‘Daily Show’ Flashback: Tea and Sympathy With MusharrafPosted on Nov 5, 2007
What a difference a (little more than a) year makes! Why, it was just last September when Jon Stewart sat down for tea and Twinkies with Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf for a pillowy-soft chat about Musharraf’s book, “In the Line of Fire.” In Stewart’s defense, though, he did kick off the interview with a salvo: “Where is Osama bin Laden?” Watch it: Part 1: Part 2:

Quote from comment: “Terrorism and or resistance movements will continue to exist until REAL US funded and sponsored global tyranny ends.”
But that would probably make the price of my $1.99 pack of six pair of tube socks go up, no?
Deep down, we know we like it this way (“we” being the beneficiaries of cheap labor and oil) so we turn away from from these awkward realities because not seeing the truth is almost like not being complicit with the implications of that truth, or so we think. That’s why when Bush advised us at the beginning of the Iraq war to “go shopping” as an expression of our patriotism, he was absolutely correct. And when Samuel Johnson said “Patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel” he too was correct.

I think some comments here are very telling. What is being said is simply that ” what is good for the US is whats good for the US and all other countries may be forced to endure terrible dictators in order to keep our corporate, economic energy and military interests in order “, is that right ?? So a dictator is good if he keeps people in ??? Maybe if those dictators werent running around, killing, torturing, disapearing people in their respective countries, maybe there would be less ” just released out of the dungeon ” terrorists running around.
This is all a good punctuation about what BLOWBACK is all about, we run around the world bullshiting everyone about ” freedom ” and ” democracy ” , yet when it comes down to it, we dont give a shit as long as the dictators we sponsor do a good job of keeping left wing elements suppressed. We will continue to be hated around the world as long as we are toppling REAL democratic governments, sponsoring and funding torturing war criminal terrorist dicators and meddling in the over all affairs of the world. The US needs to focus on the US, deal with the world, of course but stop telling everyone what to do or how to do it, it is patronizing, and just looking at, Russia, China, Asia and 70% of Latin America, I think we can all see they just aren’t buying our load of free market right wing capitalist model US subservient bullshit anymore.
Mushareff is the tip of the iceberg, th Saudis, Israelis , and Mubarek are running full scale terrorist dictatorhsip, Has anyone checked out misrdigital.com, it is just disgusting how these governments torture their own citizens.
Now the obvious reply will be, many countries do this, well you are right, but do we have to expose our blatant hypocrisy by sponsoring and funding these scum bags ???
Terrorism and or resistance movements will continue to exist until REAL US funded and sponsored global tyranny ends.
I hope that day comes sooner than later

Jon Stewart goes on to explain his (and our) ignorance of the Pakisatni culture and all the different factions that oppose each other.
I support Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf simply because I think he has demonstrated an ability to keep all the factions in Pakistan in some sort of control.
I believe that our major mistake in Iraq was deposing Saddam Hussein for the same reason. He too had a semblence of control over the Fundementalists in that country.
I find it ludicrus that Sec. of State Condi Riceroni is urging the Pakistani president to move back to more democratic rule when she and her boss advocate suspension of habeas Corpus and permanent enactment of the “Patriot Act”.
In-so-far as in country terrorists and insurgents are concerned Pakistan has more then it’s share when compared to America.
