Bush Unable to Avoid Public Display of Dancing in Liberia

dancing Bush

It’s hard to tell from this clip whether the people rushing to the stage to egg President Bush on as he attempts to enact a little rhythmic diplomacy at this recent function in Liberia are cheering for or jeering at him.  We have our suspicions, though.

“You’re on that hit series Dancing at the Bars.”

I find the idea of Bush dancing to be pretty funny as well.

But I guess I’d liken the difference between Fox vs. Truthdig running this story to the difference between a black person using the “N” word vs. a white person using it.

purplewolf says:
“And I liked your comment about the colonic, but with Bush being an oil man, shouldn’t we use gasoline instead of vinegar and maybe have a smoking person in close proximity?”

purplewolf,  That’s kind of fresh talk. And besides, if they detonate W’s colon, there will be at least a dozen lonely racehorses left hanging in the Lonestar State.

In fairness to Truthdig, my first view of “Bush goes Native” [that’s what the news blip was titled] was on my local FOX affiliate. Their comments weren’t particularly flattering either.

“What is he doing?”

“I think he’s trying to dance!”

“Oh ... Are you sure?”

“No ... “

Followed by laughter.

Actually I got a kick out of it. All in good sport you know. Whether or not it was viewed by the natives as a social foo-pah we’ll probably never know.

All the little Bush-haters trotting out their easy arm-chair insults and puffing up each other’s egos with their mutual slaps on the back.  Pretty sad.  I’ve seen better insults scratched on the door in my high school crapper.  Truthdig only undermines itself by throwing up these cheap shot “stories” to its peanut gallery.  And here I thought the “Obama in traditional garb” picture was lame…

Personally, I think Bush is behaving in a very appropriate fashion, given his favorite method of exposure to foreigners. Particularly of the African variety.

The great American Cinema.

Wasn’t it Kathleen Turner who jumped up and began dancing in a similar fashion in Jewel of the Nile?
Eventually joined by Michael Douglas, who, removing the typical Hollywood sex factor looked equally silly.

We can only imagine how our president viewed himself. wink
Uhhh ... actually lets not go there.

Cyrena, Dear! Your post in response to mine made me really laugh from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for the laugh, I do need that therapy. I continue to read all your posts and greatly appreciate them.

purplewolf:

Understood.  My apologies for assuming.

As an aside, I suffered from occasional petit mal TSA seizures for a period of just over a decade.  So I empathize.

Re the colonic, your idea is MUCH better!  LOL.

Peace.

There seems to be whole series of jokes you can’t make:
No fat jokes, no drunk jokes, no ethnic jokes, no short person jokes, no blonde jokes, no wife jokes, no sex jokes, and no idiot jokes. What a dark and gloomy world!

President Bush is strong and determined. NOTHING can keep him from his chosen path…
. .
. .
to embarrass us Americans WHEREVER he goes in the world.

I’ll bet the Peggy Noonans and Ann Coultergeists are drooling again like they did at his Chimpy McFlightsuit moment “The president is a hottie!”

‘scuse me while I quietly go vomit…

Manni, I have a very close friend who has post polio syndrome and she can barely move now at age 55. My late husband suffered from Grand Mal-Psycho Motor epileptic seizures and those resembled the movements of Bush trying to dance. No offense to those suffering from epilepsy was intended.

And I liked your comment about the colonic, but with Bush being an oil man, shouldn’t we use gasoline instead of vinegar and maybe have a smoking person in close proximity?

Hmmm…if we should not nsult polio victims, I think we ought not insult those who suffer from epilespy either…

That said, I love the “worm medicine” line…LOL.  Seems to me what Bush needs is a colonic - maybe with vinegar…

Peace.

A smiling Bush is more obscene than Ted Bundy smiling at his trial.  I only see greed and death no matter what he’s doing.

I dunno Fadel,

I’m likely to agree with Maani again on this. He’s just a dumb white boy who can’t dance, and the Liberians, (at least the ones in this clip) are just to polite to laugh out loud, like I would do.

As for the positive human side of him, I can see the positive human side of chimpanzees as well. Actually, I used to hang out with one years ago. Her name was Elizabeth. She was actually a ward of the psychology dept/lab, but I used to take her around with me on errands and other outings. She was quite charming most of the time, though she did create the occasional embarrassing moment. (like george here).

Still, she could certainly dance better.

Meantime, I’m in sincere admiration of the people in attendance here. I would have either been laughing out loud, or throwing rotten eggs at him.

Paracelsus, please don’t insult the victims of polio, it looks more like a half assed attempt to have an epileptic seizure. When my dog acts like that(all squirmy) I give him worm medicine.

What an irony that a man so much hated in many parts of the world, including his own country, can still find a stage where he can spontaneously get up and shake it when he never has done that in his own country.

There are in my opinion two possible explanations for this: One is that he is dancing away the pain of his painful legacy he is now becoming more aware of as his prime time on the world stage is about to expire forever. The other is that he is trying artificially to project an image of being popular, liked and even relaxed among those who like him. With these images, even I, a sworn hater of Bush’s work, can be tempted to see a positive human side to him. This is indeed an irony that can only be staged in the world of politics!
