On Friday’s “Real Time,” Bill Maher eviscerated the Bush administration for outing Valerie Plame. There are no revelations here, but Maher’s hard-hitting analysis of the scandal will satisfy even the most Plame-exhausted viewer. Warning: HBO language.

The GOP has gotten lazy and stupid. Just look at the prattle posted here by goppers. They NEVER refute, having lost the ability to think logically or critically. Their remaining tactic is to raise the strawman specter of Hilary. YAWN!

Hell, I won’t even vote for Hilary—but Hilary is LIGHT YEARS ahead of ANY Republican and most certainly ANY Republican President since 1980.

The GOP is out of ideas, out of gas, out of its tiny mind.

Here’s a good one—the best this GOPPER could come up with:

i mean, that what all you space-cadets say all over the Internet ??? so, just come out and fly the flag of treason, for 08, and be proud to show it !!!

It is George W. Bush who committed high treason, deliberately lying to the people, the congress, the UN with a pack of malicious, black-hearted lies about WMD, all a pretext to begin a war of naked aggression in violation of the Nuremberg Principles and our own US Codes, Title 18, Section 2441 War Crimes, which prescribes the death penalty for those war crimes resulting in death. What mindless GOP shills fail to understand is that this is not about poilitics Karl Rove style, this is a capital crime. This is a case of mass murder.

Republicans—GET A LIFE! Perhaps, a life is wasted on you! Failing that—get a brain!

EVERY Republican post that I have bothered to read over the last several years has been characterized by every fallacy in the book—ad hominem, strawman, non sequitur, over generalization, and, most notably OUTRIGHT LIES!

Following is a verifiable proposition for which a case can be made in court: the GOP is not a political party. It’s a GOP Crime Syndicate!

GWB is a criminal, and deserves to either be in jail, or face execution for the highest level of treason.

That is the truth bitch.

Besides I highly doubt you are 17.

Elizabeth: By the ponderous weight of the poorly written ill-informed prattle you just took time to writeit appears you are the one who needs to ‘get a life’. As my dead mother used to say, “You are judged by your words.” By your own un-researched dogmatic spew you obviously would hardly have the intellect to objectively analyze the question, “Am I brainwashed?” By your own words you seem to rely more on the pablum you have been trained to regurgitate (from very suspect sources it seems) than use your own powers of critical thinking.

Just to deal with one point in your long un-informative ramble, God didn’t put G W Bush in the Whitehouse, his corrupt political machine did. It managed to have him conspiratorialy annointed king by the Supreme Court in the first election, and there is now overwhelming evidence it manipulated the vote in the second.

It seems to be a common Republican trait/tactic to get sidetracked (or try to sidetrack) from the argument, then slime the messenger, when they have no fact supported stance to take. Then, instead of dealing with the subject at hand (Maher’s rightful provable assertion the Bush administration has committed verifiable treasonous acts) you wander in the field of ‘hot-button’ issues like abortion, God, the bible, end-times, gay issues, etc. Maher’s talk didn’t have anything to do with those issues; it dealt with Bush’s treasonous deceptive behavior, that has cost us untold human & fiscal treasure, international credibility & good will.

Thanks Bill, your piece was patriotically inspired, mainstream thinking, and supported by facts rather than just personal opinion. That it was wryly humorous was a bonus. Keep on keepin’ on!

What the fuck are you talking about?
You only demonstrate your ignorace by posting here.
Jetfuel is kerosene, and it does not burn quickly, especially when there are thousands and thousands of pounds of it burning simultaneously creating a blast furnace environment.  Steel beams don’t “melt” in a fire.  Fire heats the beams and weakens them, steel is very susceptible to bending and failing at connection points when high heat is applied.  This fact about steel is why we heat it when it is being formed, bent, or other wise shaped.  Furthermore the force of the airplanes penitrating the buidings blasted the flimsy “fire protection” off the beams and exposed them to direct contact to the fireball.  YOU don’t know what you are talking about.  You are an idiot.

