Watch the clip:

Lieberman would be the perfect compliment to McCain. McCain is in the early stages of Alzheimers and Lieberman is schizophrenic (or is it the other way around?). After 8 years of mental imbalance from BushII we’ll hardly be able to tell any difference at all should the American derelictorate once again favor us with their infinite wisdom.

Whats the point: The game goes on; the dance goes on.
If not Leiberman then some other whore of a used car salesman will take his play. Politics is the art of conning the people into thinking they have a say in matters of state. Yet all that happens is we vote in another white collar criminal.
And all the big corporations (rich people) eat the poor, both American and non-American.)

If he could really change faces it would be a great improvment. I flee everytime he appears on TV or in one of those dreary photos smiling his obsequious smile while gazing at McCain.
Report thisHe just wants to to number 2 - for sure he could never be anything else.

Lieberman is a hawk on defense out of political expediency. The new-generation deep-water submarine, which he has vehemently endorsed, is made by General Dynamics Boat Division in Connecticut, his home state. Supporters claim the sub, which costs $2.5 BILLION a copy, is needed to oppose China’s growing military threat. It seems to me the big threat from China is economic and environmental.

In the movie “Charlie Wilson’s war” Tom Hanks touches on the jewish vote in America. Even thought he claimed only 7 jewish Americans in his district, it was others around the country who sent money to his reelection campaign in an orchastated effort.
Serious campaign finance reform would defang alot of special interests and get our politicians out of those pockets.

He’s playing both sides of the aisle. Without a larger majority the Dems still need him (or at least they say they do). As far as being owned by AIPAC - truer words were never spoken but then again how many U.S. politicians aren’t owned by AIPAC? The bowing and scraping we saw from Clinton, Obama, and McCain at AIPAC shortly after the Democratic primaries were over was so exagerrated as to be both painful and embarrassing. Someday AIPAC’s power will wain but I wonder if I will see it during my lifetime.
At this point Obama doesn’t appear to offer anything different - his pandering to Israel and agreement on the FISA bill suggest he is wiling to sell out for political gain. Some call him and others like Nancy Pelosi pragmatists...however it is important to point out that pragmatism is not without its problems. Pragmatism basically asserts that whatever works “best” or provides the “best” outcome defines what is good and true. The problem with this philosophical view is that what “works best” or “is the best outcome” is a subjective judgment that is shaped by one’s values. In this case caving into AIPAC, throwing out the constitution for political expediency (e.g. impeachment is off the table, wiretapping immunity etc) are the “practical” values displayed by the Dems for the greater “good” of working across the aisle, working with Bush, and of course the 2008 election.
But my ideas about what is pragmatic - “the best outcomes” are quite different. For me the “greatest good” would be to see Geogre Bush impeached and criminally prosecuted for his crimes against humanity and other illegal activities in the United States and abroad(wiretapping, torture, gitmo, money laudering in Iraq etc). This would represent a sea change in Washington politics making people like Liebermann obsolete.
For, now, anyway, the “pragmatism” of the Dems seems to be doing nothing more than perpetuate the status-quo of Bush politics - when will it end?
Not until U.S. voters become better informed about international/foreign policy issues (like the historical, social, cultural, and political contexts that shape foreing policy matters), corporate greed, voting rights violations, etc… and become less interested in the inanity of lapel pins, who says the pledge of allegience in particular bodily configurations, Rev Wright, etc. Also important, U.S. voters need recognize fear mongering for what it is and refuse to be frightened into voting for hawks who do nothing but make things worse for the entire world - such is American empire.

Lieberman is one of many Congressmen, all intensely loyal to Israel, who place the interests of Israel above all others. McCain and Osbama are no different in that respect than the present neocon Admin. AIPAC has them all in its’ control.

How come the MSM keeps calling Lieberman an Independent. Why do they accept such a blatant lie? Just because he says so? Apart from being a complete hypocrite and liar, Mr. Lieberman is more Republican than any GOP member at present in House and Senate.

