Jesus, Then the Dinosaurs, Then the Greeks ...Posted on Dec 5, 2007
Here’s an easy question: What’s worse, someone who doesn’t know anything about the world or someone who tries to spread his or her ignorance to others on national television? “The View’s” Sherri Shepard, who once admitted she didn’t know if the world was flat, insists that “Jesus came first before [the Greeks and Romans]” and “I don’t think anything predated Christians.” Really? What about Pangea? Clearly, this woman has never heard the meaning of the expression BC. Watch it: Advertisement CommentsAre you a Truthdig member yet? Login now, or register with Truthdig. I did watch the whole show that day and NO it wasn’t taken out of context. I was so stunned that anyone that age, in modern america could be sounaware of her ignorance. It didn’t help the cause of the other women that they declared that since it rained in georgia after the spectacle of prayer led by the state governor, that god had answered their prayers.
what gets me riled up about the deeply religious is not just about their ignorance because everyone is ignorant on some issue. It is their intentional submission to the cause of illiteracy and then their arrogant ‘i know’ view of things they obviously have no clue about that gets me going.

According to the Bible…
...
My point is, this woman may exhibit breathtaking ignorance on a national stage, but who are these critics to throw stones?
You have got the be kidding, brother.
It is one thing to get a few facts wrong, or to be somewhat uninformed, or to have a one-side view of something. People make mistakes.
But, this is an example of not just a kind of GROSS IGNORANCE but of a kind of DELUSIONAL BELIEF, a COLOSSAL MISUNDERSTANDING upon a scale that should rock this country to the core.
It is about, what, a six grade education of history to understand the basics of the general eras of civilization? Perhaps eighth grade.
This is not just getting immigration numbers wrong. This is about the overall, average intelligence of the American Populous. ALL of those on that show have demonstrated a PROFOUND IGNORANCE.
And that is not the worst of it! They all probably believe that they are quite educated! That they are pretty well informed about what they are saying.
This is not just about getting a few facts wrong. We all do that from time to time.
As far as “teaching the Bible” goes, the problem stems from the basic fact that people seem to think that one needs to just “learn the Bible” and then nothing else. Which is absolute idiocy and the cause of so many problems.
Understanding history is certainly not antithetical to the Bible. One can have a great understanding of history and still retain a faith in Christianity and in Jesus’s teachings.
Those who rely on just the Bible for their education are those who accomplish nothing in their lives.

Doug Chalmers, just save it in “My Favorites” and read it at your leisure. I know it’s kind of long (takes a couple hours at least to absorb it all), but you can scroll down to any date/event in history to find an alternate to what we have been propagandized into believing is historical truth/fact. Good hunting.

Thanks, PMS. I don’t know which section you wnat me to read there - there’s quite a lot, but I agree with your main point that there is a RICHISTAN in existence and its members (Rothschilds included) have generally decided to pretend “...WE ARE the chosen people!” and to cut the world up accordingly.
But please don’t confuse my statements as “headbutting” as you then miss my point about erroneous misinterpretations. There is, after all, quite a bit of wisdom in most religious works but it is being undermined and the plethora of so-called plain-language “new bibles” released in the past few decades had done much to worsen that.
As I said, what could be more absurd that “a log of wood” in your eye yet that is typical of the incredulous shoddy translations being foisted upon people nowadays. And, that also goes to show that most priests and ministers these day haven’t a clue, either, and can hardly be relied upon for accuracy never mind spiritual guidance.

Hi Doug, good to see you posting, and I actually have enjoyed your theological ‘debate’ with niloroth, very interesting & somewhat informative, even if you don’t agree on an insignificant point. Your head-butting confirms the point I made, “...religion is just a tool these insidious people use to keep all of us divided, so they can profit by selling weapons to both sides of conflicts.”
As far as the Bauers/Rothschilds originating the design of the so called ‘Jewish’ Star, of course not. The first one was likely traced in the sand by some artistic caveman well before the Sphinx, or possibly the Lascaux Cave painting.
If you will look back & read more carefully you will see what I actually said was, “...the symbol on the Ireali flag, a six pointed star sometimes referred to erroneously as a Jewish Star, comes from a business sign hung outside the store of the non-Jewish Georgian (Russia)Bauer family sometime over a thousand years ago.”
Obviously, you didn’t take time to peruse the link I posted or you wouldn’t have made the assumption you did.
For the record, as a former geology major, I believe dinosaurs went extinct about 65 million years ago, and no human person ever rode one. I guess I’m leaving myself open to someone claiming the ‘mythological’ Jesus possibly rode one, but doesn’t this, in REALITY, make my point exactly?