Badura, try for information.  Jet fuel is similiar to kerosene, burns off quickly. The Twin Towers were not burning very long, then sank.  Same day, building#7 sank, though its plane had not arrived. No other steel beamed skyscrapers before or since sink, or even fall to one side, because fire in the open cannot melt steel beams, and, by the way, these beams are “fire proofed.”  Whatever, boiler conditions are necessary to melt large steel.  Please go learn this somewhere.  The physical world is not what you want, clearly.  Still, is not Cheney crazed enough for you?  Is not W. split enough to allow allow murder even among his own population?  Hey, man, the physics you have been handed do not work.  Like the “pristene bullet,” or Kennedy’s head jerking the wrong way or “my vet says chicken bones can kill a dog,” when a dog is a predator/scavenger, with throat larger and much tougher than mine and I can eat chicken bones easily, cooked or raw.  Hey, if you do not like the physical world, quit taking up space.

Sir, first of all I am neither dilussional nor brainwashed and secondly I don’t know how you could have read “a number of my comments” as I have only posted two. And as usual, it is people like you who are apparently the only ones that are allowed your opinions. Anyone else who has a differing opinion is told to keep quiet and that they are wrong. As for Mr. O’Reilly, just because he isn’t a far left Liberal like most of the people posting on here obviously are, doesn’t mean he is not a Democrat just like myself not being far right Conservative doesn’t mean I am not a Replican. The point being, I have listened to all of the arguements and have made up my own mind unlike most you who are so anti- Bush, anti-Republican, that you are going to believe what you want to believe regardless of the truth. Keep burying your heads in the sand and seeing only what you want to see and before you know it, we will be living in a Socialist nation with absolutely no freedoms or choices and that is what will happen and is happening as I am writing this. What really amazes me is you all think that the 1st Amendment only applies to you. We live in America and if I choose to voice my opinion here like all of you, I am allowed. Deal with it!

First of all the whole event was very news worthy and has been picked over extenivly !! on may cable news and documentary shows, as I said to black olive, tons of jet fuel went into the fires so that’s why the steel melted !!

Every time I come up with an explination to one person (not just here) on a post I get two more with some technicloe question ?? I am not an engineer so I cant answewr your questions but that doesn not mean there is not an answer ??
the fact that you haven’t heard any of this stuff in the main stream-media should fly red-flags to all of you

i ask these simple but very important questions, who, what, were, when, why, over and over and logically, if it did go down, the way you guys say, then your talking about thousands of people, and both parties !! police, military, governments foreign and domestic involved !!

i am not the most moral person, i break rules at times, but if some leader came to me (and I’m not a cop, or in the military any more) but if a leader came to me, and told me to do somin so heinous, i would rat him out or expose him so fast it wouldn’t take 6 yrs and lib-professor’s and the nut-roots to figure it out !!

you guys are talking about almost every institution in out country, and both parties and thousands of people !!! do you realize that ??? its not plausible !!

we cant even get WMD’s in Iraq right, and you think a hand full of spooks could pull this off ???

nuff said !!

You are exactly right, Jeff, there is a lot of misinformation out AND a lot of people who will believe anything someone tells them. I just Googled ‘WTC#7’ and look what came up in the first article—-

“Building 7 was neither hit by an airplane nor, apparently, by heavy fallout from the collapse of either of the Twin Towers. If you believe the official story that it collapsed from fires, it would be the first case in history in which fires induced the total collapse of a steel frame building. Shouldn’t that have been newsworthy, given its implications for building safety and rescue and firefighting operations? Incredibly, it is difficult to find any mention of Building 7 in newspapers, magazines, or broadcast media reports about the September 11th attack.”

How do you explain this, Jeff? Further research would reveal to you that the records for hundreds of investigations into insider stock trading were lost when WTC#7 was demolished. This saved the careers, fortunes, reputations, & asses of numerous very wealthy influential people.