Sen. Changeling wants WAR on just about everybody. Hmmm, how many of Sen. Changeling’s children are serving in the U.S. military? I’m willing to bet that’d be about none. Yeah, just about none of the children of privilege are serving the U.S. military. Especially the “special” children of privilege belonging to members of the U.S. Congress. Sen. Jim Webb is exempt from further criticism of Congress. Let’s see we have Chelsea Clinton, all of the ‘condiment’ children and that would be the Heinz/Kerry clutch, the Reid kiddies, the Hatch-lings, the Grahams both regular and honey flavored, and of course for brevity one can and should fill in the blank. Yeah, Sen. Changeling likes that war crap-o-la. Doesn’t cost him anything but YOUR children.

The people of his state should start a recall and get rid of him. What a slime ball. He speaks with fork tongue. If the old man wants to go to war than Liberman and McFlipper should go at the head of the line. Old men love to start wars and want to send other peoples children. Yes just like an old man.

Liebermann is one of the main advocates for the new-generation deep-water submarine. He calims it’s necessary to oppose the growing naval threat from China. Coincidentally, the submarine, which goes for $2.5 BILLION a piece, will be made by General Dynamics in Connecticut, Liebermann’s home state. Read all the details in Robert Scheer’s The Pornography of Power. There’s also interesting info about Barbara Don’t-Close-My-Bases Boxer, the Democrat from California.

The first time I saw and heard Joe Lieberman on the political scene, I felt like I have smelled phosphorous. It was something of a gut feeling (or a sixth sense, as I call this); something about his looks, his nasal voice, and his fake smile made me feel very uncomfortable. This is even before I knew anything about the man, his politics, religion, loyalties and ideological inclinations.
It’s almost surreal that what I felt years ago, as a gut feeling, turned out to be founded and justified as Joe Lieberman kept showing his true colors.
Guess what?! Though I, somehow, liked Al Gore when he ran for the presidency in 2000, it was because of my feelings about Joe Lieberman, as his running mate, that I did not vote for him and preferred, instead, to waste my vote by not using it! Since that election resulted in the gravest mistake in the history of America that brought Bush to power, I felt bad for several years afterwards about not voting for the Democratic ticket. However, since Lieberman been showing his true colors, that feeling of guilt has been removed.

Patrick Henry,
I received this in my mail today as well. I can’t send a check, (though I would if I could) but I did sign the petition and I’ve sent it on. Sometimes the best we can do is spread the word. It continues to amaze me how many people remain unaware of these things.
AND..every time more and more of this new LIEberman shows his colors, it causes me a moment of traumatic flash back. What would have happened if he and Al Gore HAD taken up their elected positions in 2001?
I mean, maybe this has been the real LIEberman all along. Could he have wound up as the Dick Cheney to Al Gore’s presidency?
This is why I don’t like to entertain ‘what ifs’ in an ‘after the fact’ mode of consideration. It’s enough to cause PTSD.

Sent to me today, think I’ll send them a check.
“Joe Lieberman is a war hawk, plain and simple. He staunchly supports George Bush’s War in Iraq and John McCain’s plan to stay in Iraq for 100 years. But Lieberman’s new alliance with the Republican Party runs even deeper. He has endorsed and stumped for McCain, wants to be the star of the Republican National Convention, and has even served on a 527 group that smeared Barack Obama with a nasty attack ad.
And yet Lieberman still holds a top rank within the Senate Democratic Caucus as chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. The Senate Democratic Steering Committee needs to know just how much of a conflict of interest this is. That’s why we created Lieberman Must Go.
Watch the video: http://bravenewfilms.org/watch/21374426/43061?utm_sour ce=rgemail
Here’s what you can do: Sign our petition today and tell the Senate Democratic Steering Committee to strip Lieberman of his leadership role in Congress. Then, e-mail this video to everyone you know and spread it on sites like Digg and elsewhere.
Recently in Talking Points Memo, Josh Marshall suggested that the best way to limit Lieberman is by encouraging the Steering Committee to render him powerless in 2009. Lieberman must go, and you can make that happen by donating to Brave New Films today”.