“Thats why the Jews have a Hexagon as a religious symbol - because they dont really understand these things, uhh.”
Actually, the symbol on the Ireali flag, a six pointed star sometimes referred to erroneously as a ‘Jewish Star’, comes from a business sign hung outside the store of the non-Jewish Georgian (Russia)Bauer family sometime over a thousand years ago. Later the family changed names to Rothschild, and have been creating havoc in the world for hundreds of years. The six pointed star translates geometrically & numerically into 666, which from a common acceptance of it’s/their sinister designs against humans is totally appropriate. Here is a timeline of the history of this family, and the dastardly acts they have caused & foisted upon us:

After you have read this history you will understand religion is just a tool these insidious people use to keep all of us divided, so they can profit by selling weapons to both sides of conflicts.

So, for generations (or maybe it was only recently?), biblical scholars have been able to mislead themselves - and others - by their obsessive obtuseness and resultant ignorance, uhh.
If you wish to stay with the “wooden” version of Dokos as the Greek root, consider that it also referred to “straight” wooden poles (like a tent-pole) as well as logs before sawn wood ever existed.
Thus, it referred to “a straight look” in ancient useage as well. As we know, there are straight looks, sharp looks, and hard looks….... nothing to do with any “log” in your eye, you sad fool!

Here is more truth of God Word, not the vain inmaginations of men
The truth of God Word “The May 15 Prophecy have made it known to those who watch, that the Little Horn (Anti-Christ) was here once before (actually twice, but once in recorded history) in the form of Alexander The Great, and while in possession of him he was worship as a god, the Egyptian anointed him as the greatest of all Pharaohs and he was the only one to be proclaimed as the son of Zeus-Ammon, as all of our most respected sources of history show.
Last Day Watcher the reason they declared him to be the son of Zeus-Ammon was the fact that they believed he was Fathered by Zeus-Ammon, check any historical record of Alexander The Great and you will find this
excerpt form the Linvis web site
http://www.livius.org/aj-al/alexander/alexander_t32.html
“Phillip, after this vision, sent Chaeron of Megalopolis to consult the oracle of Apollo at Delphi, by which he was commanded to perform sacrifice, and henceforth pay particular honor, above all other gods, to Ammon [4]; and was told he should one day lose that eye with which he presumed to peep through that chink of the door, when he saw the god, under the form of a serpent, in the company of his wife”
and also excerpt from Wikipedia web site http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_the_Great#Early_life
“After his visit to the Oracle of Ammon at Siwa, according to five historians of antiquity (Arrian, Curtius, Diodorus, Justin, and Plutarch), rumors spread that the Oracle had revealed Alexander’s father to be Zeus, rather than Philip. In support of this, Plutarch (Alexander 3.1,3) claims that Philip avoided Olympias’ bed because of her affinity for sleeping in the company of snakes”
“At the temple, he was welcomed by the priests and spoke to the oracle. The priest told him that he was a son of Zeus Ammon, destined to rule the world, and this must have confirmed in him his belief of divine origin. Alexander remained in Egypt until the middle of 331, and then returned to Tyre before facing Darius.”
Whether you believe in the history or not, for you may call them legends of Alexander that is up to you, but you will be wise to take what the bible say about him very seriously and what the bible say about him, describing him as a beast, who at the height of his power had the demon -spirit plucked from his body leaving him broken.
Daniel chapter 8 verse 8
“And when he was strong, the Great horn was broken”

Poor niloroth, ha ha. A literal interpretation is irrelevant when it comes to actual useage of a language. Try translating back and forth between “Engrish” and Japanese or Chinese and you will soon see.
Dokos (Greek: Δοκός) is a small Greek island of the Argo-Saronic Gulf, adjacent to Hydra, and separated from the Peloponnese by a narrow strait called on some maps “the Hydra Gulf.”
The old term came from the sailors having to keep “a sharp eye” or look out for the island - or they might run aground on the rocks there. Do you want to go on….... http://isthmia.osu.edu/dokos.html

No niloroth, and this is an interesting point when it comes to orthodox Christianity - and maybe some other religions as well, too.
It has nothing to do with concordance but accuracy. Yes, there are versions which state that it is a “piece of wood” and that is exactly why I pointed that out.

