Leahy

Bush lackey Scott Jennings gives Sen. Pat Leahy the broken-record treatment, which has become so familiar. Witness Leahy’s frustration break as Jennings refuses even to describe his duties: “Let’s not be too contemptuous of this committee. ... You work at the White House. You’re paid for by taxpayers. You work for the American people. I’m just asking you what kind of work you do.”

•  Lefty, you need to stop that sort of posting.  You sound like a DoJ employee playing at provocateur in order to get the website shut down.
To readers here who haven’t seen elsewhere the kind of posting done on this thread by “Lefty”, it is a common tactic of FReepers who invade online discussions to discredit those they regard as enemies.
===================
Ed Roberts,

Thank you for the reminder on such “posters” as Lefty. We actually have more than just him or her. There are a few, though I can honestly say that after reading the posts of these folks, (over a period of months) I’m inclined to believe that they may be one and the same, (or at least only a handful, with multiple screen names). Still, it can be very annoying. The only reason that at least I have never made any “formal” complaints, is because of the whole free speech thing, and the fact that we DO have this Internet, that is supposed to be free from the kind of monitoring and censorship that has grown by leaps and bounds in the past several years. So, I pretty much figure they have a right to post, just as I do, and just as everyone else does.

Besides that, I think that for the most part, these boards are fairly well “self-monitored”. When somebody gets totally crazy, (like lefty, godsend, inherit the wind, wavelength, and a few others we haven’t heard from in a while) we can usually respond accordingly. STILL, your points are to be well heeded, and I have made it a point to remind our younger posters, (including my own) that posters like these are to be regarded with a great deal of caution, because of exactly what you’ve reminded us of. Besides, it’s just as well for them to understand this early, (especially in these times) so that they can defend themselves against such mindsets, because we can’t control that. We cannot keep them (the lurkers and the intellectual perverts) out of this very public cyberspace. So, it’s better to be exposed to it I suppose, then to be surprised by it later on.

As for this:
•  Calling for the impeachment of criminal politicians and bureaucrats is a perfectly valid exercise of our inalienable right to free speech.  Urging the use of violence for political purposes is reprehensible and may even be criminal in itself.
Urging the use of violence for political purposes IS in fact criminal, and has always been. But now, it’s even more “criminal” than ever, which is very frightening, because now the president has the power to claim that ANY statement is a call for political violence, even when it isn’t. The right would have those of us calling for impeachment – locked up, or worse.

According to Chris Hedges and BIFPAT, Scott Jennings is a zionist, neocon, AIPAC corrupted, interloper!
++++++++++++++++
Lefty, did you listen to the guy? He’s 29 years old, the accent is a dead give-away to any sophisticated concept of Zioism. He’s not that smart.

In short, he’s a political flunky. In that respect, I guess you could call him a second generation neocon. But he’s not important enough for all of those other descriptions.

Lets do it the french way, Man the barricades. introduce them to miss guillotine, Start the revolution. It makes me mad every time I hear about big corporations corrupting our politicians, not paying taxes, [off shore banking] out sourceing jobs, setting government policy through corrupt or illegal lobbying. Foreign governments setting U.S. policys through lobbying, and intimidating our elective officials. I could go on and on.  We need a government for the people, not for special interest. Up against the wall, off with their heads. Man the barricades, start the revolution. The french had to adjust theie government. That may be the only way out of this mess for us. The tree of liberty from time to time needs the blood of tyrants and patriots alike. It is its natural manure.

This comment by Dale Headley puts as well as can be said! You’re right-on Dale!

“This is just one scene in an epic struggle for the soul of America and its democratic institutions.  If the Congress caves in and allows the Bush Administration to get away with all the patently illegal things it has been doing, we might as well eliminate the legislative and judicial branches of government and declare ourselves a military dictatorship.  It will mean that this country deluded itself with a 231 year experiment in democracy in the interim between the reigns of “Crazy old” King George and “incompetent nincompoop” King George.”

What he (Dale) said! Double!

•  ...“This prick is just unbelievable.
He couldn’t give Senator Leahy a description of his JOB? He’s an attorney! Lawyers have a time-honored reputation for being gifted in the art of linguistic forensic deception and obfuscation.”...

Oh RAGE, you have so articulated my thoughts, and in such entertaining fashion. I had to laugh. He IS unbelievable, but only in the typical rabbit hole existence that has been the “theme” of this regime for the past 7 years.

And, this is just too hysterical…

•  Big Dog strung Ken Starr and company out for weeks, literally conjugating the ‘to be’ verb with floral erudition.

Oh Lordy….it’s so true, but that’s because Big Dog actually was and is – a LAWYER!! These guys are just not!! They are, as you said…UNBELEIVEABLE, at least in the reality that the rest of us live in.

Meantime, this really was the best this moron could come up with, and he had to keep referring to his NOTES, just to take the 5th!!!

Now that I think about it, how do we know this guy is actually an attorney? They say he’s an “aide” and a “political director” (probably of the Karl Rove chain of command would be my guess) but there’s really nothing that I’ve read or heard, that actually puts a license to practice law among his credentials. If he does have such a thing, I’m making a bet he’s a product of the same faux institution that put out the likes of Monica Goodling and others. I can’t remember the name of the place now, but it’s Pat Roberts’ “law school” and they’ve created their own species of “lawyers” that now control these institutions.

So, against that backdrop, (down the rabbit hole) this is all perfectly “believable”.

The rest of us are in a lawless land.

Meantime, you’ve got in on the money here as well:

•  ....“And, what’s with these DEMS? It’s obvious these REPUGS are all C-Students crooks and worse. Why haven’t the DEMS flogged these jerks mercilessly already? There is absolutely NO question to Repug guilt and corruption. The whole GOP is low-hanging fruit ripe for jail!!! So, what’s up with these flaccid spineless DEMS? Were the tables turned, the Repugs would have interred every DEM they could catch at Guantanamo as an enemy combatant by now. What is the problem, Democrats?”...

