This week, our selection of Truthdig-flavored videos includes a preview of Fox’s answer to “The Daily Show”; The Dixie Chicks’ Natalie Maines speaking about artistic courage to the ACLU; and Chris Hedges laying a smackdown to Colbert and the Christian right.

No. 1: Fox Previews Right-Wing ‘Daily Show’

Check out this quick clip of “The 1/2 Hour News Show”—Fox’s right-leaning answer to “The Daily Show” and “The Colbert Report.” It was created by the right-wingers behind “24.”

(Lots of info at Huff Po)

No. 2: Dixie Chicks’ Natalie Maines Talks Liberty to the ACLU

In light of the five Grammy awards the all-female band picked up on Feb. 11, we decided to post this video: It’s the Dixie Chicks’ Natalie Maines accepting the ACLU’s Bill of Rights Award in December—for defending liberty and the right to free speech in the face of overwhelming pressure. Lead vocalist Natalie Maines said she’s proud to be a card-carrying member, adding “It hasn’t taken courage to stand strong, just a first-grade education.”

No. 3:  Hedges Explores Colbert’s Alternate Reality

Here at Truthdig, we can’t get enough of Chris Hedges and his takedown of the radical Christian right. (See our interview with him.) So here’s the “American Fascists” author (No. 29 at Amazon.com) holding his own against Stephen Colbert’s absurdist onslaught.

No. 4: John Oliver Nails Iran’s Weapons Source

Amid a discussion of Bush’s dubious claims about Iranian influence in Iraq, “The Daily Show’s” “senior military speculator” hilariously divines the point of origin of Tehran’s armaments.

RANDOM THOUGHTS AND COMMENTS

Why is it that we see and hear from “senior” correspondents such as Senior White House or Pentagon Correspondent? I hope that at some point the news shows will give us the views of some of their better ” junior” correspondents.

Tony Snow : “” I’m not so sure anything went wrong” in Iraq (later narrowed on Meet the Press). When Tony Snow is not sure about anything, I worry. I rely on him for certainty.

News Item - “GM in Talks to Buy Chrysler.” Why, is Tucker Motorcars not available?

In last Wednesday’s press conference, Bush claimed that he can’t judge whether Iraq is a civil war while “living in this beautiful White House.” His lovely surroundings haven’t kept him from starting a disastrous war and now sending more troops to Iraq. We’ll be quite glad when he is relieved of the burden of this beautiful house.

Is it true that many are saying that they would vote for Barack Obama if only he were black?

Mitt Romney: - “We need to have a person of faith to lead the country.” So a Druid or Islamist might well qualify, but no atheist could?

I think it was very tasteless for the “1/2 Hour New Show” to bring Barak Obama’s family into all of this. That was beyond acceptable. His family is his own private matter, and should not have been included in this attempt at humour. The Replublic party, and the supporters of their news network, Fox, should be ashamed.

The ACLU should invite Clint Eastwood. While music shunned the Dixie Chicks, He signed anti-war actors Sean Penn and Tim Robbins to appear in his movie Mystic River. Like me, Eastwood is a Libertarian. They should also invite Kelsey Grammer. Last year, in the final epidode of Medium, he played music from the Dixie Chicks’ new album and at the end of the show, he announced who did the music. Grammer is a Republican.
