Clinton Regrets ‘White Americans’ RemarkPosted on May 14, 2008
Hillary Clinton tells Wolf Blitzer that Rep. Charles Rangel was “probably right” about her recent comment to USA Today. Clinton had argued that white voters seemed to prefer her lately. Rangel called that statement “the dumbest thing.” Watch it here. Previous item: Colbert on McAuliffe's Mortal Mixup Next item: Edwards Shares the Love Elsewhere: . No ringing!
As in the tintinnabulation that so voluminously swells from the ringing and the dinging of the bells, as in that phone call at 2:00 in the morning.
That clarion call that echoes in the cavernous cranium. That endless maddening religiosity that slides into the cracks in democracy and out of the cracks of bells to call to the religiously inclined to be religiously inclined when they vote.
The lose screw dinging inside the empty shell.
The false fire alarm that rings out “October Surprise” October Surprise! Or the tinkling of a ships bell that’s lost it’s moorings and cry’s out, [not quite silent yet] “listen to me.” ME, HILLARY! I do know what I’m doing! I do, I do, I DO!
OK, you’re right, my spell-check forgot to read my mind again. Thanks for pointing that out.

Willard…
Amen! Well said, and efficiently too.
It IS time to move forward. That’s what these folks have to get.

I would consider voting Democratic if it was Obama/Rockefeller, or even Obama/Boxer (which might placate the outraged dykes)
Oops, did I say anything wrong? You mean that’s offensive? Oh Gee, sorry, I made a mistake.
Well, you let the business-shill get away with it…

But time to butter the other side of the bread anyway ... again.
Sticky business running for president.
First you have to pretend to have an unblemished record of service for all the people. Then you have to cozy up to the “right” money people. Then you have to shop around for rules to break, without looking like you break the rules. Then you have to fine-tune denigrating comments, careful to keep track of who you denigrated, so you can come back later and pretend you didn’t mean it.
All this requires a lot of hand washing [and ringing.] But that can’t slow you down, cause you have to always butter the other side of the bread, just in case you blow it and don’t win and need to crawl back and beg for a second place slot. Trying all the while to remember which side of the bread counts anyway, cause you’ve flipped and buttered so many times, you’ve lost track.
Enough to make a sane person crazy!
Helps to start out crazy ... maybe.
Yep, sticky business running for president.

Yes, Hillary regrets that remark, just in time for the WV primaries to be over. Isn’t it obvious that the remark was calculated, Reagan-style, racist innuendo to garner votes from WV’ians? Now that they’re done voting, she’s very sorry. After all, that might not play so well in Oregon.

Well, keeping with your grandma’s advice, I won’t assume or speculate about how Hillary came to make the controversial statements she has made. };>
I’ve always believed in forgiveness, even to people who make extreme transgressions. Hillary hasn’t really done anything other than make a series of faux pas. She’s finally crying mia culpa so absit verbia injuris.

I dunno Aegrus. It sort of seems to me like maybe her staff/supporters might not have worked all that steadfastedly on her behalf.
I mean, I don’t know that for sure, but it’s been suggested that at least part of the reasons she’s screwed up so badly, and so often, is because she was taking advice from these folks that she’s been paying.
On the other hand, it’s really hard to know how much is their fault, since I’m willing to bet that they probably didn’t suggest that she threaten to obliterate Iran, or suggest that her same party opponent might not be all that loyal to America, or that the candidate from the ‘other’ party was more qualified for the job than the candidate from her OWN party.
Now if they DID recommend that she say those things, and lie about being under fire in Bosnia, and she was stupid enough to follow such advice, I’m actually NOT likely to forget it. I mean, what’s she gonna do when the phone rings at 3:00am? Should we hope that it would be 2:59am instead, so that maybe she’d decide differently?
I’m just saying..all gaffes are not created equally. Hers have been lulus. I’ll agree that she did run hard, but there was enough of SOME kind of wind behind her ass, because she managed to bulldoze right over a whole bunch of folks. Fortunately for Obama, he’s skinny enough that he managed to miss fatal damage from those efforts. (skinny dudes are harder to target, and I know that from experience. My ex was so skinny he had to run around the shower to get wet) Still, she was packin’ some serious wind there for a while. It was just of such a foul odor, that it acted as a repellant.
Meantime, on a different note. One of the opinions of the former California Assembly Speaker and former Mayor of SFO, is that a large part of her problems resulted from her presumptuous belief that she was a given for the nomination. According to Willie Brown, HRC didnt plan her campaign beyond February, because she expected to be the nominee by then. So, thats why she ran out of money, (spent it all up at the beginning) and thats why shes had to give her own self money. Now, how smart is that?
My grandma told us we should never assume anything, without being very certain to identify it as an assumption as opposed to a certainty, based on empirical data. Now my Grandma wasnt all that educated, and she never held a job outside of home. Still, that has always struck me as very good advice. Too bad shes passed on now, because Hillary would have done better to pay HER for advice. (or me)

It was bad enough about the Iran obliteration comment, then denial of having said it. Hillary, make sure your brain is engaged before running your mouth. If you are as tired and sleep deprived as Bill claims you were when you made some of those statements, how do you think you will be ready to go on day one, let alone answer that 3 a.m. call you seem to be so sure will happen AT 3 A.M.?

Considering the groups you attract- I wouldn’t be patting yourself on the back- nor caliming you could win the general.Believe it or not (and disregarding the Medias ignorance) the majority of the country left Racism behind when the Neo CON Relgious Groups Glaringly showed US how repulsive andSelf defeating such ‘White Fear’ was. Those who Cling to such vile ideologies are not Majority of AmreicaNs any more.
Report thisYou campaign and your ideas may be better sutied for a Religious Extremist party or the KKK. You have proven your lack of electability in Soooo many ways- this one was just icing on the cake.Frankly I want You Kicked out of the Democratic party and the Senate.Your votes and actions (and InActions) have spoken volumes about WHO YOU REALLY ARE! You HAVE accomplished knocking the Rose colored glasses off this 2x Bill supporter, You needn’t crush them under you heels.

Some Credit!
To give credit where credit is due, I give Hillary the credit of having the courage to recognize that her earlier racial statement was offensive. However, she is not made of the stuff for a president or vice-president this country needs after eight years of national disaster under the neocons.
Obama-Edwards is the perfect ticket for president and vice-president.

I’m being honest. At this late part of the campaign, I don’t care about Hillary’s accidental slips of the tongue. I’m not about to throw her under the bus just because she doesn’t have a good strategy for winning the Democratic nomination. That’s the truth of the matter.

I lost all respect for hillary during this election contest. First was her “presumptive” status that had me concerned. Then her disdain that she was being challenged.
But she superceded all that when she started triangulating triangulations. For hillary its all about hillary. She has made far too many comments that are short term winners all in the expectation that the future will forget what she said because of some other news - either hers or otherwise.
Finally, bill has infuriated me. Its very clear that he would be entirely too influential for my taste in a hillary presidency.
Anyway enough of the 90’s time to move forward - hopefully to a more truthful administration than the two previous eight-year stints.

I forgive you Hillary. It is my personal belief you will continue to help Barack Obama into the GE. Everyone makes gaffes, you shouldn’t have to pay for yours any more than Obama.
Contrary to the belief of some people, I don’t think your reputation will be tarnished by this campaign. You ran hard, but the wind just wasn’t behind your wings.
Just do me a favor. On Thursday, find some money to do your payroll. Your supporters deserve at least that much for the incredibly steadfast work they’ve done on your behalf.