Huh? It’s not hypocrisy to criticize someone in a position of influence for their ignorance of easily demonstrated facts (i.e. Earth is a sphere), nor is it hypocritical to get Biblical “facts” wrong in the process (an error, not hypocrisy).
It may appear hypocritical to get Biblical facts wrong while criticizing someone who’s getting scientific and historical facts wrong, but the major difference is that the Bible is an arbitrary work of literature, having several translations available to pick from (with substantial differences) and infinite interpretations possible, so arguing within the confines of the Bible is as pointless as arguing about the true origin of Orcs in the Lord of the Rings. There may be valid debates possible about Orc origins within the context of the books, and I may be ignorant of them, but no one is going to convince me that Orcs are REAL merely through debate. Just because I don’t know all the details of someone’s dark fairy tale does not mean my criticism of their lack of knowledge of clear-cut facts concerning the real world is hypocritical. The point is, she is doing damage.
BTW: Lord of the Rings is FAR better than the Bible; it teaches more and better lessons, it’s much more entertaining, it’s internally consistent, and no one uses it as justification for atrocities they may commit.

What an ignorant debate this is. When you believe in the fairy tales espoused by religious types and their religious texts you have essentially surrendered yourself to lies and deceit. Come on people, anyone who has studied the history of religion and the Bible (not to mention the Torah, Koran, etc.) knows that they were conceived and written by MEN, NOT GOD. They were conceived to CONTROL people. To manipulate them.
If believing those lies helps you get through the day, then fine, but please spare the rest of us who actually have a brain and are able to think for ourselves the indignity of listening to your unhinged view of the world.
You so-called Christians can’t even follow the dictates of your supposed savior Jesus. Didn’t he say to love your neighbors and your enemies? Didn’t he say to turn the other cheek? Isn’t one of the commandmandments “thou shall NOT kill”? Christian nation my ass!

Look, its simple. From the point of view of most, if not all, Christians (at least until the conclusion of the Council of Nicaea) believe that Jesus was begotten by God at the beginning of time. As a carnal manifestation of God, he existed for all time, both past and future. So, in that sense, its perfectly appropriate for a Christian to assert that Jesus came first. Just like a Rabbi saying that the Torah was the first law because they believe it existed with God since before the creation of the earth.
So get over yourselves. You aint much smarter than she is if you lash out and attack with no understanding.
Yeah, you got it! Very few know the history of Christianity. My only question is; does she know this? Here is More excerpt of the May 15th Prophecy<.b> post titled <b>“The 6 Insurrections (Insurgency)”
“Jude wrote concerning Enoch in Jude 1 verse 14
Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also, saying, Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints,”
“To execute judgment on all, to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.
“The good and faithful Jude wrote that to give testimony to what Enoch had wrote in his book (The Book of Enoch) about the coming of the Most High with his saints and to give a truthful witness of Enoch who wrote about Satan in his attempt to merge with man”
“Here is a example of that Construction Crew of Heavenly Angels Enoch chapter 6 verse 1-8
And it came to pass when the children of men had multiplied that in those days were born unto
them beautiful and comely daughters. And the angels, the children of the heaven, saw and lusted after them, and said to one another: ‘Come, let us choose us wives from among the children of men
and beget us children.’ And Semjaza, who was their leader, said unto them: ‘I fear ye will not
indeed agree to do this deed, and I alone shall have to pay the penalty of a great sin.’ And they all answered him and said: ‘Let us all swear an oath, and all bind ourselves by mutual imprecations
not to abandon this plan but to do this thing.’ Then sware they all together and bound themselves
by mutual imprecations upon it. And they were in all two hundred; who descended in the days of Jared on the summit of Mount Hermon, and they called it Mount Hermon, because they had sworn
and bound themselves by mutual imprecations upon it. And these are the names of their leaders: Samlazaz, their leader, Araklba, Rameel, Kokablel, Tamlel, Ramlel, Danel,Ezeqeel, Baraqijal,
Asael, Armaros, Batarel, Ananel, Zaq1el, Samsapeel, Satarel, Turel, Jomjael, Sariel. These are their chiefs of tens
“When Enoch had lived 65 years, he became the father of Methuselah who God had said when he dies the end will come thus was the meaning of his name which shows a picture of God patience and long suffering in that the person he was using to determine when his destruction of men by the flood would come, turn out to be the very man who would live longer then any man in history.”
“And Methuselah begat Lamech and Lamech begat Noah, and so it was during this time that Satan also went into the daughters of men to produce himself a son to usurp God Anointed.”
“But God indeed with a strong hand said to Micheal in Enoch chapter 10 verse 11-15”
And the Lord said unto Michael: ‘Go, bind Semjaza and his associates who have united themselves with women so as to have defiled themselves
with them in all their uncleanness. And when their sons have slain one another, and they have seen the destruction of their beloved ones, bind them fast for seventy generations in the valleys of the earth, till the day of their judgement and of their consummation, till the judgement that is
for ever and ever is consummated. In those days they shall be led off to the abyss of fire: “