This part of the money trail pales in comparison to the announcement on the day before 911 that the Pentagon was ‘missing’ $2.7 trillion (with a ‘T’) of materials & supplies. Even with our current excessively bloated $700 billion defense budget this represents almost 4 years of TOTAL military spending. What happened to that story/revelation? Where did that money or materials go? Did we just pay for bills of sale to fictitous companies with no actual delivery of product? With a revelation as enormous as that why is it that the Pentagon still has problems showing their books are balanced? Hell, you can’t even writecoherently, so I imagine it is beyond your investigative skills to think you would ever research to find out the unanswered questions remaining extant about the events of 911. There are hundreds (if not thousands) more, but I’m just seeking financial motives for who would gain by the event.

It’s not a pretty picture, but as a truly patriotic American I can’t stick my head in the sand or run away from the truth, regardless of whether it was people from another country or ours that caused the tragedy. Look at the questions above. While you are thinking about them I have one more that is crucial to understanding a major goad to those who don’t accept this administrations explanations about 911.

With the enormous impact 911 has had on our country in blood, treasure, & reputation, why did the Bush administration take a year (after most debris had been shipped away) to initiate the investigation?

I’m willing to listen to your explanations as long as they are factual (not just opinion), objective, and not derogatory.

@ black olive,

you now put the same question on two posts, so against my better judgment ( because its so boring and ridicules) ill answer you question to both Bill, and Jeff Cohen, and who ever else you asked !

the building in question I’m amusing was the 15 some story?? building in Houston last wk ???

i saw it on the news when i got home, and the fire trucks were able to put water up that high, they were able to cool the fire, so the steel did not have time to melt !!

as i told you in my previous explanation, steel melts, its not fire proof !!! there was no way to cool, the fires of the Trade Center Towers, cause they were 80 stories 90 stories high, and started by tons and tons of Jet fuel !!

the building in Houston was not loaded down with tons of jet fuel, and the fire department got to the fire !!

it’s disinformation that feed’s the “9/11 plot” believers, disinformation and plain ignorance of the facts !!!

hope you see this !!

Thank you for having the courage to admit opinions you held years ago about the Viet Nam fiasco & demonstrators were flat wrong. It takes a bigger person to admit mistakes (unlike smallfry Bush) and I applaud your mental/spiritual/historical growth. In no way can I slight you for the way you thought during the Viet Nam era because we were propagandized as much then as now, perhaps (no…definitely) even more so now though. History proves the initiators of ‘false flag’ wars evntually fail as truth is revealed. Such was the case of Hitler’s ‘false flag’ invasion of Poland (after claiming Poland attacked Germany), Johnson claiming we were attacked in the Gulf of Tonkin, and Bush claiming a link between OBL & Iraq then attacking Iraq. All had imperialistic motivations and an ‘ends justifies the means’ mentality. These are the same rationalizations used following WWII to make us fearful of communists, and now used by neo-cons & Zionists to justify any actions in their attempts at world domination. On the moral high ground ‘ends justifies the means’ is an incorrect philosophy, and as any military strategist will tell you one should always take & control the high ground for success.

I’ve read a number of your comments and can’t quite tell if you are brainwashed or just delusional. O’Reilly & Democrat hardly fit in the same sentence unless he is putting them down, or lying, something he does so regularly he can’t tell the difference any longer between lying & truth—-even when confronted with verifiable facts going contrary to his weak slanted opinions.

To: Comment #60472 by Elmo H. Meyers
Concise & to the point, Elmo. As a kid I rallied for Ike as president in 1956, probably the last decent Republican we have had as president since (even with that CROOK Nixon as his VP). I, too, have seen quite a number of chief executives come & go, and there is no doubt this administration is the most to be feared as a threat to democraic principles. You’ll probably remember the line, “Have you no shame sir?” More appropriate today than when spoken to Sen. McCarthy. This whole administration has acted shamefully, and many of them deserve to stand in the docket. HUAC would/should place them at the top of their list as un-American, un-patriotic traitors to America.

Impeachment is necessary but insufficient.

