Bush and Shaq

This isn’t the most engrossing clip we’ve ever put up, but if you can sit through a few minutes of the Miami Heat rubbing elbows with Bush, there’s a moment at the end that speaks volumes about our president.

“...strikes me as petty and beneath your usual standards.  This does not, as your lead-in states, ‘speak volumes’ about the man.”

C’mon now Pete. It’s importance can be understood from an historical context:

This video is certainly news.....yet another expose of our Squatter -in-Chief. George Bush has a stigma now of his own creation...too bad the american people didnt figure out his Mayberry-Town-Idiot roots earlier...or many would still have their lives. Videos like this are here to remind the folks in the reality based community that we were always right.

Man, I have to agree.  Of all of the destructive things, all of the meanspirited things, and all of the downright dumb things that this president has done to your country over the past six years, headlining the failure of a basketball to bounce on a carpeted subfloor strikes me as petty and beneath your usual standards.  This does not, as your lead-in states, “speak volumes” about the man.  Don’t let your hate consume you…

Guys, guys, guys, come on.....this is beneath your normally fine reporting.

No one has more contempt for the shrub than I do but, sheesh, give it a rest.

Fierce, but fair, okay?

Is this guy charlie brown or what. What a total baffoon. At least one guy should have had the balls to say I refuse to go. However, unless it was Shaquile or Dwayne he would have been cut and banned from playing in the NBA. Also, all the millionaires with all of the illegimate children must be enjoying the Bush tax policies of no child of a millionaire left behind.

the ball must have been way under inflated.

Who cares about the ball, I find it interesting that he could take someones hand yet not acknowledge their existance.

The most interesting thing about this clip was Dwayne Wade’s silent protest of the president (If you want to call it that.) Notice how Wade maintains his posture and his attention throughout this session.

If Wade didn’t purposefully stage his own (little) protest, maybe he and bush has something in common...ADD.

Although I am not a “sports” fan, I believe this avenue (sports) is a sure way of getting your opinions and beliefs out to the American public. Imagine if Shaq had real balls to offer bush. Part of his brief speech may have included this plague of violence the administration has created, or the social and political dislocation that stemmed from the many inept decisions from bush and his crew.

Imagine if Shaq had stood before the president and announced he was gay! I’m not saying that Shaq is gay, maybe he is, maybe he isn’t, I don’t know Shaq. But, my point is, DO SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING, and let your point be clear so that I am not in a state of ‘wishful thinking’ when I look at this clip and see Dwayne Wade with his back to the president.

WHO REALLY CARES? THIS IS NOT NEWS.  WE NEED REAL NEWS WHICH FOCUSES ON SUBSTANTIVE ISSUES AND LEAVE ENTERTAINMENT TO THOSE WHO ARE ACTUALLY--ENTERTAINING.

Watching this clip made me realize something about our current leader.  If the “position” of president of the US was only more of a figurehead type of calling, like maybe a queen, that doesn’t involve politics and stuff.  He makes a good PR kind of guy and obviously is comfortable making these types of speeches.  If we could just keep him out of important issues involving diplomacy, etc.

I’ll be the last person to say anything positive about GWB, but let’s be fair.  He was bouncing the ball on the podium, which is likely a hollow platform with quite a bit of give to it.  Balls don’t bounce well off of hollow floors; the floor absorbs some of the energy.

Actually he did not drop the ball he tried to bounce it and it’s not fair to laugh for not knowing a Basketball will not bounce on carpet padding after all he was a Cheerleader in College not an athlete.
