Marshall

Joshua Micah Marshall of Talking Points Memo argues that John McCain’s foreign policy shortsightedness makes him unfit to command. It’s not just Iraq, Marshall says, but a pattern of looking at the world simplistically.

The media try to paint McCain as a “Maverick,” but whenever the Corporatists say “Jump,” he asks “How high?” on the way down. He is an oily opportunist who will say anything to get elected, and who will do anything he’s told by the Corporatists that pull his strings.
Sadly, there is precious little difference between him and Hillary. She was president of the College Republicans when she was at Wellesley, and a Glodwater Girl. For the past fifteen years she has been a member of a very secretive religious group called the Family; an organization whose membership reads like a Who’s Who of off-the-scale right-wing Nazis - I mean, conservatives.
Obama might be a breath of fresh air, and he has my support, but my hard-earned cyncism tells me he didn’t get this far without puckering up to kiss some serious Corporatist patootie somewhere along the campaign trail.
Bottom line: Don’t trust any of ‘em, and hold your super delegates’ feet to the fire and let them know that if they do an end run around the voters, they’re gonna pay dearly for it.

I also had a good opinion of McCain at one time but for several reasons I believe he is totally unacceptable now. First, he allowed Bush and Rove to trash him and still accepted them and the repug pty. Second, his stand on the war is totally unacceptable. Last, I begin to wonder about his mental faculties: he said that Iran was training al Qaeda, corrected it after Lieberman coached him, and then recanted that later. He is either forgetful, deliberating misleading us (like Bush) or is incompetent.

P.T…

Having spent a considerable amount of time assisting victims of Alzheimers, (as well as their families) I think it’s highly likely that John McCain may very well be at those beginning stages.

Many people ARE able to play it off for longer than others. Or..as in many cases, if he was already ‘compromised’ by some other psychological or personality troubles, it could be very difficult to distinguish the symptoms…specifically the changes in behavior.

Now that dr wu has provided us with a bit more background/history (which I didn’t know…like about the trophy wife who DOES in fact look like a zombie)
it makes a little bit more sense.

So, add the Alzheimers to what has possibly always been a personality of impulsiveness..(bi-polar maybe?) and it could be difficult to chart or otherwise diagnose.

Besides, at his age, it really isn’t all that unusual for many people to have some level of dementia. But Alzheimer’s was not originally termed for the purpose of defining dementia related to normal aging, but rather dementia affecting much younger people.

Considering McCain’s age, his demetia could just be exactly that…AGE related. On the other hand, I’ve heard from those who have had personal and long term contact with him, (people employed by him) that his “personality” has been jacked up for a long time.

So, whether it’s age related dementia, or demetia on top of a jacked-up personality and other psychological disorders, we just know that he’s UNFIT TO SERVE!!

Ditto this Purplegirl…

“Mac was at one time a Repub I held in great regard. But time has passed and reality challenges old perceptions ( I also actually thought I’d be an avid Hilalry supporter too- since I voted for Bill 2x’s).but alas the raveges of time take their toll and Hindsight is always 20/20.”

Me too. I don’t know if I can say that I ever held Mac in great regard, but there was certainly a time when I (as a life long democrat) would have accepted him as the most acceptable of the repugs for the office.

On the rest, same thing. I would also have expected to be an avid Hillary supporter. But, it’s hard to run away from the 20/20, even if it IS in hindsight.

In short, why would we accept something that has been ravaged by time, when there are better options, and we now know so much more than we did then?