At a minimum, George W. Bush, Richard Cheney, and Alberto Gonzalez must each be referred to an international war crimes tribunal, if for no other reason than to restore the credibility and honor of the US. These men are each in their own way the blackest of tyrants, rivaling Saddam in the acts of butchery, torture, and murder committed on their orders.

Good job Bill.  You told it as it needed to be told.  As an American who still loves my country,in spite of our collective inability to see the light,I appreciate your honesty.I think that you love who we are as much as anybody who has the ability to be an American. The movement to bring “illegals” into our economy is beyond wrong, its disgusting.  We, as Americans, have paid the price (or our predecessors have) to thrive in America.  No one has the right to take that away from us. I applaud Mr. Maher for his continuing lambasting of the Bush-Cheney regime. Our last “King” was Nixon, (a.k.a. smart crook with ego conflicts). But at least THAT crook was smart. They’re (he & DUBYA) both ruthless, but at least “Tricky Dicky” was smart. We, as a country that prides itself on leadership in the international community, have NOTHING to be proud of.  We should feel extreme shame in letting our beloved country fall victim to the “brainwashing” of the masses.  The “Red” states that allowed this imbecile to be our president should have their right to vote curtailed, or taken away.  Imbeciles are also “easily” fooled.  They should not be allowed to be taken advantage of by the “Power Elite”. We b"protect” our retarded, don’t we?  BTW folks, that’s the money !! They got it, and use it to fool the imbeciles in our society, who vote(of course, why else would they go near them) what their small, deficient, brains tell them to.

“I AM NOT A LIBERAL . . . !”

Nobody’s perfect.

“The Emperor has no clothes.”

But, there’s hope.

“The President is a CROOK!”

Hope becomes promise.

“The rest of the world sees it. They can’t believe we could be so stupid. They can’t imagine why we elected him the 2nd time. I can’t either, except to firmly believe the whole thing is rigged and we have lost our power and our country along with it.”

With promise comes insight.

“Members of our government have sold out our country and it’s people. They have followed orders to enact policies that they know are wrong, just so they can keep their jobs and their precious retirement benefits.”

Well, you’re definitely no conservative.

“There is no more integrity in the USA.  We have lost and we are lost.”

I see real concern, here.  I think you are ready to comoe out of the closet.

I AM NOT A LIBERAL!  I was born into a conservative American family and was a registered Republican voter. So I really object strongly when these mentally constipated, myopic NeoCons who do not serve my country, but serve only their narrow cause call me a LIB.  When will you people see the truth? The Emperor has no clothes.

The President is a CROOK!  He has stolen our rights and our liberties guaranteed in our Constitution and he has gotten away with it because he has lied to Congress and the American people (though his tightly controlled media) about the causes of 9-11, Iraq and Afghanistan.

There are pictures of him walking, holding hands with the Saudi Prince. Why can’t you people admit what is going on?

The rest of the world sees it. They can’t believe we could be so stupid. They can’t imagine why we elected him the 2nd time. I can’t either, except to firmly believe the whole thing is rigged and we have lost our power and our country along with it.

Way to go Bill Maher.  Could not be said better.

As to comment #60536 by the proud Republican:  You lost sight of what Maher was talking about. Totally!  It was about the outing of a CIA agent!  Not whining about who has the bigger stick of candy!  The comment about Hillary Clinton was a joke!  Bush ran on the platform of bringing honesty and respect back to the White House after Clinton’s sexual encounter.  For which he was impeached.  Now a Clinton will bring honor and respect to the White House.  Actually, anybody could bring honor and respect back to the White House after this crew.  But that is not the point proud Republican who does not show his name.  The point was the outing of a CIA agent!!!  Period!!!

In response to Proud Republican:  I know of very few people who would argue against going into Afghanistan after 9/11.  Iraq is another story.  Only lies and inaccurate information convinced Congress and the citizenry to support an invasion of Iraq.

