Fox News is out to smear the blogosphere with a slew of unsavory tactics, such as comparing liberal bloggers to the Klan and Nazi Germany. It has already met with some success, prompting JetBlue to pull its sponsorship from the YearlyKos convention.

Fox News=propaganda. We all know this to be true.

I love the right attacking bloggers and being dismissive of them. It illustrates they are the opposite of progressive, which is regressive. Not just conservative, but actually regressive!

The right have spread their message of hate and intolerance from the pulpit and the radio via their talk monopoly. Thats old tech. We buried them in ‘06, and we’’ll do it again in ‘08 via the blogosphere if we don’t let up and fight back when we take a low blow.

You Tube is basically a video blog and it put Webb in the Senate. The Daily show reachs our young people and they are overwhelmingly turning Dem.

We can’t take anything for granted. Just keep revealing lie after lie that comes from Fox, Rush,Coulter, Malkin and others of their ilk!

I blog in four countries - some for social reasons and some for political and social issues. All are more or less in the English language although it might not be the first language of some of the commenters. Its a great way to interact globally - and yet on a personal level.

By dismissing the power and importance of bloggers they are dismissing the ability of regular people and the masses to have a voice and a say in the modern day political process.  Bloggers have been extremely successful in getting their voices heard and bringing attention to issues that otherwise would not have received attention.  Without bloggers the current movements to end global climate change, fight global poverty, or get the troops out of Iraq would not have as strong of a voice or as much popular support as they do.

Irate Mo Fo says:

“FOX doesn’t care what you think - in fact they prefer that their audience NOT think.

“They don’t care __as long as you watch.

“Their business is selling advertising. They make money by delivering viewers (you) to be exposed to advertising messages from corporations who pay based on number of exposures.”

Irate Mo Fo...You are absolutely correct.

Yet the essence of the problem is that almost ALL media news is designed with precisely the same goal: to sell advertising. CBS News, NBC News, ABC News, CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News (the biggest culprit of all) gain far more viewers -and thus, advertising dollars, if the public is entertained, rather than informed.

Witness the “embedding of journalists” at the outset of the Iraq War. Screw any deep or meaningful dialog regarding the NEED to go to war in the first place. There’s more entertainment value (and thus, a wider audience and more corporate profit) in pushing the “shock and awe” angle versus the “what the hell are we doing going into this war?” angle.

That, at the onset of war in 2003, the majority of Americans believed Iraq had direct links to the events of 9/11 is testimony not just to the manipulative skill of our current corrupt administration but to the utter failure of our media to expose this manipulation and corruption. The media’s role as informers or educators took a back seat - as usual - to their more profitable role as entertainers.

Just a correction to your story. Jet Blue did NOT pull out from the Daily Kos Convention.  They just asked that the company logo be removed from the convention site.  The donated gifts of airline tickets to the convention remain.  SO really once again OReilly accomplished NOTHING.

Meanwhile the left has started asking sponsors if they really want Fox news and is shows to represent its products, it seems as if Lowes has decided Fox news it not up to their standards, good for them.

If Fox wants to go after KOS, does it really think going after HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of informed AMERICANS is a good idea?

Arawak made the comment that now they are quoting bloggers. I learned from the local FAUX NOISE radio station here in Seattle that they really don’t “quote” bloggers. For example, they stated that Daily Kos posted an anti-troop post. I thought I knew Kos better than these noisemen, so I checked it out. Sure enough, they lifted a comment that was on the site, and it wasn’t from Kos either. Not only did they leave out the attribution, giving the impression it was Kos, but they also butchered the comment itself, making it say something it didn’t. They also left out the follow up post, from the same commenter (Oacham’s Razor) that apologized for his acerbic statement.

Now I think we all know that pointing these things out to these noise reporters will get one banned from their fairly unbalanced web sites.

I post to Townhall.com, which doesn’t yet practice that tactic. It’s also a free site, with articles by such luminaries as Ann Coulter, Ken Blackwell, David Limbaugh, Micheal Medved, Rep. Boehner, and many others. You can find not only the unquestioned support for failed conservatism, but the same vitriol you find on any paid web site.

I say we invade them. Know your facts, your logic, your history, and start posting. They’ll either continue to marginalize themselves and ban us, or thewy’ll start to see where conservatism fails in it’s current form, and start thinking for themsleves. You won’t find many good discussions there, but on occasion it will happen and be worth it.

I guess the fact that the Fox News commentators are quoting ‘left wing’ blogs now, rather than ignoring them and dismissing them as they did in the past, means that those bloggers are now on the radar.
I have watched quite a few clips of Bill O’Reilly et al, and it amazes me that large parts of the US actually beleives these people.
On the other hand, a lot of people outside the US cannot beleive that Fox News is one of the main sources of news, and most of them are humoured by the fact that these ‘so called ‘ jounalists’ can say what they say and still keep a straight face.
Admitidly there are instances of bad language on these blogs, but it is only a distraction, and most of the content are thoughtful comments. anyhow, people in the US are passionate and concerned about the way this current administration are running things, so they will let off some steam.

