Jon Stewart charts the administration’s “been there, done that, be back later” approach to fighting the war in Iraq. Plus a look back on operational nomenclature, the September surprise and Ted Koppel’s giant head.

Watch it here.

Last night (6/25/07) Jon Stewart from the Daily Show had an author on who had written a book about
the history of the Pentagon. His name is Steve Vogel and the book is titled
“The Pentagon - A History”.

Towards the end of the interview Jon Stewart starts making fun of those
“crazy conspiracy theories” that a plane didn’t hit the Pentagon and he asked
Mr. Vogel to debunk those theories.

Mr Vogel goes on to say (I’m paraphrasing) that all you have to do is talk to the family members
who died on the plane or in the Pentagon and once you see that reality you know what really
happened.

My jaw just hit the floor!!  UNBELIEVABLE!!!

I don’t have a direct link because it’s a Flash video, but go here and do a search
for the video of Steve Vogel on 6/25/07.

Like many cable subscribers, my conservative wife and liberal I most evenings during the week tape movies and network shows, we watch the ‘Daily Show’ and ‘Colbert Report’. They may be parodies and are often hilarious but most of what they report actually happened in Iraq, the White House, Justice Dept, or Congress. Who needs the real news-I read it on the web, but to get the real scoop, I count on John Stewart. At least he doesn’t claim to be ‘fair and balanced’, and he has no reason to lie about the facts.

Time for a Cost to Benefit analysis.

We’ve sent 10,000 troops, fully equipped, after the insurgents in one area.

To date we have killed 40 some individuals which we have said were insurgents.

I would call this a bad return on our investment.

John Stewart does the service of actually comparing what is said now to what was said then. This makes his comedy more legitimate than all the other “real news.”
