Gravel

The former senator from Alaska who read the Pentagon Papers into the congressional record in 1971 tells a small group after his failed bids for the 2008 Democratic and Libertarian nominations: “This is the end of my political career.” But don’t worry about Mike Gravel. He certainly doesn’t: “What’s the worst thing that’s happened to me? I go back to a normal life? At my age? This is terrible?”

Related: Truthdig interviewed Gravel more than a year ago when he first launched his campaign for the Democratic nomination.

Thanks for doing what you did Mike. You set a great example.

Mike is the only one I would have voted for. He said what he believed in and not just what the voters wanted to hear. What has happened to this country that people don’t want to be told the truth? What a shame, may he live to fight another day.

It’s sad that Gravel didn’t get the attention he deserved. He was the only democratic candidate with actual solutions to problems. I hope that one day the political focus will be on solutions, not the reiteration of problems.

Also missed is Sen Dodd who filibustered the Telcom wiretap immunity bill. He dropped out of the race within a few weeks of this very courageous act. Quite disappointing.

Mike Gravel attacked the Military Complex and the MM avoided him with gusto.  Let’s face it he makes more sense than what we have left to chose from, mostly on his anti war program.  Some of his ideas were not perfect, but way ahead of what we will have when the dust settles.

Good life Mike Gravel, live happy.

Mike, hang loose, hang in, everybody still needs you.  Hey, get that fine daughter to tell everyone about the growing gang of famous people with you at Patriotsquestion9/11, besides witnesses and howling bereaved, dodged by everybody right now on normal television.  We have to stomp in that normal goddamned good-German TV, you do understand.

Tyler

When making contributions to campaigns, charity, or unknowns, it is always better to bite the bullet and pay for a “money order”

I have a seperate checking account which I use for political contributions, It is a free “escrow” account which is empty except when used for specific drafts.  This (if you live in a State which permits these types of accounts) is another more secure method.

If the ‘Dems’ handed Hillary the Nomination he was on My short list of those I would vote for- I voted for Dennis in the MI Primary - which was very likely counted a a vote for Hillary ( Kucinich in top spot, fed into a preprogrammed SCAMtron- which would expect the candidates to be listed in alphabetical order- of Course!)
So Now if they nomintion is Stolen, I will most likely vote for Ron Paul, unless Of course Obama finds another way to be on the Ballots. But if he is forced to Put that Neo CON in Blue on his Ticket, I will not vote fro him either.
This weekends DNC meeting should bare in mind the ONLY DLC’er who ever truely ‘Sealed the Deal’ with REAL Dems was Clinton- None since- we can smell the Corp stench oozing from their Pores, Hillary REEKS like an old dirty Whore!

Wow…thanks for telling us about these recurrent donations Tyler. I’ve had the same thing happen, though not with campaign contributions.

I’m glad you don’t blame Mr. Gravel personally. But still, somebody in his campaign is responsible. This is a crummy thing to have happen, even though there are various scams out there who practice it frequently.

Meantime, I’m sorry he’s had to throw in the towel. I’d have voted for him way ahead of Hillary.

I made an one-time early donation to the Gravel campaign. Somehow, my donation trebled in amount and became recurring. I was getting hit every month. No problem. I didn’t believe that Gravel could be elected but I believed in his message. Later, when I tried to withdraw my support for money reasons (I am poor by most measures) I found I could not. My repeated requests were ignored. Finally, I had to have my bank step in. They did, recovering two months of payments. And then the Gravel people came back for more, charging my account again despite my best efforts. Well, I got that back too, but the whole experience left me rather disappointed and gun-shy about making any future political donations. I don’t blame Senator Gravel personally for this situation.