What can I say? This is the saddest part of all. The Dems have so far failed to do their job. The Congress has been our last defense against a full out dictatorship. And, some of THEM – actually ARE lawyers. They’ve dropped into the rabbit hole as well.

That says, we’re screwed.

This prick is just unbelievable.

He couldn’t give Senator Leahy a description of his JOB? He’s an attorney! Lawyers have a time-honored reputation for being gifted in the art of linguistic forensic deception and obfuscation. Great Day! Bill Clinton ran ‘em around the stump in circles for days, just debating the transitive tenses of BEING during his trip to the woodshed. Big Dog strung Ken Starr and company out for weeks, literally conjugating the ‘to be’ verb with floral erudition. Senator Leahy only asked this jack-off for a general description of daily duties. Just somewhat of an account of how he spent his days in the US Justice Department during the time in question. Simple yes or no queries that could have been easily embellished with broad-stroke details that said NOTHING useful with encyclopedic intelligence. The fancy bull duty only lawyers can give! And, pleading the 5th was the best this prick could do?

And, what’s with these DEMS? It’s obvious these REPUGS are all C-Students crooks and worse. Why haven’t the DEMS flogged these jerks mercilessly already? There is absolutely NO question to Repug guilt and corruption. The whole GOP is low-hanging fruit ripe for jail!!! So, what’s up with these flaccid spineless DEMS? It seems like the democrats are attempting to pile all of the “executive privlege” claims into a heap and attain critical mass, rather than pursue each individually.

The congress can really go no further within the framework of committee meetings, they need to take the executive branch to court in order to contest these claims.  The question becomes: what will the judiciary do?  The judicial branch usually draws the line on seperation of powers (regardless of the political persuasion of justices in most cases), because it wants to protect its own turf.  Even Nino Scalia is fond of telling the exec to stay out of the judiciary’s business.

For now, I think the Dems are content to gain political points be illustrating the abject lawlessness of the administration.  It’s also difficult for them to remove someone from office, when they know that they will never get an acceptable replacement in nomination from the white house - and that the president would probably sneak in his unsatisfactory appointments in recess.

Hardly seemed like Leahy was snapping at the Bushie…...the minion seemed to get away with it at the advice of his snivelling lawyer beside him. We have reached a point where the whole of the executive branch is above the law. Our democracy is broken untill we drag these criminals out of the white house and indict them for the crimes the continue to commit each day..while our joke of a press covers the latest celebrity car wreck.

I think you nailed it with this comment:

“Perhaps the Democrats have their eye on the same type of power when they next control the Presidency.”

The Democrats are allowing a foundation to be laid and it appears a noose around the necks of those in this administration is not a part of that foundation.

Why? Because they intend to follow through with what this administration has started.

Gonzales must be impeached. When people see that impeachment is the cure, not the disease, then we can IMPEACH DICK CHENEY and shine a little light into the White House shadows.

We the people should take a second look at every person that has been nominated for any post during this treasonous administration’s tenure. That especially includes Samuel Alito who never should have been confirmed to serve on the Supreme Court and the “loyal Bushies” who are in our justice department and deciding cases right now that affect our civil liberties and the future of our Constitution.

I resent that my tax dollars pay the salary of this young loyal liar.

The actions by these white house lackies goes beyond “Executive Priviledge”.

They are in fact running a criminal enterprise out of the White House.

What part of, You must impeach do you not understand Senator Leahy.

As far as these witnesses are concerned you and all the rest of the Legislative branch are a joke.

If a Democratically held Legislature can’t curb the White house as mandated in the Constitution we are all in big trouble.

Perhaps the Democrats have their eye on the same type of power when they next control the Presidency.

We must demand a return to the balance established by the founding fathers in the Constitution. Without that balance there is no America Land of the Free.

Did any of us ever believe we would see American born citizens hold our Constitution in such low esteem. It is treasonous.

Thanks jbart, and hi to you as well. This is really something, eh? Pretty damn amazing, to see them, one after the other, after the other, refuse to answer something that basic. AND, have to keep referring to his little note, just to keep reciting the same 5th, and stumbling on that.

It’s like vet240 said about Rumsfeld’s testimony, and it suits all the others as well…

“They go to “testify” with the lies they have, not the lies they WISH they had”...

Thank vet240 for that one.

I find it ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE that, in case after case, THEY refuse to answer direct questions. Even those that are, simply, basic questions. “What do you do”? or “What is your role”? in decisions that are made?? I would think the “What do you do”? one is easy to answer. “My position is, ...?  “My role/position, that I get paid for is…..”?
There are VERY few people I know that would have a problem with either answer. What do I do”? A simple job description would suffice. “What was my role”? I participated to the extent my job duties required. What’s so hard about that? Could I be sent to the “hoosegow” for those answers? The answer, at least for those simple questions, is NO !!!  Talk about a total stonewall.
And, the Cheney (BTW- Margaret’s Chaney ...I love you for your continued “intentional” mispelling of the bastard’s name is priceless) ” I CAN’T/DON’T RECALL” B.S. is expected. That a-hole is a good example of the stereotypic person who exibits all the properties of the “darker-side” of the “Human Condition”. The primary “reason” that Utopias will always fail.
BTW- The Jews are “right up there” in that classification. (I felt the need to throw that in there) smile  Hello, Lefty, ITW, Lilzamer, etc. Come on, join in to spout your “ugliness” and, surreal support, of the “CHOSEN”.
FYI- I was just “checking in” saw the B.S., had to comment, and wanted to say hello to Cyrena, Robert, Louise, and the rest of the “thinkers” on the site.
