thriller

Filipino prisoners feel the “funk of forty thousand years” and perform with eerie skillfulness the entire music video for Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” In case you needed it, this is further proof that the world remains a very strange place. A must-see, especially on a Friday. (Via BoingBoing)

First of all, they are not forced and this is not a punishment, this is just a simple flag ceremony routine until they figured out that the inmates would be more disciplined if they do something fun together thus they began dancing.

ANd hello, filipinos know how to speak english even kindergarten kids understands that language.

THIS iS REAL.

Byron F. Garcia, the guy who’s put the video on his YouTube channel, is the director of this prison in Cebu. His sister Gwen is governor of the Cebu province. He’s got so many positive reactions to his videos you can expect him to produce many more of them. Maybe we should persuate him to reenact “Duality” by Slipknot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xps7AM8HbjE
So that the poor marionettes of his longings for internet fame can smash the whole funky prison to pieces. If you know something more about Garcia - please leave a comment at my blog. It’s in German. Sorry.

HELLO Philippines and hello world! Those Western perverts who are shameful of this video are sore losers! You should be very shameful to yourselves, coz this only happens here in PI and yeah WE GOT TALENT. This is impressive and should be looked upon by Americans (especially those perverts) in Abu Graib prison whose only talent is forcing the detainees into sex and slavery!

Oh did I mention we are good English speakers too? America is part of our history.

yep that’s true. CPDRC is just a block away from where I work. Rumor is that the prison will host a production number.
CPDRC has also been quite visible lately. Inmates doing community service and stuff.

There’s no way this is real. I’ve been in the Philippines a few times, and it’s definitely true that they are a very musical and dance oriented culture, but to get this many criminals together to act out the Thriller video seems more than a little far fetched.

This looks too staged to be true. also, if this is the Philippines, why does it say INMATE on the t-shirts? INMATE is an english word last I checked.

I’m a Filipino and all I have to say about this is that I hope I’m not related to any of these people ... especially the lady boy.

These guys must have committed some pretty heinous crimes to be forced to practice this to such perfection. What’s more, the warden must have a sick obsession with the Jackson video.

Now, if Americans can get Federal prisoners to out perform this group, with cheney and bush playing the lead roles (bush as the ladyboy) justice would be served.
