This is a great, new satirical angle on fashion exploitation. I love the US work ethic completely misinterpreted by the parent, “This shows what kids can achieve by hard work”. It’s really quite subversive. The Onion satirises marketing campaigns, fashion and the media all in one. One disappointment though is that Gap really could run a campaign like this. Therefore, I’d have liked this to go one step further and really humiliate those exploiters.

Interesting...why are there only 3 comments?

Do you think everything is okay here in Asia regarding foreign companies?  I assure you it is not okay.  They (western companies; American and European) sell crap here they can’t sell as labeled in their respective countries.  I guess that’s why when I tried to bust a company (with documentation), the supposed watchdogs barely responded and the one time they did I knew it was hopeless and didn’t bother pursuing it.
Yes, this goes further than just business, but who the hell cares?

The Onion shames them all. Even their production quality is better. Everyone else is big on constantly shifting backgrounds (which call attention by their motion but have no content) and saturated blue and red colors (which call attention to themselves but are empy calories, so to speak). The Onion’s work is clean, neat, well thought out, and accomplished.

Having worked in an American toy factory in Asia I personally wouldn’t buy a toy from there.

Don’t think for one minute because it’s an American company everything is okay...it is not!!

I also refuse to by the “swish” in any of it’s many forms.  Exploitation is alive and well.

No offense, but The Onion is late on this one. I’ve been joking about “BKFK” since my son was born seven years ago. I try to shop non-sweatshop but it is very hard, especially for kids clothes. In the end, the ticket is used kids clothes, but they are all Gap or Old Navy.

Still, gotta love The Onion even if they are a bit thin these days.
