Hillary Clinton Does Not Endorse This ‘SNL’ Sketch

Poehler as Clinton

Hillary Clinton also does not endorse this screen capture.

You just can’t catch a break as a politician these days. Right when you think you look all “hip” and “endearingly self-deprecating” by allowing yourself to be skewered by certain late-night comedians (bonus points if you’re actually on the show while this gentle, aide-approved gentle ribbing is happening), those same wise asses up and turn on you—as Amy Poehler did this weekend in her latest Hillary Clinton spoof on “Saturday Night Live.”

Where’s the “disarming” cackle?

Jeff, alas, that’s the real deal.

Bill actually endorses this sketch.

Ditto, Chelsea and Hill’s mom Dorothy.

Actually, anyone who has suffered the agony of being within 20 yards of Hillary in the past six months endorses this sketch, stunned at just how accurately art mirrors reality in this situation.

Sen. Clinton cannot see that her Democratic nomination is a lost cause because she is in the first stage of grief, i.e., DENIAL. Pity poor Bill Clinton and those around her when she gets to stage two, ANGER, it will not be a pretty sight.

I found the sketch funny and supportive of Hillary in that most of what she said sounded not like who she is, but who Obama supporters on this and many other blogs accuse her of being.

This same thing happened years ago, when President Gerald Ford’s press secretary, Ron Nessen, was the guest host on SNL. He hadn’t gone to any of the rehearsals, and hadn’t realized how thoroughly they were going to skewer his boss. He found out the hard way, after he was on the show, as it was in progress. For example, Gilda Radner as “Emily Letilla” doing a commentary on how there should be more Presidential statues being built. The title of her commentary: “Presidential Erections.”

Hilarious!  I heard people talking about it online as soon as it aired, glad to finally see it for myself.

Well, Hillary may not ‘endorse’ this. But I certainly do.

Factual Fiction Art!

Thank you Amy Poehler for impersonating Hillary in a piece of fiction that’s more factual than hard facts.

I really enjoyed it very much and thus nominate this piece for an award under a new artistic genre I suggest to be called “Factual Fiction.”