On your statements about the Clinton adminstration: being the most investigated may prove you are the most corrupt or it may just prove you are the most harassed.  The political machine that went after Bill Clinton and spent millions doing so before he was even governor was intense in its viciousness and financial expenditure.  Most of the public eventually caught on to that and it continues to cost Republicans to this day.  The unprecedented cooperation of the right wing and the religious right in pursuing Clinton hurt the credibility of both groups.  From Jerry Falwell hocking a preposterous video “proving Bill Clinton had numerous political opponents murdered in Arkansas” to the right’s constant claims of illegal deals, etc., the appearance of groundless hatred polluted both groups.  The hard right’s disregard for the truth in the interest of their goals and their willingness to fabricate complete fantasies about their enemies can only work for a while on a few and then just results in the appearance of mean people consumed by self interest.

In regard to Hillary Clinton’s statements about future military activity in Iraq: to try to convert that into some sort of approval or replication of the Bush administration’s policies is not valid.  If Hillary Clinton becomes president she will have to clean up someone else’s mess and that is entirely different than keeping us out of the toilet in the first place.

On your point about O’Reilly on Letterman I can only remind you that anybody who ever studied basic debating knows that there are certain elementary tactics for gaining points in a debate, especially before a general audience and those points distract from rather than illuminate the real issues at hand.  Radio has a long history of O’Reillys and they all used the same kind of rhetoric and got good ratings doing so.  The bigger problem is that everyone knew it was entertainment back in those days.  No one took Joe Pine seriously when he said the silly things that got his audience excited.  Producers of radio and television are very aware of their demographics and they generally are aware that people who listen to personalities like O’Reilly want to have what they already believe repeated and verified.  Liberal audiences are much harder to organize and formulate radio formats around because they are much less monolithic in their views and thinking and far more skeptical of the words of a talking head.

For a lot of reasons, the survival of the United States doesn’t look as secure as it did a mere six years ago.  The notion in the sixties that the presidency was moving toward the status of figurehead has been dispelled by the catastrophic damage done in a term and a half of this administration.  It seems that we are collectively overdue to find more valid sources of information in the interest of building a more informed electorate who will make smarter choices in the voting booth.

A phenomenon has materialized in the media where personalities who depict themselves as thinkers are looking more like clowns and those who present themselves as clowns are looking more like thinkers.  I accept your challenge and would love to watch Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert or Bill Maher in your hypothetical debate with Sean Hannity.  But you better have some other activities planned for the same evening because I think the debate will last about as long as Mike Tyson’s fights in the old days, about 35 seconds into round one.

I just re-read Alfred Bester’s The Demolished Man from the early 50s and you can imagine how to ice my blood went when I read this about sadist Mr. Bush’s paranoid schizophrenic mentor, Mr. Cheney, sadly not fiction:

“That was dangerous too, because he was in a position of power to rock the solar system. He was one of those rare World Shakers whose compulsions might have torn down our society and irrevocably committed us to his own psychotic pattern.

“He very nearly succeeded. These men appear every so often . . . links between the past and the future. If they are permitted to mature…If the link is permitted to weld . . . The world finds itself chained to a dreadful tomorrow.”
p.235

And here we are ‘committed to their own psychotic pattern, ... chained to a dreadful tomorrow.’ (For awhile. Keep your hearts bright. The horrible Old White Men do die off and the beloved community of the reasonably good-hearted will rise and thrive.)

I have changed the button I see around which says Bush/Impeach/Cheney to Bush/Waterboard*/Cheney.
*just short of organ failure.

Oh, and did you know that Mr. Rove, a sadist’s sadist, was born on 12/25/50? Apparently he is the Anti-Christ . . .

(The thing about Mr. Rove is that he wants to ruin you, he wants you to know he ruined you, and, because of a brilliance honed by insanity and implacable arrogance, he wants you to realize in your marrow that you’ll never catch him.)

Response to #60536 by Proud Republican:

I’m surprised that someone in Afghanistan would like the fact that bu$h has ignored the situatioon there since he committed us to the terrible Iraq situation.

