O’Reilly Agitated Over Gay-Seeming Mayo Ad

O'Reilly mayonnaise panel
queerty.com

Bill O’Reilly is just beside himself about a new, ultra-confusing British advertisement for Heinz mayonnaise. He’s so troubled, in fact, by the sight of two men kissing (!) for no apparent reason (?!), that he enlists the aid of two other talking heads, Jane Hall and Bernard Goldberg, who are also willing to pretend this matter deserves airtime and extended commentary. O’Reilly is nearly enraged by Hall’s suggestion that the ad is about good-natured “gender-blending,” but Goldberg calms him down by sagely offering that what the commercial is truly about is “not a gay issue—it’s a mayonnaise issue.”

And now from not-so-enlightened-after-all Britain:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2008/jun/24/asa.advertising

Heinz are even more cowardly for pulling the ad. Caving into 200 Flanders, who would prefer to pick up a phone to complain, rather than have to talk to their children. Cretins.

Oh that’s too bad… I loved mayonnaise (can’t spell it, though). Now I have to stop eating it - it might make me gay!

Well, it was pretty gay.  Can’t disagree with Bill O’Reilly there.  Moreover, it’s a gay household with kids. Of course, who really cares?  Gay dudes eat Mayo just like Bill O. Also, I imagine Bill O is a fan of the “patriarchal arrangement” as some like to call it.  Now you can have two patriarchs!  He should be twice as pleased!  Sigh… - TheEnd

That’s a funny ad—love the de Niro deli man. “You gonna friggin’ kiss me, or what?”

Bill O’Reilly is a bottom-feeder. I mean, poo-eater.

Bill O’Reilly is full of beans-a lot of it.In addition to being arrogant and a fraud,he is also
shallow and ignorant of other cultures:

Italian men friends kiss each other as they meet after not seeing each other for a while. So do Russian
men friends,so do Arab men friends.Only perverted mind would make an issue out of such cultural diversities and waste valuable air time on such useless and non-issue,at all.

Isn’t it ironic that the mind of a pervert can never get past sex.
The depth just is not there.

“His real motivation ... keep HIS numbers up. I suspect he doesn’t give a darn about any of this.”

Perfectly stated Louise - mock outrage about a TV advert that his viewers wont see, except during his show. Would not one of his lackeys have taken the 5 seconds to explain the commercial to him beforehand - possibly an extra ten to teach him the correlation between advertising innovation and profit?

If his pandering homophobia is triggered by something as innocuous as this Heinz ad, imagine the fake apoplexy Billo would have aroused in election season 2004 with an agenda to which to attach it?

O’Reilly probably doesn’t get Monty Python either.  Men dressing up as women, must be a gay thing.

“.. Will the USA ever be anything other than the puritanical backwoods of the civilized world?”

Well David, probably not. BUT..you all started it! wink

We were fine before the settlers came over and brought the puritans, and the Christians, and all of those others from the King’s England. (whether they were forced out or left voluntarily).

So don’t blame it on the few real Americans left. (after the initial slaughter and massive theft of our land and space). It started ‘over there’.

What do you expect?  After all, this is the “guy” who maintained that a woman’s life could never be endangered by a pregnancy.

“South Dakota, as you know, has voted to outlaw abortions unless the mother’s life is in danger, which is never the case, because you can always have a C-section and do those kinds of things.” Bill O’Reilly-10/11/06

brilliant…

I overheard a group of young girls in the line ahead of me, [I would guess them to have been twelve - thirteen] talking about a funny thing on Sponge Bob, when one girl said, “I’m not aloud to watch Sponge Bob.” When the question ‘why’ came back, she didn’t seem to know. Then their conversation moved to Brats, and another girl said, “I’m not aloud to play with Brats.” She didn’t know why either, but added, “Mom says I can have one when I’m eighteen.”

I suspect those two young girls will wait up for Santa Clause the first Christmas after they’re married.

What the folks who believe in censorship don’t realize is their various fixations actually are a reflection of their dirty minds. Their prevailing idiocy being a direct order from someone they’ve given permission to do their thinking for them, like someone decided for some stupid reason Patrick is gay ... when he is after all actually just a cartoon drawing, and Brats are “sexual” when in fact they are just more fun to play with than Barbie’s, easier to dress up ...

Anyway, I would have liked to ask these young ladies what they thought of the GWOT, but they left and it was my turn at checkout. Besides I would have had to explain GWOT first, and there was a long line behind me.

I didn’t have to ask them what they thought of Bush. Ask any kid in my neck of the woods what they think of Bush and the answer ALWAYS comes back, “Bush is an idiot!” Their opinion has not been formed from long hours of study, or school, or watching him or mainstreammedia. They are repeating something they are hearing at home!

Point being, when people hurt, they blame the obvious. When people are looking for a non-issue, issue to influence small minds, reaching into what some perceive as “sin” always works. Ergo, O’Reilly the champion of small minds does the obvious.

But the fact that this particular non-issue, issue was the focus of this particular segment say’s much more. The so-called ‘conservative’ party patsies are up against a growing tide of awareness. Bush is a liar. Bush’s administration is a pack of liars. The war is a lie. The economy is the result of practiced lies. All the lies are coming home to roost.

And while some still don’t get it, a lot are beginning to get it, so people like O’Reilly are desperately trying to change the subject. His real motivation ... keep HIS numbers up. I suspect he doesn’t give a darn about any of this. And I’ll bet in off camera moments he’s been heard to say, Bush is an idiot!

Bill O’Reilly is the most obtuse person I have ever seen.  He rants about two men kissing, when there is a more atrocious and immoral thing happening. It’s called the “war on terrorism.”  This is absolutely one of the best commercials I have seen in quite some time, funny and satirical at the same time.  Get over yourself Bill.  Nothing you have to say is of any import and until you recognize the immoral and illegal presidency of the shrub, I will be certain not to listen to anything you have to say.

Come on Bill, you know you get plenty of mayonnaise from Rupert.

It is obvious to anyone but a humorless hack like O’Reilly that the joke is the NY Deli guy substituting for “mom” in the kitchen. The kiss was just the joke’s payoff. Yeesh. Damn, I miss living in England!

Will the USA ever be anything other than the puritanical backwoods of the civilized world?

I think the brits are smarter - this was about , if you understood it , about deli taste at home. Heck as a lesbian I saw that ....  I admit the kiss is a cute touch , but innocent.

see it as gay ? ok. but to be bent out of shape about it ??? why is it usually the really ugly guys that girls don’t want that are the most homophobic ? trust me you slobs .... gay men don’t want you so you have nothing to worry about.

and even if it was gay ? get over it already. your insecurity is getting boring and sounding whiny.

Actually, I think the title quotes O’Reilly as ‘highly agitated’ rather than ‘nearly enraged’ but I suppose that’s close enough.

Thing is, it’s very typical of O’Reilly, (because he DOES focus on bullshit..it’s who he is) and unfortunately, his mentality is shared by many others, INCLUDING readers of Truthdig.

So, this might ‘not’ be such a good idea as a space filler. (maybe it would incite more insanity?) On the other hand, maybe it will help the less fortunate among us, to realize how totally stupid and irrelevant O’Reilly is, and consider the damage that it does to the social psychology of the collective, when so many are in fact so afflicted.

As much as we may despise him, I would hardly describe him as nearly enraged about this. I’m sure there are much more news worthy Bill O’Reilly clips than this, and just like the O’Reilly show, Truth Dig seems to be filling space with this story. Slow news day all round.