More and more people are turning to blogs, more so than those on the right wing (why should they, they have the mainstream media to spoon feed them), should make for interesting viewing come election time.

FOX doesn’t care what you think - in fact they prefer that their audience NOT think.

They don’t care __as long as you watch.

Their business is selling advertising. They make money by delivering viewers (you) to be exposed to advertising messages from corporations who pay based on number of exposures.

What YOU think of the programming which fills the time between ads is meaningless to them. In their business model the controversial, the salacious and the outrageous lie seem to draw more viewers because many viewers ‘like’ to get a low level emotional buzz from that type of garbage. It’s a cheap high for many people.

IF you don’t like the programming FUX presents… Don’t patronize their channel - since it is number of views which directly correspond to how much they can charge their corporate ‘sponsors’ for ad time.

Additionally, and along the same lines… their star trained baboon, Shrill O’Really, suffers from a severe personality disorder which causes him crave attention… “any” atttention, as long as HE is the center of it. Consequently he will say the most outrageous things to be controversial because he desires more and more attention. If you don’t like him - ignore him - THAT hurts him the most, not only from an economic perspective but on a personal level.

Eff o’really = he’s just a sick, demented old fool - instead, do something interesting and fun with the time you might have wasted on his insane nonsense.

Life’s to short to waste on idiots.

I was most humored by their utter consternation with the appallingly bad language used in these insipid liberal tirades. I experienced the same dismay when our Vice President invited a Senator to go, er, uh, fornicate himself in his outside voice on the Senate floor, LIVE on C-SPAN, no less.

I do have to admire this bunch for their vivid imaginations though. That, or I’ll have to start envying their superlative drug connections. Only a great imagination or outstanding connections to the best bud grown conclusively brings a writer to deliver the tabloid tomfoolery brought to us by the FAUX NOISE organ. Even more gifted is the FAUX NOISE marketing force who secures sponsors for this incredulous buffoonery. They have brought us coverage of the war on Christmas, sanctimoniously nailing Santa to the Cross of Christ. In contrast to that, though we’ve also observed their war on the environment, people of color, anyone whose views are not in faithful reich-synchronization with Bush43 doctrines, the victims of Hurricane Katrina for being too poor, and the families of 9/11 victims for their daring to question the integrity of their government. They think science is an elitist philosophical hoax that the government ought to publicly displace with faith-based absolutes. They have dismissed progressive thinking as the dangerous ranting of the radical fringe raging despotically against the Divine Providence of the American way. They hatefully smear everyone they fear without proper investigation or objective intuitive review. They are obsessed with sex. And, they hypocritically protect and justify the crime and iniquity of their own, no matter how badly their own have offended us with their callous felonious indifference. Keep in mind that this is the same knavish outfit who asked how Dick Cheney was faring after he shot a 78 year old man in his face at close range with a shotgun DRUNK!

They kind of remind me of playing peek-a-boo with my toddler niece who thinks just because she’s covered her eyes, you’re unable to see her. See, we’re not supposed to be able to see or respond to their neolithic asininity. The fact is that Ray Charles, from his grave sans his shades, can see the obtuse poverty of intellect demonstrated through the thick-headed antics of the of Loofah Man and the rest of the Murdock minions. When the crap becomes too deep for me to tolerably wade through, I most certainly do blog these idiots within inches of their lives, followed by my boycotting the services and products of their misled sponsors. Just like my little niece when I tell her I really can see her, they throw a wicked tantrum to exude their callow recalcitrance at my refusal to feign blindness and idly play along with their little ruse. Well, my little niece just turned 2 years old last October. The baby expects our humble deference to her wisdom as the empirical center of all universal erudition. The FAUX NOISE organists have no excuse though, at least, not that one. These oafish irritants have been crudely delusional for as long as Murdock has had his fist up the corporation’s anus. When considering the detriment and mischief wrought from this egotistical fatuity mindlessly perpetrated in daunting support of Bush43 imperialistic hegemony, these pinheads really ought to thank and praise the Lord we haven’t publicly assailed them worse than this anywhere else beyond the safety of the world wide web. Furthermore, I have to wonder: if they can’t endure a digital beat-down on the virtual curbside along the information super highway from a few annoyed fellow Americans, how do they presume they’re going to hold up in a confrontational altercation with al Qaiada or the Taliban?