If we had stayed out of Iraq that country would still be controlled by that old meany Hussein who was keeping the lid on Islamic fundamentalists in that country and we could have a much better tactical situation in Afghanistan.

As it is now, the Shiite are in charge in Iraq (the coalition Government is a farce). Iran has as many Shiite or more in their country so they will be able to put a lot of pressure on any form of government that evolves after the civil war there. That form of government will be determined after we leave no matter if we leave now or fifty years from now.

In the mean time we are fighting a piece-meal campaign in Afghanistan which means many of our troops, if they survive will probably retire after twenty years of combat.

Hilary or whoever takes the Presidency will have to clean up this mess left us by the bu$h radicals.

The war in Iraq is like a hole in the sand, you can keep shoveling but the hole just fills back up.

Let’s talk about the ability to maintain a open-ended war.

We fight with bullets and other armaments but those are bought with money. Thanks to Reagan, the first bu$h and the second bu$h we’re going broke. Check this data out.

In 1950 under Harry Truman, the National debt was 90 percent of GDP. We were paying the debt of WWII. The debt, as a percentage of GDP shrank for the next thirty years. In 1980 under Carter, our debt was the lowest it had been since 1931, 32.5 percent. Under Republican President Reagan deficit spending increased debt to 48.1 percent of GDP. By the end of the term of the first President Bush in 1992 Debt had risen to 66.3 percent of GDP. Under President Clinton the debt percentage was reduced to about 60 percent of GDP.

Get with the program sir. I have said many times that to win against the terrorists of the world we need a small agile highly trained mobile force to move anywhere in the world on short notice with a small footprint. In and out with the best intelligence so we kill the real bad guys. This kind of war we would sustain financially over the long haul. We cannot sustain the type of actions our leaders has put us in to date. Stick with bu$h and eventually guys like Rumsfield will tell you to fight with Spears, because that’s all we will be able to afford. Remember when Rumsfield said you go to war with the army you have not necessarily the army you want.

So, “proud republican” is that code for “proud imperialist”?  Let me ask you this what are you doing in Afganistan?  Why would your comments bear any more weight because you are there?

Ronald Reagan was a great president? Are you nuts? Reagan was criminal and should have gone to prison for treason, lying to congress, and for crimes against humanity.  He was an amoral bastard, for who death was far too good and end.  Reagan was personally responcible for the deaths of thousands of civilians among them many many children in Nicaragua and El Salvador.

Please don’t call me a lefty, or a liberal, I am most likely far more “conservative” and “right” leaning than you. I actually believe in Liberty, small government, and letting people simply live their lives.  I don’t believe in missleading the public, lying to congress, and illegal foreign wars of economic conquest.  I don’t believe in lining the pockets of the “already far to rich for the good the country” war mongers and pedlars of death.  Yes I am talking about the asshole Cheney.

George Bush is a traitor not only to the American people but to all of us who hoped that the United States of America would be a shinning beacon that would guide the world out of the darkness of tyranny.  George Bush, and his neo-con-christo-fundamentalist-fanatical-religio-endtimes-agenda pushers are the greatest threat to peace, tranquility, and understanding.

What exactly are the western democracy doing in Afganistan?  Proping up the major or Kabul!  The taliban and the war lords always will and are now in control of the country.

Bill O’reilly and intellectual genius? Shawn Hannity? Next you’ll be elevating Donny Deutsch up there too, or Anne Coulter.  These are the people who don’t want to allow people with opposing views to speak.  Nice to see these bright lights of the right off in Iraq and Afganistan fighting the good fight.

Did the proud republican say anything that wasn’t just a redneck slur from the right ?? The fact that he is in Afghanistan, though I mean no disrespect to his position at this time, in no way means he has any particular enlightenment other then what his commanders have drummed into him, especially if he went into this with a rightwing ( Red State ) predisposition in the first place. To call the Clinton Admin the most investigated misses the point that most of that investigating was pure partisan witchunt buisness that never bore any fruition for a republican congress that was fixated on getting Clinton instead of doing the people’s buisness. In contrast , Bu$h has had absolutely no oversite this last six years at all from a rubberstamp majority up untill recently ran by a former bug killer in Texas named Tom Delay who left in disgrace. To exclaim yourself a proud republican while supporting this administration makes no sense at all to anyone who understands what a functioning democracy is all about. Perhaps this proud republican can explain what we are fighting for in Iraq & Afghanistan. The reasons keep changing over at this end.