Douglas #118107,
Hi Douglas,
could not find anything of substance on the weird German movie.
Anyhow, the quote is out of context. They were talking about Epicurus (341BCE-270BCE)and that is why the obnoxious one said that the Greeks came first.
I am still trying to find some humor in this clip, while my inner feminist is groaning.

Well, I won’t pretend to know what Sheperd really thinks, it seems a lot of this sturm and drang comes from the ignorance of ya’ll. Look, it’s simple. From the point of view of most, if not all, Christians (at least until the conclusion of the Council of Nicaea) believe that Jesus was begotten by God at the beginning of time. As a carnal manifestation of God, he existed for all time, both past and future. So, in that sense, it’s perfectly appropriate for a Christian to assert that “Jesus came first.” Just like a Rabbi saying that the Torah was the first law because they believe it existed with God since before the creation of the earth.
So get over yourselves. You ain’t much smarter than she is if you lash out and attack with no understanding.

It is obvious that Sheri never ate of the “tree of knowledge”, that GOD (?), quoted by words of hearsay, written down after generations of oral traditional gossip, warned about in the bible. Between the religious organizations, which continue to keep people of faith ignorant and full of superstitious beliefs against actual truths and facts of logic, even in the face of proven evidence to the contrary, to the dumbing down of the population not only in America, but the world as a whole, this should be no surprise. She is a product of the times.
Sheri never had a chance to develop the intelligence she was born with. Religious dogma was no doubt pounded into her from the time of birth, eradicating any natural intellect she once possessed. Schooling just reinforces this view. If this country ever allows the religious groups to put religious training back into the schools, it will be one giant step back to the Dark Ages. We will see more of the same type of illogical behaviour out of the people of America that we now witness today here and in other countries where lack of education, religious domination, intolerance to anything outside of strict view of interpretation of whatever religious book currently being used by the dominating ruling group.

How does one promote reason and secularism to those who cannot see things that are self-evident? Maybe we should start indoctrinating kids to be skeptical and pragmatic… Then we might evolve some sense on our own. What happened to the stigma associated with being dumb? Oh thats right… its a stigma associated with being smart. We applaud stupidy and the right to believe whatever you want no matter how rediculous or dangerous it is.