I have no concerns about Mac’s age, I’ve worked with Seniors and know they are just as capable as any. Unless of course their body has suffered from illness and disease. Mac exhibits the classic signs of TIA’s (mini Strokes). His is more evident than Ronny’s slow progression into Alzheimers - although apprarent shortly after taking Office in his first Term. As for W, his mentally challenged status has been readily apparent far before he took office - while still in the Gov’s Mansion. But this is the intention of thoe who have infiltrated our Politics for nearly 40 yrs (Nixon was a Paranoid Schizphrenic long before the backlash to Vietman brought it to light). Who Oh Who has been pulling these strings for all these decades- offering Puppets as Front men. Who Oh Who has the audacity to respond to th edemands of the Citizens of this Country regarding Iraq with a self indulged arrogrant ‘SO’? Who oh who could be such a Dick? And who oh who could be so intoxicated by his own self rightousness as man Drunk on RUM? Who Oh who could be the beast who huffs and Puffs and blows our Democracy Down, Who oh who is the Wolf in this story? Who oh who allows them to Rove so Free, Who oh who has supplied the Rice to Commemerate their accomplishments.who oh who has been hiding &  awaiting for the amBush?

This pattern of repeated, blunt Lies by John ” super flip-flopper ” McCain, are an important strategy of some well calculated speeches which are intended to confuse the average, uninformed citizen.
Initiated, orchestrated and supported by such low-life
creepy, sleazy, slimy and lunatic characters as Lieberman, they actually should reveal to the broad public who`s behind all this and should tell concerned citizen that “McSame ” is plain and simply “unfit” to become president! Enough said, check

Most Americans are uninformed simpletons.  A simple message that instills fear will appeal to them.  Add a well hated opponent like Clinton, and McCain, unfit as he is, could end up our president.

Obama is a Muslim.

Iraq caused 9/11.

The surge is working.

Simple messages appeal to simple people.

McCain gets the Reagan treatment

He misspoke, he made a gaffe. Reagan, McCain, they blunder along. Is is that they don’t know or that their minds are gone? Whatever it is older Republican politicians get a pass. Fun guys…

McCain is dangerous though.

Straight talker speaks with forked tongue!

It’s been long known that McCain speaks with forked tongue, plus, he has a hair-trigger temper, plus, a trophy wife who looks like a zombie.

He dumped his first wife to marry his current fabulously wealthy trophy wife and beer heiress.

She’s some sort of control freak/pill addict and he’s just seconds away from exploding on someone who crosses him.

The lobbyists drive his straight talk bus and once in the Oval office he’d probably enjoy watching the military waterboard someone.  He’s dangerous!

Remember who John McCain is…a not very bright, captured pilot from the Vietnam war days. His father and grandfather were big-time Navy admirals –but John never made the grade. He had an affair with a young beer heiress while he was still married to his disabled wife. He later married the heiress and she bankrolled him and his campaign. He got caught up in the Keating 5 scandal and vowed to stay clear of lobbyists. He did not keep his vow–lobbyists, in fact, run his campaign and drive his straight -talk bus. Plus, he has a hair trigger temper and is seconds way from exploding on someone.

Cliff Notes summary:

John McCain, a straight-shooter with forked tongue.
Says he’s against torture, then votes for Bush’s waterboarding/torture.

Says he’s against saying stupid things (Hussein middle name for Obama) about Senate colleagues but said the most horrendous things about Senator Clinton’s daughter, Chelsea.

This straight-shooter is a back stabber!

John McCain’s screwup about Shia Iran supposedly training Sunni al-Qaida makes me wonder if he is in the early stages of Alzheimer’s.

McCain’s inability to think strategically, as opposed to tactically, seems in part driven by his personality:  He is impulsive.

Islam was of little concern to America.
When you see little joey LIEberman fawning McSame, you see the perpituity of an agenda set in motion before Bush stole his befouled place in history.

Do you want more of it, cause that’s exactly what we’ll get w/McCain - who’s health like his views are compromised.

Arrest Silverstein/Bushcon and heal or stay stuck in the lie.

Not a bad summery at all. This is why we are not voting Republican this year, despite all the fear mongering about giving the presidency to John McCain if such and such or such and such is nominated on the Democratic side. It’s bullshit because John McCain’s house of cards is more poorly built than even George Bush’s.

Numbers don’t lie, and Republican voter turnout has not, in any state, been anywhere close to the number of Democratic turnout. This is a race of two, not three.