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black (Maher being the pot) First of all, I am in Afghanistan and before all of you libs start making accusations, maybe you should talk to the people who I have had the opportunity to talk to. As usual, you people can’t stand the fact that your politics have taken a back seat to our (the correct) politics. You want to talk about a corrupt administration, I give you the Clinton “legacy”. That administration is, was, and probably always will be the most investigated administration in the history of our great nation. The fact of the matter is that President Bush says what he means, means what he says, and does his best to do what he says and the “feel good” left wing can’t stand it. He is by far the best leader that this country has seen since President Reagan. Even, the left can’t seem to get on the same page of music and can only agree enough so that they can say that they have “defeated another Bush proposal”. In fact, up until the last week, Hillary has been running on the platform of “I will bring our troops home from Iraq”. All of a sudden the political winds change (as the Clintons are famous for) and what should appear, an article that reads March 2007: In an interview with the New York Times, Hillary predicts a “remaining military as well as political mission” in Iraq; she states that if elected president, she would keep a reduced military force there to fight Al Qaeda, deter Iranian aggression, protect the Kurds and support the Iraqi military. As usual, the liberal left wants to have your cake and eat it too. It doesn’t work like that and it is time that you left wingers grow up and realize that! I am sure that I will be chided terribly over this and I really don’t care, most of the men and women in uniform believe in what they are doing and why they are over here, so let them do their job and shut up about it. As usual, it is alright for you on the left to be able to express your opinions and damn the rest of us for believing differently. Finally, before you go off half cocked, which is more often than not, I would like to tell the egotistical Bill Maher to try what David Letterman tried with Bill O’reilly. The best thing about this is Bill O’reilly is a Democrat and Letterman got his rear handed to him on a silver platter. Better yet, try keep up with Sean Hannity in a debate as well.

Amen Bill!

What is really going on here?

Corporate America wants to build an Imperial Presidency that has more power than Congress. This would put them in a position of only needing to control one person to get their agendas passed. It would be much easier to control the one than to control the many in the Congress and Senate.

The fact that they want this to happen is directly contradictory to the Constitution that mandates Laws must be passed by Congress and the President must carry them out. I think the so called “Signing Statements” are also a contradiction to the Constitution.

So, Why are we sitting back on our hands and watching this obvious attempt to control our government by the few take place?

Our existance as a Democratic Republic hangs in the balance.

We need to demand of our elected representatives that they take back the power our forefathers gave them in the Constitution.

Impeach Bush now!!! What are the charges? Try subverting the constitutional process by lying to congress as to the reasons to go to war in Iraq for starters. In so doing he violated his oath of office to uphold the Constitution.
He violated his oath to diligently perform his Constitutionally defined responsibilities.

Bill Clinton was impeached for lying during an investigation into claims he had sex with that woman. He, as president was so charged because he violated his responsibility to uphold the laws of the land by lying under oath. While this was an impeachable offence it pales in scope when compared to what bush has gotten away with.
I’m convinced bush is a sociopath (no consideration for rules or law)who suffers from Schizophrenia (believes God talks to him). In short, we have a maniac in the Whitehouse and Congress is ignoring the facts. Remember the story fo the King who had no clothes. It took the innocence of a child (who had alliegence to no-one) to have the courage to be the first to point out that fact. We need someone with that characteristic to step forward now and start the process before it’s too late.

Now we have a sitting president who has blatantly disregarded his oath to lawfully uphold the laws of the land and he’s walking around continuing in this behavior and no-one seems to have the guts to move for impeachment.

If bush is allowed to complete his presidency without impeachment we are all doomed to less freedom and less protection under the Constitution.

