Middle East Tunes In to the CampaignPosted on Feb 1, 2008
The Mosaic Intelligence Report follows the Middle Eastern media as they report on the U.S. presidential campaign with rapt attention. After all, this is the future head of the world’s only superpower (one that has taken a keen interest in the neighborhood) we’re talking about here.

Obama’s change is represented by several aspect of his campaign. randyha’s reasons don’t get to the core of his issues. Barack’s policies of inclusion (which brings all Americans to the table, not just staunch Democrats and DLCs))will create a climate for change to happen across all partisanship. The ability he has to make bold decisions because they are right by his convictions is something most politicians don’t do anymore. He is for ethics reform. During 8 years in the Illinois State Senate sponsored and passed reform laws of which no other candidate offers that kind of change.
Above all, he can speak to all people. This is a foreign policy dream candidate, of which is very likable not just at home so much as globally understood. This man has gone to help people abroad, and has lead a life by his convictions. What candidate offers such values and good judgement as Barack? The answer is clearly none.

Who cares what does he think of Israel. We have more things to worry about in this country than remain the cash cow for Israel.
Apparently you seem to care by that remark. You ought to think hard about supporting Obama in regard to your sentiments, I should think.

For one thing Bush dragged us into a Iraq over a lie causing the death of thousands and waisting billions of dollars of US taxpayers’ money. And Hillary voted for and approved that war! Obama was one of the few who voted against that war. Both Clinton and Bush lied in the White House. Just review their records.

Is this the only thing you like about Obama? Whether or not he is pro-Israel? Who cares what does he think of Israel. We have more things to worry about in this country than remain the cash cow for Israel.

randyha - you parrot a infantile campaign slogan. Everyone is for change and sick of Bushs and Clintons. Tell me please specifically, what kind of change is Obama for?

Hmmm, no one is covering the slicing of THREE Middle East undersea internet backbones. That’s right, three in just the last few days. Odds of that as accidental are astronomical.
But odds are pretty good that they’re wiretapping those cables. The ONLY way to wiretap fiber optics is by cutting and splicing in a device. It can’t be done undetected, but certainly can be blamed on really really bad luck.

Obama and Israel
New York Sun Editorial - January 9, 2008
In remarks to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee in Chicago in March, Mr. Obama spoke about his first visit to Israel, in January 2006. “I flew on an IDF helicopter to the border zone. The helicopter took us over the most troubled and dangerous areas and that narrow strip between the West Bank and the Mediterranean Sea. At that height, I could see the hills and the terrain that generations have walked across. I could truly see how close everything is and why peace through security is the only way for Israel,” Mr. Obama said.
Mr. Obama spoke of “a clear and strong commitment to the security of Israel: our strongest ally in the region and its only established democracy.” Quoth he: “That will always be my starting point.” Mr. Obama spoke of the threat of Iran. “President Ahmadinejad has denied the Holocaust. He held a conference in his country, claiming it was a myth. But we know the Holocaust was as real as the 6 million who died in mass graves at Buchenwald, or the cattle cars to Dachau or whose ashes clouded the sky at Auschwitz. We have seen the pictures. We have walked the halls of the Holocaust museum in Washington and Yad Vashem. We have touched the tattoos on loved-ones arms. After 60 years, it is time to deny the deniers,” he said.
He took Israel’s side against those who would fault it for its actions in Lebanon in the Summer of 2006. “When Israel is attacked, we must stand up for Israel’s legitimate right to defend itself,” Mr. Obama said. “Last summer, Hezbollah attacked Israel. By using Lebanon as an outpost for terrorism, and innocent people as shields, Hezbollah has also engulfed that entire nation in violence and conflict, and threatened the fledgling movement for democracy there.”
And Mr. Obama rejected the idea, put forth by Israel’s false friends, that America does Israel any favors by exerting pressure in the name of peace. “We should never seek to dictate what is best for the Israelis and their security interests. No Israeli Prime Minister should ever feel dragged to or blocked from the negotiating table by the United States,” Mr. Obama said. “When I am president, the United States will stand shoulder to shoulder with Israel,” Mr. Obama told the National Jewish Democratic Council in February of 2007.
As a candidate, he has chosen to put himself on the record in terms that Israel’s friends in America, at least those not motivated by pure political partisanship, can warmly welcome.

Sounds like a Zionist to me, and I’m liking it.