If yopu want the true timeline on the history of the Universe Here is a excerpt of the May 15th Prophecy titled “The 6 Insurrections (Insurgency)”
The only source that has been 100% accurate to the “Truth” that happening today
“I therefore inform you of all 6 Insurrections (Insurgency) noted below to make plain of the 5th the world about to experience, they are
Insurrection (Insurgency) #1 The Angelic Rebellion
Satan, then called Lucifer, God most Anointed Cherubim Angel was given the prestigious and high honour of leading the songs of praise to the Most High, whenever the Son of God gather themselves to meet at the headquarters of the universe call the Earth that the Most High God created. And all the Sons of God shouted for Joy
It was then After leading with a beautiful voice the national anthem if you will, a song of praise to God, that upon hearing the applauses he drew from the excellence of his voice he began to say in his heart
I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred north mountain.
I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.
And he conpired with a 3rd of the heavenly host in heaven that they can, by a grand allegiance, takeover the universe and rule, then darkness began to invade the universe because before then there was only light and more light and light upon light that made up the universe.
Satan thinking he could approach the throne of the Most High with a 3rd of his creation, surmising that the Most High would not destroy his own creation that he had made immortal, and he could sit above him.
But the Lord of Host indeed with a strong hand had Michael and his Angels to bind most of the 3rd of Satans Angels and placed some in Black holes, some into the pits under the earth and various planets, and some into the sockets of the universe
Nevertheless The Most High suffered no one to bind Lucifer (who he now called Satan) and a few of his Angels but allowed them complete access to all of the heavens to allow his continued rebellion to play out.
One Insurrection (Insurgency) is gone, but five more are yet to fellow.
Insurrection (Insurgency) #2 The Caveman Rebellion
Satan having complete access to the heavens saw the promise of God message in the stars and about the coming glory of the Son of Man, so he began to think that he could beat God to the punch and have man worship him, so he began to take the elements of the dust of the earth, and began to created himself man like creatures (caveman) who had no soul but were beast of men.
Also he created hideous creatures and profane beasts called dinosaurs and he said I will take this society that I created and I will be like the Most high
But the Lord of Host indeed with a strong hand said to Michael the Arch Angel to throw a comet at the earth to destroy the society Satan had built, and then Michael threw the comet at the Earth to fulfill the scripture in Genesis 1 verse 2
The earth became a desolation and a waste
and was
without form and void
After the comet destroyed Satan evil society darkness was over the face of the deep and the spirit of God hoverth over depths and he began to recreate the earth that Satan had mess up and made profane, And in six day he recreated it and made man out of the dust and breath into him a soul like himself to replenish the Earth.

O.K. so this poor woman made the mistake of walking into the realm of celebrity. She’s fair game. But what can we say of the folks here who are so critical? Hypocritical?
Fact check: According to the Bible, Abraham lived to be 175 (if you can’t bother picking up a bible, at least check with Wikipedia). Not 900.
According to the Bible Christ said he would come in “the blinking of an eye” (or in an instant)
he also said some would be sleeping (a night activity), some would be making bread (a morning activity) and some would be plowing in a field (a daytime activity). He illustrated the effect of a rotational earth more than 1600 years before Galileo came into argument with the miscalculating Vatican.
My point is, this woman may exhibit breathtaking ignorance on a national stage, but who are these critics to throw stones?

The only honorable thing for any teacher that Ms. Sherri had throughout her life to do is Seppuku.
Christianity is nothing more than an excuse for willful ignorance and the practice of abject cruelty to those not in the “chosen” group. This is just another example that leaves little doubt in my mind that humans as a species will not survive this century.

i am thinking she is at the low end of the bell curve, so, thankfully, no does not disprove darwin.
This is a perfect example of why religion makes people more dumber. She has claimed she believes everything in the bible, and, well, she is kinda keeping with that. for instance, the bible says the earth is flat, and she thinks that might be so, and she doubts the existence of anything before christ, which i must admit is a stretch even for most christians. Although, she probebly also believes the earth is only 6,000 years old, so really, just a matter of how wrong she is.
Like most christians, she doesn’t even know her own holly book. I wonder if she supports slavery and the submission of women as well, and of course the murder of gays and heritics?
Ignorance is deadly.

The Panel of The View pretty much takes two giant steps backwards for any gains woman have made in this country over the last hundred years and helps to reconfirm the stereotype of the “ugly, uninformed American”.
How could any show, even if it is centered on frivolous stuff such as entertainment industry watching and fashion hire a host such as Shepard who just plainly lacks intellectually curiosity? I mean, here’s a purported Christian who apparently has even read her own religious tome, you know, the one where Jesus doesn’t show up until the second half.
Do you think the producers just decided they needed someone dumber than a stump to attract the untargeted dumber than a stump segment of the audience?
