Just in time for Tuesday’s primaries, the Black Eyed Peas’ will.i.am has released another pro-Obama video, “We Are the Ones,” featuring another gaggle of celebs earnestly crooning and pledging their support for their favorite candidate. At right, actor John Leguizamo, one of the participants in the video.

Ask yourself one question:

Is it better to have a saint in office or a buffoon on steroids?

I am of Scottish Heritage, raised in the Hawaiian Islands and I feel I “got it” quite a few years ago, nice to see the rest of you.
The bit about “think globally, act locally” is extremely important.

Okay, Obama can be President if and only if, Obama Girl is White House Press Secretary:

In all seriousness, “We Are the Ones” should be playing on TV and billboarded across the Moon. Just hold the next president accountable for promises and above all, to the will of the people.

“Know the river has its destination.
The elders say we must let go of the shore,
push off toward the middle of the river,
keep our eyes open,
and our heads above the water.”

And keep a sharp eye for those strainers.

Thank you GrammaConcep for posting this spiritually uplifting message from the Elders. It expresses the profound wisdom of the Natives. As much as I want a qualified person of any color to be the president of this country, I do want even more to see a Native American as a president, as it happened in Bolivia. After all, most of us are newcomers, and they are the original hosts and the salt of this earth.

As I did yet further research on the above text, I found that there is, indeed, some controversy as to the “Hopi” source…I am not convinced of inaccuracy…merely an honest woman..
For myself, and for many, the arrangement and imagery of the words within it are significant and powerful and morally moving, enough to be worthy of deep consideration, whatever the source…

starting the day off with a good cry.

If it’s generational, it must skip every other.  I was already stealing beer by the time you were born and I loved the guy the first time I heard/saw him speak.  I remember when Cassius Clay changed his name to Muhammad Ali.  The uproar was incredible.  Plenty of a-holes back then and still plenty now but he won.

Hey Rick! I’m 24 years old, and for the first time in my life I have been volunteering for a Presidential campaign. I want to answer your question “But what does it mean?” I can’t speak for everyone my age but I can speak for myself in why I support him. I support him because: he opposed the war in Iraq back in 2002, as President he will restore Habeas Corpus to the Constitution, he will close the prison in Guantanamo and end the Bush-Cheney policies of torture. All of that means alot to me…he had the common sense to see the war as a mistake from the start and he will defend our civil liberties. Also as President he will meet with our friends and foes, because as he says he understands what John F. Kennedy meant when he said, “Never negotiate out of fear, but never fear to negotiate.” I could go on and on…but to keep it short, he is a man with ALOT of substance and not just STYLE. I believe he truly wants to bring this country together again. I think he has the best chance to bring about the reforms this country desperately need as Hillary is a political figure who is too polarizing. And last I truly believe he is genuine and sincere and that he cares about people. His message is one of courage and hope instead of fear mongering in a post 9/11 world. I urge you to go to his website…read his speeches…read his stances on the issues. I hope I was able to shed some light on your question.

Oh come on, my fellow 42 year old (actually, I’ll turn 42 later this year). This is not just generational.  You want to know what the meaning of music is?  Do you really look for policy statements in songs?  Music moves the heart.  At its best it remembers the brain too.  But in the course of every campaign I think there is plenty of room for appealing to both heart and head.  This is mostly a heart piece, but the message is simple: we have hopes and dreams (some of which are named herein) which, together with Obama, we will work to actualize.

I don’t think this video was quite as good as the first.  The first was just fantastic.  If I watch the first alone in my room I cry—and I’m not a big cryer.  (Aside from that video its pretty much just weddings and the national anthem.)  This newer video just gives me a moment of chills.

If that video is not doing it for you, not to worry.  Perhaps the Viva Obama mariachi band will get you.  I find it endlessly entertaining.  No tears or chills, just a good time.

Thanks GrammaConcept..for this. I love it.

It puts another inch/foot/mile on my spiritual growth chart.

These are the ingredients required for any spiritual growth diet.

Thanks again.

Oh…this clip is great too. Goes perfectly with the message from The Elders…

We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.

But what does it mean? Obamamania is surely generational. I don’t get it, and I’m only 42.

You have been telling the people that this is the Eleventh Hour.
Now you must go back and tell the people that this is The Hour.

Here are the things that must be considered:

Where are you living?
What are you doing?
What are your relationships?
Are you in right relation?
Where is your water?
Know our garden.
It is time to speak your Truth.
Create your community.
Be good to each other.
And do not look outside yourself for the leader.

This could be a good time!

There is a river flowing now very fast.
It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid.
They will try to hold on to the shore.
They will feel like they are being torn apart,
and they will suffer greatly.

Know the river has its destination.
The elders say we must let go of the shore,
push off toward the middle of the river,
keep our eyes open,
and our heads above the water.

See who is there with you and celebrate.

At this time in history,
we are to take nothing personally,
least of all ourselves!
For the moment we do,
our spiritual growth and journey comes to a halt.

The time of the lonely wolf is over.
Gather yourselves!

Banish the word struggle from your attitude and vocabulary.

All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner
and in celebration.

We are the ones we have been waiting for.

The Elders,
Oraibi, Arizona
Hopi Nation
