The simple truth is this: The western nations are not as capable of competing as they once were, especially those from the U.S. The solution is to disrupt the games and spare them the embarrassment of humiliating defeat. It has nothing to do with Tibet and revolution. That’s just a gift from the CIA.

Now I get it. The U.S. athletes and their euro counterparts just aren’t up to the task, so they found a way via dubious Tibetan politics to get out of competing. Btter than being trounced.

The very concept of sports is honesty..a fair playing field..to hold an international sports affair in the worlds worst dictatorship..China is absurd and down right mean! The food ,unless cooked for party members is dangerous..the air is foul..the fowl is drenched in unsanitary perservatives..the toys are painted in lead for tiny tots to play with..mmmm deelicious! The olympic games were not held during ww2 because a more serious matter was going on..the war for independent thinking has been intensified to say the least..china…!!! The shadow of Hitler and Stalin will be seen lurking over the torch as it is placed onto the permanent stand..what a mockery..anyone in touch with the Cardinal Kung Foundation which works with the Catholic underground church in that sad land knows the horror of religious persecution..notice how the ‘hero’ McCain is silent on this issue as he is on all issues of substance.thats why the so called right wing radio pundits sing his praises..Rush,Bill etc etc all know what they are doing…I will fly my flag.outside of my home upside down during the games..for that is a sign of distress indeed..have we no moral leadership at all..or is secular humanisim the official religion of america after all….may God have mercy on our silence….........Nino

Sadly they’re really interested in the Olympic LOGO being protected as a ‘brand name’ and as a ‘trade mark’ which money can be made out of, as you say, CQ.

Uhh, so precious to say in the third video that “China could do more for human rights in Darfur and Burma” when the USA has murdered and displaced so many in Iraq and continued the decades of turmoil in Afghanistan and extended the war to bombing villagers in rural Pakistan.
As it is, the USA could “do more for human rights in Burma” by giving Chevron a good kick up the ass and diplomatically pressuring certain interest in ASEAN who are facilitating everything. The USA could also “do more” in E.Africa by NOT bombing innocent villagers in Somalia!
One would have to say that the relative ease with which Tibetan independence protestors have been able to disrupt the Olympic torch procession in Europe (that includes Britain) has been intentionally calculated by NATO member governments to deliberately put China in the worst light possible.
So disappointing that non-Tibetans (Anglos, Europeans) are overdoing things severely in ‘their’ demonstrations. Most of the ethnic Tibetan protestors, by comparison, are all relatively peaceful and harmless although it is they who have the real issues to complain about.
Now that IS a lesson in non-violence on the streets in the West but it is the white indigenes who are failing to appreciate that and are showing how essentially racist they really are. This is, after all, merely an EXCUSE for them to hate Chinese.
But the way the ‘independence movement’ ethnic Tibetans have behaved in Europe is quite atrocious and attacking and harassing a disabled athlete (a young Chinese lady with one leg) in a wheelchair is scandalous and will eventually backfire badly on their presumed cause.
Check this clip at around 50 sec (first attack) then around 1.15min+ and again at around 2.00min+ and her face has obviously become frightened - La flamme Olympique chahutee a Paris
She must have been terrified and holding on to the extinguished torch grimly and so bravely determined in a suddenly violent strange foreign country, uhh. What an awful experience - and despite being supposedly assurred of protection as a travelling Olympic official representative!!!
Unfortunately, its not about peace, or “freedom”, or human rights, or the Olympics or even Buddhism. in the West, its an excuse for their own human rights shortcomings - but for Tibetans, its simply about Tibetan INDEPENDENCE!
So much so, in fact, that Tibetans (expatriates/refugees and their second-generation children) are now fighting against even their own government-in-exile in Dharamsala and their own Dalai Lama as well as fighting China as well as ignoring their more moderate religious leaders.
While the Dalai Lama and his people have been quietly trying to negotiate a peace deal and new terms for Tibet’s relationship with China, the Tibetan people have apparently chosen not to wait as their frustrations boil over, right or wrong.
The situation is now so contentious that the outcome is far less predictable than before. It is in China’s hands how far things will go but they have to face the full force of the adverse publicity now being generated by different interest groups as well as the longer-term security issues.
On the Tibetan community Phayul website which has a picture of the Dalai Lama at the top of every page, there is an article, “Don’t Stop the Revolution!” which severely and perhaps very incorrectly criticizes the Dalai Lama and his government-in-exile for not being rabid revolutionaries as forces within their own government stupidly vie for influence!

Politics (poly meaning many and tics being blood sucking insects) have no place at a sporting event, let the best person win. National pride of a winner should be politics enough, bragging rights.
The U.S. has no moral right to accuse anyone of violating human rights. U.S. Citizens die everyday in the U.S. at the hands of some Taser equipped rent a cop.

Just another stunt to keep our minds off the continuing killings in Iraq and other lands. China acted exactly as the U.S. has in other days. Read “Virtual Tibet.”

The whole “carrying the torch” thing started in 1936 Olympics in Berlin. One of Adolf’s ideas, perhaps?
The Torch is being given more security than most people. It’s a THING, people. Spend the money, if you must, on helping talented athletes develop their skills.
As it is, the Olympics is just a gigantic money-grab.

It’s pretty stupid to protest the Olympics just because they are being held in China. They were held in Nazi Germany too. Not every country can have the racism-free, non-arms trading, perfect utopia of France and the UK, right? *laughs*
