Daily Show Still

“The Daily Show’s” Jon Stewart and John Oliver take down the most recent Democratic disappointment: the Senate’s all-night session. Oliver, political theater critic for the show, gives his most scathing review to date.

Watch video (Political Theater review is video #2)

Jon Stewart: But this is maybe the most scathing review you’ve ever given.

John Oliver: Because this was so derivative! It’s the same old, old story.  America meets war. America gets war. War turns out to be somewhat different than what America thought is was when it first fell in love with war. But now war won’t leave America alone. It’s really just a flabby rehash of 1971’s “Repeal of Tonkin Gulf Resolution.”

<<Everything is fine in Middle America and so the war is nothing more than a bit of reality T.V. >>

Odd statement to make when our troops, and casualties, are largely from middle america.

Calling the Dems Pussies is too polite.

Glad Jon is hammering away at them though.

Jokes about the Dems enabling complicity and co dependency with republicans work better then hurling hateful slurs.

The Stewart - Oliver exchange is right on target.  It is going to take more than one night of “old hat” U.S. Senate theatrics to take down the Republican War Machine.  This war goes on because the average citizen is not demanding it to end.  Everything is fine in Middle America and so the war is nothing more than a bit of reality T.V.  It is interesting to watch for a while, but then, when you are tired you can turn it off and think about something else.