Unlike the pope, I have an erasure on top of my pencil. Despite this handicap, I believe that the British have virtual control over the media and what they want you to know. I believe the Fox station is their flagship station for TV. The NY Times is their flagship newspaper source. Their flagship magazine is the Times. One indication that made me suspicious is the presentation for Arnold Schwarzenegger in all of the media including the above always referred to him as Schwarzenegger. This name sounds foreign to most Americans and to adjust this anomaly all of the media started to call him Arnie. Somebody might have been grooming Arnie to be the second coming of Reagan. The incriminating factor was all of the media almost simultaneously began calling him Arnie. This indicates to me that they were all reading off the same page of instructions at the same time.

Okay, folks, if your stomach is strong enough, try this:

Go to Debbie Schlussel’s web site. Read her own posts, if you can bear it. Then, hold your nose and look at her readers’ commentary.

Then, try posting a reasoned comment that contradicts her viewpoint. Your comment will be taken down in a day or so. The obscene, nauseating comments by right-wing racists will remain there. This I guarantee. I’ve done it myself.

Now, should we pass some law preventing Debbie Schlussel from operating her sickening web site? Absolutely not. She makes a fool of herself every day--let her continue doing so.

You get stupid, obscene commentary on both left and right blogs, but I think the right-wing sites are far worse. This makes Fox’s efforts against left wing blogs all the more silly.

Bill O’Reilly most certainly is not a journalist ... never has been, never will be. Like Ann Coulter, he is one of those folks who will sell their soul to the highest bidder. Then spew any crap their owner is paying them to spew.

That really is what he is all about folks. He really doesn’t care whether we are, or not at war, have, or don’t have a repub or dem idiot running the country. It’s all totally irrelevant.

The only things that matter to people like him are the ratings and the pay-check! It helps that there are a lot of classless people who spend their lives in front of the boob-tube getting turned on by watching sewer overflow. As long as they’re there, Bill will always have an audience. But thinking people don’t like watching non-thinking people yell and start fights. If someone wants to watch that crap, there’s always “professional” wrestling.

His attacks on the bloggers are like the Bully screaming from inside the prison wall. We can hear the creep, but he’s safely locked away where he cant hurt us. So I say, lets stop giving the sell-out attention! He can spend an extra hour in front of the mirror every day to satisfy his ego, and as long as corporate media leans to the fascist side he will always have a paycheck.

Speaking of fascist. Obviously Bill is not as informed and educated as he likes to believe he is. Otherwise he would understand what a fascist is, look in the mirror and exclaim, “Oh my gosh, that’s me! I’m a fascist!”

This is actually an old tactic. Back in the sixties there were a lot of underground papers, and their main revenue source was record company ads that of course had a great market to advertize their product to.

The powers that were understood this as well, and they decided to stop the press by leaning on the record companies Many of those papers dried up and went away, and hence the pre-net source of info for the movement.

A great read about these times is Ed Sanders “1968: A History in Verse.”

It seems that those “liberal journalists” from Fox want us to return to reading paper newsprint .....with their pontifications alone appearing. The idea that someone then comments - possibly more intelligently - on their story frightens them. Thus they avoid blogs at the foot of the page online or publish ‘selected comments only’ to please themselves and only if they can be bothered.

Such tyrrany in neither freedom of speech or serving the customer. Why else do they think we are blogging here instead of fawning over them?!?!

Hey Bill O’Reilly!!!!  Did not you settle a SEXUAL discrimination lawsuit?  And when YOU get frustrated, don’t YOU start screeching “SHUT UP”???

People start using bad language when they get frustrated.  Take “Fuck you” Dick Chaney on the Senate floor for example.

I am a Republican who has become disgusted with this administration’s ways.  I do not like strutting cowboys.  The leaders of this nation have lead us into a STUPID war.  And that includes ANYBODY that voted to give our cowboy leader the authority to use force to invade another country who, at the time, was no threat to the U.S.

Yes, Fox News, people are using every devise to “Swiftboat” this administration that they can to bring it down.  And that includes bad language.  You all at Fox News seem to think bad language, yes and even a blow job in the back room, is worse than our young men and women dying in an illegal war.

Bill O’Reilly!!! Is that why you settled your SEXUAL discrimination lawsuit so the public would not hear the filthy language you were spewing out to that woman?

And let’s not forget the Iraqis who are dying as a result of this war.  A war started by President Bush with the backing of the likes of you!

From a disgusted Republican, sincerely, “I did NOT vote for Bush”, Don Stivers

AND, let’s all vote for Nancy Sheehan to get Impeachment is off the table Pelosi out of office.

Republicans AND Democrats are spineless.  Well, not all of them.  Kucinich and Obama did not vote to give Bush authority to start a war.  I give them MUCH credit for that.  It is tooooooo late for you H. Clinton who went along with George.

Sorry!!!  I’m frustrated!!!!  Bring our men and women home now and let the Iraqis start over--without the U.S. in the way.
