Clinton and Stewart

The former president tells Jon Stewart about his new book, his wife’s quest to get back to “the best public housing in America,” why he might slit his throat if she’s successful, and how naps can save our democracy.

Part One:

Part Two:

Check out Chris Hedges’ take on Clinton’s new book, “Giving.”

Why is it that Hillary Clinton is the front-runner?  It has to be simple nostalgia for the pre-Bush years.  Or maybe its based on something more Pavlovian, like name recognition.  Either way, we desparately need someone as left-leaning as Bush is right.  Kucinich personifies everything the left wants.

Read a TD article on his book

> Bill Clinton has written a new book. It is called “Giving: How Each of Us Can Change the World.” He will give a portion of the proceeds to
> charity. Giving, the former president informs us, gives us fulfilment in life and is “the fabric of our shared humanity.” His book is the political equivalent of “Marley & Me” It is filled with a lot of vapid, feel-good stories about ordinary and wealthy Americans setting out to make the world a better place. It smacks of the philanthropy-as-publicity that characterized the largesse of the robber barons — the Mellons and the Rockefellers — and has become a pastime for our own oligarchic elite. Clinton’s call for charity is the equivalent of well-scrubbed prep school students spending a day in a soup kitchen, doling out food to the people whose jobs were outsourced by their mommies and daddies. It does little to alleviate suffering. But it is a balm to the conscience of the oligarchic class that profits handsomely from the impoverishment of the working class, globalization and our anti-democratic corporate state. The rich love to dine out on their own goodness…..

These 2 high definition phonies are just that. Irrespective of party, they’re really no different than the contrived stage prop Guliani - they’re phonies for All the q&a;they didn’t address.

Enough with the so called “front” runners already. Let’s hear more about Paul, Gravel, Kucinich and anyone else with a brain that has realistic ideas rather than empty promises the cartoon characters we call our politicians belch up every now and then to grab a headline.
Face it folks this country’s past being broke. Nine trillion in debt and growing every day. I want to know what the hell is going to be done about it.
I don’t hear one so called “front” runner even mention the national debt. They must all agree with Bu$h’s - No child left a dime - plan. These irresponsible scumbags are not only ruining the country now, they’re extending it well into future generations. They should all be in jail.

Get that bum off the stage. Put on Kucinich. Put on Mike Gravel.

Holy crap Truthdig, times a wasting. Play cartoons if you can’t find anything pertinent. All we get every day is Bill and Hillary and Guiliani and Biden and all the other lifetime political shills whose only agenda, only agenda is service of the controlling elite.

As far as Stewart goes, take a break. Drop some acid or something to get your synapses snapping again. The entire political/media 24 hour barrage is nothing but a charade as Mike Gravel has correctly pegged it. And thousands of people are dying for the sake of that sickening charade. The Republicans have their heads up their ass and say they like it that way. The Democrats have their heads up their ass and say, oh my, we can’t find our way out. What a pile of crap.

Try anarchy Truthdig. Try revolution. Hell, if nothing else, do the opposite of what the “majority” is doing. Better to go down fighting with blood all over you. Better to bite the throat of your attacker and stuff your thumb in their eye socket then to go limp and try to see it their way. Freaking liberals piss me off worse than shit for brain neocons.

Unfortunately Bill Clinton doesn’t give any more of a damn about the working man then does Bush. His NAFTA and free trade policies were a betrayal of his Democratic base and the common man in this country.

His silence on the immoral and illegal Iraq war until very recently has been deafening, and the only reason we’re hearing from him now is to push his book and support his corporatist-leaning wife’s bid for the presidency.

Until he is willing to stand up and tell the American people the real story about corporate domination of the government he is nothing but a loose-flyed hypocrite…

Just go away and STFU Bill!

Bill Clinton will be exactly what this country needs after the last 8 years, especially without the burden of the Oval Office.  He is just the person to start to rebuild world respect for this great country.  Why the right wing crazies can’t stand the sight of him is too funny.  Why are they so afraid of people with forward thinking ideas and the ability to see the other side of an issue.  The sooner the Rep party rids itself of the sheep and sheep hearders that dictate their every thought and action, the better for all of us, they are so irrelevant…....
