Laura Bush

Laura Bush misplaces a “t” in this clip that makes you wonder if she gets her news from bubble gum wrappers. Not to beat up on the first lady, but seriously, if you forget what one of the most talked-about events of the last two years is called, don’t just make something up.

In answer to Mike Zimmer who blames Laura’a mental relapse on old age…..
SHE AIN’T THAT OLD.
The lapses of memory that you speak of are more likely to occur in the seventies.
But she might be experiencing the dreaded Bush disease of arrogant apathy.

If they had not pacified those kids in the background to just be props, it would have been funny as hell to see one of them openly correct this bumbling idiots mispronunciation of the word KATRINA.

“It’s Ka-Trina, beeiitch. You ‘spose to be the president’s wife? You sho’ is dumb. Take dis ice cream back, I’m going to school.”

Years later, that same kid will be graduating from one of the most prestigious universities; motivated by the same courage it took to correct the first lady’s mispronunciation of the word KATRINA.

Somehow it would be comforting to find out for sure that she’s on meds….
She’s not just the First Lady; she’s been a public schoolteacher and literacy advocate. Who do these people think they are kidding?

It has nothing to do with intellect and everything to do with heartlessness. She may as well have said, “Let them eat cake!”

I lay in a hospital bed, having lost my second child and I wept for myself, my lost baby and all those poor, poor, helpless people holding onto rooftops and begging for help.

And this heartless b….. can’t even remember the name of the storm and say it properly?

Get off the Xanax Laura and wake the f*** up.

This obtuse vacuous woman is the perfect mate for her idiot husband. The comment she made at the Mn. bridge disaster about “God smiling on the school bus ” in which all the children survived made me want to hurl. Why the hell didn’t her God smile on the souls that died a horrible death at the bottom of the river? I guess her God is like the Roman emperors who gave either a thumbs up for life and thumbs down for death. The bitch is as stupid as she sounds.

Laura Bush cares about this nation just about as much as her husband.  That is “diddly squat”.  All either one of them care about, along with the Bush clan is that they reap and rape millions of dollars from the backs of the poor and those who have no voice.  The Bush family is the most heinous, fearsome, powerful family in the U.S.  They make La Cosa Nostra look like a bunch of boy scouts.

If she truly made the same mistake shortly after Katrina, then I would say that the whole Bush family shares the same sociopathic tendencies. Babs showed her “let them eat cake” observation when the poor were residing in the squalor of the dome. Dad had no clue what a supermkt scanner was. An older brother of clueless W profited from and shared in the scam of the S&L fiasco. Jeb helped to disenfranchise blacks guilty of misdemeanors. Now Laura, not even a blood relative, is even clueless about the Katrina victims. And the twins are a chip off the old blockhead?

What is so scary about this clip is she made this same mistake the week after the hurricane hit New Orleans. I remember sending an email to Keith Olbermann when it happened.

It makes you wonder:

a.) Is this how disconnected the White House is from reality? Do they really not have someone monitoring the national news?

b.) Has Karl Rove found some advantage for Republicans in having the first family appear to actually not care about black people?

c.) Is the first family not just politically, but literally deaf?

I’m NOT one to stick up for Smily Laura, but I thought by the way she said it twice, and corrected herself the second time, “Kat -  er,  Corina,”  that maybe she was asked not to use the use the word.  It looks like a library or child care facility, which might have a “Corina” policy for the sake of the kids.

I’d appreciate not hearing “katrina” all day, if I were a child affected and recovering.

•  Pickles’ brain is damaged from drinking koolaid all these years.
The Bush White House just winds her up ships her off whenever they need a friendly face to dispatch to a disaster like the Minneapolis bridge collapse and like a blow-up doll with her mouth open, she just sits there, and babels cliches and bon mots to the little people.
Christopher,
This is exactly what it boils down do. She was long ago Stepfordized, and the Prozac and Jack just do the maintenance. Note that she never made a trip to NO, (or anyplace else that Katrina or Rita demolished) and that the moron only went a week later, and never bothered to land or get out of his 747. No reason for her to know how to pronounce it, and she apparently saw no reason to refresh herself on any of the details, before making this appearance. (whoever does her programming obviously didn’t think it was important either).

So, while we all have these “memory” lapses, (including me) this one isn’t quite the same, and so it proves the point. She’s a windup. Maybe she needs a new battery.

Laura married George didn’t she? That says it all. She shares his values; love of money, power, and no empathy for anyone outside her economic circle.
This woman ‘and I use the word loosely,’ more often than not walks 10 paces behind the shrub..like a little subservient puppy.
Laura should take the time to learn her lines before she steps in front of the camera. It is ‘Katrina’ your ladyship…Then again the shrub can’t speak and yet some fools put him in the White house.

It is a horrible thought, but it came immediately to mind. It sounded like she said ‘Corrina’. Is that not a common African American name? Could it be that the people she hangs around with call it Corrina, rather than Katrina, on purpose as some sort of sick reference to the people who were affected by the hurricane? I hope not

Get a life. I despise Bush and his cabal with a passion, but when someone has a memory lapse, and fumbles a word, even twice, it means nothing. Middle aged people often do it. I do it. I wish I didn’t, but it is the nature of the mind to have these sorts of drop outs from time to time. They increase with age for many of us, perhaps all of us.

Laura Bush is not from a poor family, why do you think Momma Bush told son to marry her, certainly not a love match.

And being from the south maybe she just thinks that everything belongs to us the blue bloods of old New England, you know old money and all.

re: I wonder if there is any subject too trivial for discussion on this site.

The fact that the first lady dosen’t even know the name of the biggest natural disaster to hit america is hardly a trivial matter…the whole point is, that obviously she and her idiot husband must have hardly if ever even discussed the matter and apparently were determined to remain oblivous. The bu$h dynasty is made up of the worst kind of selfserving individuals without any conception of what day to day problems the average american faces. They have consistantly only added to that pile. It is one hell of an indicator, as if we needed another, that the people running our country have an agenda that dosen’t include doing anything for the vast majority of americans. Their interest and energy is geared towards helping themselves and their rich bedfellows / corporations at all the rest of our expense. If we had a free & open press then these people would be labelled for what they are, traitors to our nation, doing more damage to our nation, our democracy,  with each passing week thru their decisions then Bin Laden could ever hope to do. Calling the subject trivial only labels you as just as callous as they are, and makes you a part of the problem.

What a surprise…another Bush family member oblivious reality and the plight of average folks below their economic station in life.I seem to remember her mother-in-law “Babs” commenting during the first few days of the Katrina disaster that the folks being forced to stay in the Astro-dome as having it pretty good, atleast as good if not better then their former homes that had just been destroyed. The total lack of empathy runs thru-out these people…how else could they support the destructive policies they do ?