I believe that All members of the Congress and Senate are also violating the Constitution by failing to do their duty to impeach as mandated in the Constitution.

Bill Maher is absolutely right. It is time we started calling Bush and Cheney’s treason for what it is. They have given aid and comfort to our enemies and weakened America’s defense. They have looted our national financial reserves and borrowed more and more money from China, which has weakened our influence over them at the same time they spen that money on an unnecessary war, which has “broken the back” of our military. They have provided money through incompetence, stupidity, or cynicism to Al Quaeda. Where did the 8 Billion dollars that was “not accounted for” from the 12 BILLION in cash go? Who is siding up to the Sunni forces (allied with Al Quaeda) because they have a problem with (Shiite) Iran?

Who left Americans to die when the levies broke?

Who dragged the goodwill America had with the international community through the dirt because they insisted that they had the right to kidnap individuals off the streets of Rome and ship them to torture camps?

I have been saying this for some time and it is nice to hear Bill Maher say it too. In actual fact if there were ever a reason to impeach and convict elected officials the Bush Administration, that includes Cheney, have fully fulfilled the reason for impeachment.

As some one was kind enough to point out recently, if Bill Clinton’s sex life was sufficient to keep the country in uproar with a move to impeachment, than surely using lies to divert the nation from the real enemy, to attack a country that had not attacked us, and they knew they were lying, that surely is reason enough and not even mentioning that Bush says he doesn’t care what American People want for the direction of the country he is the “decider”. No he is supposed to be the President he is not supposed to make laws, ignore laws and break laws when he feels like it. We signed treaties to make torture illegal and Bush/Cheney say “oh its only a love tap”, no its torture and it is not being used in moderation and only when no other avenue is available, we have kept people captured locked up and tortured without even having a clear reason to suspect that they had done anything with 9/11.

All very true:

If the people of the US want to convince the world we are not babyish morons, not self-destructive, we need to put THE ENTIRE BUISH ADMINIUSTRATION BEHIND BARS FOR A VERY LONG TIME.

And to get back some of the BILLIONS they have stolen from the taxpayers.

But even that would not begin to address the million dollar question:

WHY?????????????????????????????????

Why did “WE THE PEOPLE” allow a buch of mobsters and traitors and crooks and imbeciles like cheney and bush run (as in “into the ground”) the country for EIGHT YEARS????

Until we anser that question, we won’t be in a position to restore dmemocracy and the rule of law

Nor, for that matter, to even suggest that we know what these words mean in the first place.

For the republicans to complain about “pork” is very much like the elephant accusingly pointing out to the donkey, the size of its P-O-O-P !

I didn’t realize until the end of this clip that David Frum was sitting and listening to this. I wish, I wish I could have seen his face when this commentary was being delivered.

David Frum said that he wrote those speeches, including his famous “axis of evil” triumph, hoping that, as the president delivered them, he would start to believe them. It must be nice to feel so powerful, David. Too bad you were so WRONG.

Thank you Bill for saying what needs to be said.

I’m 61 years old and it brings tears to my eyes to see what these fascists have done to our country.  Make no mistake; the American people are complicit in this through their fear and apathy…it’s a deadly combination.

In my life time I have never seen our Republic so close to ruin.  I marched in Portland, Or in protest of the war in Vietnam 30 years ago.  I am an expat now living in a country that is ruled by a military junta and it seems less threatening than the events in America.  I can only express my outrage through sites like this…and I do.

I am confounded by what the American people are allowing to happen.  Our founding fathers would be appalled.

A Democracy is not self perpetuating; it must be guarded jealously and fought for at every turn.  One can trust no one to “keep” it safe and secure, especially the ones elected to run and govern it.  Every American is responsible for the conduct of their elected officials…diligence is required, not optional.  Many Americans have died to ensure we remain free.  They were not wasted on corporatism as our beautiful young men and women are today.

Thank you Bill Maher for blasting those corrupt, treasonous bastards!!!
