Kucinich and Gravel

Kudos to PBS for hosting an excellent debate—or “All American Presidential Forum” as it’s known in public television land. The event featured a “panel of color” asking questions on a range of often-ignored topics. And did we mention equal time for all candidates? What a novel concept.

Todd, here is just one alternative (and no, its not communism): http://www.parecon.org/capvsparecon/html/ownership.html

This is how to conduct a debate.  Yudos - You actually get to hear the candidates views on the issues

I agree with all of the stated assessment(s),but what can be done to get Dennis into the forefront of the primaries?.The endorsement(s)of Clinton,Obama, and Edwards is required. Can that support be garnered? If not, what else do you have?A splintered, and fragmented, Democratic party? If they were willing to “go along” with a Kucinich run, and throw all their support behind him, he could win. But, are they Americans first, and politicians second? I wish the former. What this country needs is a unified, “we’re not gonna take it anymore” mentality, if we hope to “reverse” the trends(s) being fostered by Corporate America/World.
In Lennon’s imagine, you can include a longing for America. Imagine we have elected officials that vote/do as they promised us during the election process. “Maybe I’m a dreamer...but I’m not the only one”. To all...keep blogging/commenting, because maybe, just maybe, it will cause others to “wake up” and help us to take back our country.

This was by far the best debate of either the Democrats or Republicans yet! PBS did so much better than FOX, CNN, MSNBC or any of the corporate conservative media has (no surprise there).

I can say I still am far to the Left of most of these Democrats (the Republicans aren’t even on the same planet), but they all did fairly well (except Richardson who I just can’t get behind).

The best by far was still Kucinich and Gravel, but Hillary and Edwards did fairly well, and Obama, Dobbs and Biden were almost as good.

Still, of course, all of them are really just playing politics in the end (though Hillary is really good at it) except Gravel and Kucinich who are more genuine, I think. And of course, Hillary lost on the Darfur question since her husband ignored Rwanda.

While we still have to live with hierarchal democracy (as opposed to inclusive democracy), and while we still have to deal with capitalism (rather than a fair economic system), I would vote for Kucinich (Gravel is too old and will not be taken serious by the conservative Democrats)!

In order of my preference based SOLELY on this debate would be:

Kucinich
Gravel
Clinton
Edwards
Obama
Dobbs
Biden
Richardson

Unfortunately, the Democrats continue to take their eye off the Ball!

In Election 2000 & 2004, Mr. Bush, Mr. Cheney and America’s Wealthy turned the nation into a ‘Banana Republic’ as the Democrats sat on their hands. Once in power, Mr. Bush, Mr. Cheney, the Trilateral Commission & the CFR (Council on Foreign Relations) cooked up the Iraq conflict to rob Iraq of its Oil and Gas and as a COVER to loot 100’s of BILLIONS from taxpayers through tax cuts and 100’s of ‘No-Bid’ contracts for America’s 1 Percenters!

To further confuse and occupy the Dems and most Americans, Bush & Co. are striving to IMPOVERISH 98% of Americans (to their benefit) using Outsourcing, Union-busting, the Supreme Court and Globalization.
With Iraq & Poverty scaring most Americans and the Democrats sitting on their hands, Bush & Co. are robbing America of DEMOCRACY & its Birthright!

Keep your Eye on the Ball, Democrats! It’s going out the door with Bush & Co. as we speak!

It’s interesting that only one candidate actually tried to answer the question on employment that turned into a question on education.  If I heard correctly the question was something along the lines of - why is the unemployment rate of high school graduates from minority groups 33% higher that the unemployment rate of white high school drop outs?
The answers promoted educational programs which if these statistics are correct would result in more educated unemployed.  The answer should have focussed on the workplace, industry, corporations and government.

Thank you so much Dennis for letting me know that there was a culprit who stole my boots. I was reaching always struggling and reaching for them, believing there was something to grab a hold of.

Kucinich is a stand-alone candidate in this run up to the presidency. Although, the media has written him off as a “dud”, his strategies seem to explode with all the right answers to the problems we face in America.

Not Lincoln versus Douglas, but compared to the Republican candidates, they look like giants of statesmanship.
